Residents will have the opportunity to discard unwanted and expired prescriptions and over the counter medicines in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner on July 18th from 9am until 1pm at the Earth Fare in Bearden. The medication packaging will be recycled. Participants will be provided markers to mark over personal information.

The goal of the collection is to prevent these pharmaceutical and over-the-counter products from getting into the water supply – or into the hands of children – and to make sure they are disposed of in a safe, environmentally-conscious way.

The Medication Collection is part of an ongoing, nationwide effort to reduce the amount of drugs and over the counter products that are entering water systems from going down the drain.

Earth Fare is offering over $500 in prizes for a photo contest. We thought you might like to participate.

"You say tomato, I say tahmato." But, whatever way you say it, Earth Fare wants you to take it - take the Earth Fare tomato that is - on vacation with you this summer. It's portable and fits inside most jacket pockets (just don't squish it - crushed tomatoes don't photograph well!).

So, we dare you (even double-dare you!) to find the most outrageous, beautiful, hilarious or just darn great vacation spots to take pictures with Earth Fare's tomato. Be creative - dress the tomato up because anything goes. Can't decide on which picture to send between a few awesome shots? Well, then submit them all. There's no limit on submissions!
