What a unique find this little cook book was.

It is titled: The Uncommon Cookbook.

It is edited and illustrated by Phyllis Coggins and it is sponsored by the NOAA Office of Sea Grant and the Department of Commerce.

It has some very unique and different recipes that use octopus, mussells, squid, sea urchin, fish and eel.

It uses seafood that is found off the coast of Maine.

An unusual item that would make a great gift for the cook who has everything.

Shorter Days

Turning the clocks back in the fall really signals the beginning of winter here in New England.

With the sun setting at 4:30, the days seem so much shorter.

The leaves have all dropped from the trees and covered the floor of the forest with their vibrant beauty.

Won’t be long until they all turn to brown, but for the next few days they are a beautiful sight.

We like to spend a couple hours in the woods this time of year just sitting and listening and observing.

As winter begins to close in, all of nature’s little creatures are quite busy - and it is a joy to watch them.

Off for today’s walk before the night moves in.

Wedgwood Jasper Plate 2000

The classic blue and white pattern and design are what make this Wedgwood Jasperware so collectible.

This plate is from the year 2000, and it features Hebe and Eagle.

Hebe, the Goddess of Youth, is in the center and she is framed by a six-sided floral border.

This plate has scalloped edges and it measures 7 1/2 inches across.

A most beautiful collector plate that is a must for any Wedgwood Collector!

Avon Albee Award Wine Glasses

I am turning to my readers for some help with this post.

We picked up some vintage Avon items this past weekend, and included in the box were some of these wine glasses.

I believe they are an Albee Award item that was given to select top sellers back in the early 1970’s.

I have searched the internet, ebay, and various other auction and collectible sites, and I am not finding anything at all about them.

I want to get my facts straight before I post anything online for sale - I don’t want to mislead anyone.

If anyone has any info or is familiar with these etched glasses, I would be most appreciative if you would contact me.

Italian Crystal Ballroom Dancers

Ballroom dancers made of beautiful Italian crystal.

This couple is titled: Bolero.

They stand approximately 10 1/2 inches tall.

Gracefully posed and formed, they are most beautiful when held in the light.

Enjoying Those Fall Colors

Seems it has come much to soon this year, but the Fall season is most beautiful here in New England.

Recent rain and winds have taken down most of the leaves on the Ash trees behind our house - they are always the first to go.

The Maples are starting to get their bright yellows and oranges, and the Sumac has turned a fiery red.

The acorns are falling off the Oaks in droves.

Peak foliage should be here within the week, then the bareness that signals winter’s start will be all around us.

Hopefully a few warms days are left - we’re not ready to give into winter yet!

Shaving or Overnight Cases

We have a couple of these hard to find Overnight shaving cases left that are made by Dopp.

Quite often men refer to their shaving cases as Dopp kits, and the ones we have are the real thing.

Made of leather, they have a built-in frame that holds the case upright when they are unzipped.

They have a waterproof lining and a small pocket on the inside.

They are quality items that are not easy to find these days.

We only have one of these quality messenger bags made by Kenneth Cole.

It is designed to hold a notebook or laptop computer with a special padded section that protects it.

It is the “One Mess Reason” style name and is from the New York Collection by Kenneth Cole.

Made of gray nylon with black trim, it has a very stylish design.

It contains organizational pockets and slip pockets to keep everything in it’s place.

More National Geographic Magazines

We ran across some more older issues of the National Geographic magazine this summer and have them listed in the store now.

It is so interesting to read through them and see how much things have changed from the 1940’s and 1950’s.

One of the biggest things I noticed was how they liked to print on the cover how many color images are included in the issue.

Color photography is something that we don’t even think about these days, but it was certainly a big thing back then.

And the advertisements in them are usually good for a chuckle - how innocent everything was back then.

Time has changed many things in these issues including many of the articles written about countries we no longer have on our planet.

A bit of history, geography, early color photography, and cheeky advertisements - all worth taking a moment to read.

New Category - Metals and Coins

Today we have started a new category in the store - Metals and Coins.

We have run across some rare sterling silver with gold electroplating silver art rounds and are offering them for sale.

These beautiful silver bullion rounds were minted by the Franklin mint back in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

They feature the Masterpieces of Raphael and are recreations of his many paintings in the form of a coin or art round.

We hope to add more of these rare collectibles as we go along.

Some Big Shoes

We just got in some large sized athletic shoes during the last couple of weeks.

They are men’s Mizuno sports shoes that are size 16.

We have a couple of styles - mid and low, and they are in a variety of colors.

Teddy Sailor Table Mats

We just listed a new item that we only have one of.

We found these cute table or place mats that are made by Wilscombe Homewares and I am sure they won’t be around long.

They feature a teddy bear dressed in a sailor suit and he is surrounded by various nautical items - an anchor, a sandpail, and he is holding a spy glass by his side.

A lighthouse, seahorses, shells, and a starfish make up the cute borders around the edges.

This is a set of four that would make a great addition to a camp or cabin by the sea.

Kitty Collector Plate

This is a pretty little collector plate that is a Formalities by Baum Brothers creation.

It is titled: Mouse Cat

It features a long haired kitty sitting pretty on a red mat beside a hearth.

It measures 8 inches across.

What a great addition to a cat lover’s collection.

Adgitize Advertising

We are trying something new this month for advertising.

This blog has been a part of the Adgitize network for a couple of months now, but I have started a campaign on the home page of the KML’s Corner website.

It has only been a couple of days, but I have seen a pretty good click through rate so far.

The adgitize network has a special offer for running multiple ads. They are also implementing a few new features over the next couple of months, so it will interesting to see how it all works out.

It is an inexpensive way to test the waters, and they offer earning incentives also.

Changes Again

More changes are coming on the Ebay front.

These ones are not any better than the last batch they implemented earlier this year.

An ebay representative even called to let us know about these changes, and informed me of all the changes I have to make to keep my high rankings over there.

Say what?

Let me get this straight - I am a powerseller, with excellent feedback, very good “stars”, no claims against me, and a great powerseller discount each month because of my high rankings.

And if I don’t make certain changes, ebay is going to punish me - these high rankings I have earned from my customers will mean nothing.

I am so glad I have this website, and that I have been moving more inventory on line.

A big thank you to all my customers and I promise to never treat you the way ebay treats their customers - the ones who pay all their bills - the sellers.

Laguiole Steak Knives

In Search Of…….

It was bound to happen.

I have had my Canon printer for almost 5 years now, and I think I have been lucky to have it running for as long as that.

It was a good one - the high end photo printer that I used for my Photo website in the beginning before it turned it into my business one.

I so hated to see it go as it only needed a new print head.

But for the cost of the print head, I could buy a new printer and some extra inks and still have money to spare.

So after spending three days doing everything possible to revive it, I finally gave in and got the Epson NX415 all in one model that was on sale. Many printers were researched and tested before we made our decision.

It does fine for invoices and copies, but it isn’t the photo printer that the Canon was.

RIP my faithful Canon - you served me well!

Soccer Ball Bottle Stopper

This is a cute bottle stopper in the shape of a Soccer ball.

It is made by Villeroy and Boch and it is lead crystal.

There are frosted and cleared colored panels on the glass ball just like the white and black panels on a real soccer ball.

It is new in the box and would make the perfect gift for a soccer loving fan.

Pajamas for Men

We have added a new category to the Men’s Clothing section of the store.

We have some PJ sets that are made by a few different designers.

Between our ebay store and our KML’s Corner store we have a selection of Sleepwear sets that are made by Izod, Perry Ellis, Bill Blass, and Tommy Hilfiger.

Most are made of 100% cotton - some are knit, some are flannel, and some are woven cloth.

Plaids, solids, and stripes make up most of the patterned designs of these pajamas.
