Walking the streets of Old San Juan, it’s easy to get lost in the history and culture of the surroundings as you make your way from museum to plaza, from fortress to fortress, from bar to beach and back again. Factor in some shopping and you see it’s not such a stretch to end up forgetting about food. However, the Caribbean sun is known to conspire with the city’s tapestry of streets and hilly climbs to work up an appetite in you. Thankfully, Old San Juan has developed into a Caribbean Mecca for food-lovers with a wide range of offerings that aim to accommodate all palates and preferences.

Feel free to explore the city by foot and visit its many historical sites, museums, parks, plazas, and shops – Old San Juan is small enough so that you are never more than a fifteen-minute walk away from the closest bar or restaurant for you to rest, recharge, have a meal or enjoy a couple of drinks. Many of the city’s streets include a restaurant or two; even in the most residential areas you’ll find a cafetín (cafeteria), bistro, or pizza place lurking right around the corner. However, there are some streets you might want to consider if you wish to ex

Los Cabos, commonly known as "Cabo", is one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations. What makes this beach resort so unique is its desert landscape that lies in contrast to the deep blue sea waters.

Los Cabos is a resort area at the southernmost tip of the Baja California Peninsula. Two towns make up the resort: San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. The two towns are about 30 minutes apart, and very different in ambiance and attractions. San Jose del Cabo lies to the eastern part of the peninsula, where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez, and maintains its traditional, small-town feel. The center of town is focused around the white Misión de San Jose church, which looks out onto a square full o

Rima Malallah is an artist from Amman, Jordan. She majored in Fine Arts and (accidentally) Philosophy at Spalding University in Louisville, KY. She opened up her store love on a bike in 2007, there she sells an array of paintings, postcards, ceramics and colorful furniture. Damascus has the almost magical ability to transport you to many different worlds and eras in a single day.

Every corner of this bustling capital shows signs of the more than 33 civilizations that have occupied the country over the last thousand years. The Old City, with its winding alleyways and hidden courtyards, can be a bit of a scene-stealer. The souq, the Umayyed mosque and historical hammans (bathhouses) will actualize latent Orientalist fantasies of texture and color, but don’t let your exploration of this dynamic city end here. Downtown, Soviet-style architecture bleeds into a fashionable shopping district and European inspired Art Deco residential neighborhood.

The heat in Miami is not just generated by the sun; it comes from the people, food, and music. With plenty of inexpensive flights connecting it to the Northeast, Miami is a great choice for a vacation or short escapade.

Despite the city’s reputation for superficial hotness, the food scene in Miami is genuinely cool. What makes dining in Miami so fun is the authentic diversity that provides something for everyone and every budget. If you want to spend your nights people-watching and dropping lots of money on glamorous cocktails in South Beach, you can do that. Or if you want to spend your nights dining outside in simple fish restaurants on the Miami River, you can do that also.

This is an objective account about the way people eat in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The observations were made over the period of almost a year, most of which was spent living with a middle-class family of Sunni religious clerics in the Ras al-Nebaa neighborhood of central Beirut.

Beirut, Lebanon is located near the middle of Lebanon’s western Mediterranean coast. A large mountain chain borders the city from the northeast and the land flattens out as one heads south.

This is an objective account about what people eat in Tuscany, Italy. I must specify that the focus is on Northern Tuscany, which varies slightly in cuisine from the South of the region.

People usually eat three meals a day. Breakfast takes place in the early morning before work, and can consist of biscuits, cornetti (the Italian croissant), yogurt, or cereal. There is always coffee, which is served with a lot of milk, and cappuccinos are quite common in caffès. The cappuccinos in Italy are much smaller than the ones that have become so ubiquitous in the United States. They are made with one shot of espresso, warm milk, and some frothed milk on top. Breakfast is a very light meal.

This is an objective account about the what people eat in the Aegean region of Turkey. The observations were made in the Summer and are specific to that season.

Turkey’s Aegean Coast stretches from just north of Izmir down to the Southwestern corner of the Western coastline. It is flanked by the Marmara region to the North, Mediterranean region to the Southeast, and the Anatolia region to the East. Layers upon layers of diverse populations have left their mark on the culture and traditions there, as Romans, Greeks, and Ottomans (to name a few) have all occupied the land over the past five centuries.

Rome is one of the most magical cities of Europe. One week is barely enough to enjoy the piazzas, pizzas, fountains, pastas, monuments, and cafes that make it so special. Here is a guide with some tips on what to eat, when to eat it, and where to find some of the best meals.

After spending some time in the Eternal City, I have come up with a list of tips on where to eat in Rome, as well as some cultural notes for how to enjoy la dolce vita. Although it is hard to eat badly in Italy, you can often find yourself in tourist traps that sell over- priced food with bad service and sub-par standards. Because of Rome's world-wide popularity, it is quite easy to find yourself in one of these frustrating situations.
