Earthquake Safety

We live in Earthquake country and the other morning we were awoke by some shaking. I have been trying to find some kids related material on Earthquake safety. There is not too much out there. Here is the LA County Fire Department's site in Earthquake safety. If anybody has any links to sites with Earthquake safety for kids and family please send it in to us.

Here is a classic episode of Fireman Sam I found on Daily Motion. The episode is from 1990. I had no idea Fireman Sam was around that long. We only found about his show on Sprout in the last couple years. Mathew still enjoys these just not as much as the new version of Fireman Sam. Enjoy!

High School Fire Safety Video

Sioux Falls Fire Rescu produces this excellent TV Show on Youtube. They show firefighter training, fire trucks, and answer viewer questions. If they answer your question on the show they send you a T-Shirt. It is quite a production from a smaller city Fire department.

Fire Truck Monster Truck

We were watching Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks this morning and I realized we never looked for real fire truck monster trucks. I found this video on Youtube.com with a real Fire Truck Monster Truck. The video was from the San Diego County fair. You could get a ride on the truck for $5. I wonder if they do this every year. They cover topics such as Life Skills including coping with loss, peer pressure, and first aid just to name a few. I am sure you will spend more than a few minutes at this site.

We stopped by the Fire Geezer this morning and found a post about Emergency. I don't think we have ever posted about this classic TV Show. Mathew got a set of the the first couple seasons of Emergency on DVD last year. We watched all of the episodes in a week. He loved them!. I loved these shows when I was kid too. Enjoy!. Are there any current Fire related TV shows that are PG rated?

Kristin from the Children's Hospital Boston's Pediatric Blog sent us this article about fire safety for your family. The article is loaded with safety tips to keep your family safe. We got an email from Ontario Family Fun about the the Canadian Firefighters Museum. The Museum is located in Ontario, Canada. It does look like a fun place to take the family to check out the history of firefighting in Canada. Looks like there a lot of Classic Firetrucks on display there.

We found this cool Little Firetruck at FlashOverTV. It has a water and pumps out 125 gallons per minute of water. It would be funny taking Mathew to school in this little fire truck. It would water the lawn pretty darn well too.

Station Fire Video

Here is a video of the Station Fire we found on Youtube. The Station Fire was in the Los Angeles mountains near the end of August through the beginning of September. It was the largest wild fire in Los Angeles County history. We could see the giant plume of smoke from our home over 50 miles away, not to mention the smoke and ashes. The plume looked like a volcano had erupted.

Check out Sprinkler's Clubhouse from the Chandler Fire Department in Arizona. The clubhouse is currently being remodeled so they only have videos posted for now. Sprinkler is a Fire Safety Clown that looks like he hits the gym pretty hard. Sprinkler and his pal Dusty show you how to be safe around the pool, with helmets, in the kitchen, and so much more. Check out this line of Fireman Drinks. They have a line of sodas that the kids can enjoy. Flavors include Root Beer, Cream Soda, and Black Cherry soda. Your kids will love the opportunity to drink a fireman soda. Equally important are the beers they have for the older kids. They make a Blonde, Brunette, and a Redhead style beer. Firefighter Monopoly

We just found Firefighter Monopoly. It is your standard Monopoly game redesigned with a firefighter theme. You got Flash Over and Back Draft cards, Probie Place and Firefighter Freeway as property cards. Mathew has played Monopoly with the rest of the family and he follows along pretty well. I think this game will take his interest in Monopoly to another level.

Guardian Angel

I found a little more info on Flickr about the creator. "The photo was taken by the creator of the sculpture, Darlene Racicot of Timmons, Ontario. The sculpture was made as a dedication to the firefighters and police who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks. It was inspired by a photograph of a firefighter sitting, exhausted as this one does. The photo was digitally altered to show 2 Angels, one leaning on each side, comforting the firefighter.
The sculpture was entered in the South Porcupine Ice Sculpture contest in Feb 2002. It is 10ft tall, 15ft long, and took 250 hours to complete. It won the contest.
In the Fireman's hands is a connector assembly to a self-contained breathing apparatus. It is attached to a backpack of oxygen tanks, and feeds regulated air to the face mask, which is hanging behind his left leg. " http://www.flickr.com/photos/ilively/462911867/
