The hot fix originally scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 was released on Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 at around 3AM ET (7AM GMT). The release included some client specific fixes as well as fixes for the following platform issues:

Member export function in the Affiliate Center not working.
IP address information not displaying on blog details page in the Affiliate Center.
Pending members not showing up in pending member list in the Affiliate Center for private groups.

Update: Intermittent widget issue resolved

Update: Commenting on external media now functional

A hot fix was pushed to the platform at approximately 3 am EST this morning. This resolved the issues surrounding API calls for commenting on external media. The calls have returned to full service and testing indicates proper functionality.

The majority of today's post-release issues have been resolved. Widgets, APIs, and hosted platform pages are demonstrating normal functionality. We are still investigating an issue with commenting on external media not working. Commenting hosted platform content is functioning normally.

We will perform a release on Friday, October 30rd, 2009 at around 3AM ET (7AM GMT). The release will last approximately three hours during which your KickApps community will operate normally. This release includes:

Media Privacy

This is an optional feature webmasters can enable in the Affiliate Center. When enabled, members can restrict access to their contributed media to members on their Friends list.

Full Member Export

The member export function in the Affiliate Center will output the entire list of members returned by search rather than just the 25 members appearing on each page of the search results. The full member export will also include answers to profile questions and points accumulated to date.

Anti-Spam Initiatives

All user-generated hyperlinks will go through a server-side redirect.

Webmasters will have the ability to block IP ranges.

Webmasters will have the ability to completely remove the links and RSS feeds sections from the member profile page.

Behind the scenes measures that will remove suspected Spam accounts and media without any action on the part of KickApps webmasters.

Optional “AJAX-Powered” Profile Page

Webmasters can use the existing profile pages or switch to a new, faster-performing version which draws key “above the fold” elements onto the page during initial load and the remaining “below the fold” content as an AJAX call after the page renders for the user.

You can review these changes by accessing the Affiliate Center and your community on our staging environment. Here’s how:

If your community is DNS masked

Add the following entry to your ETC Host file:

66.77.79.30

Example:

66.77.79.30         community.kickdeveloper.com

And then visit your community site as you normal would.

If your community is not DNS masked

Go to the staging Affiliate Center:

http://staging.kickapps.com/user/displayAffiliateLoginPage.kickAction

And log in with your webmaster credentials. Once logged into the staging AC, clicking Launch Site will launch a staging version of your community.

Testing REST API calls

Simply add the following entry to your ETC Host file:

66.77.79.31               api.kickapps.com

Notes about the staging environment:

The data in the staging environment will be about a week old.

We perform staging builds every day between 5 and 6 pm EST. During that time, the staging environment may exhibit reduced functionality or will be completely unavailable.

We will perform a production dump to the staging environment on Wednesday 10/28/2009 starting at approximately 5pm EST. The staging environment will be down for about five hours and should become available again around 10 pm EST on Wednesday 10/28/2009.

We will perform a release on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at around 1PM ET (5PM GMT). The release will last approximately three hours during which your KickApps community will operate normally. In this release, we will adjust our backend logic which inserts <wbr /> tags into long text strings to maintain page layout. We're restricting the triggering of that logic to unbroken text strings of 1000 characters or less. Ignoring instances of 1000+ unbroken character text strings will free up processing resources and should result in faster page loads.
