Indeed, the cheap accommodation, food and drink as well as the large selection of both essential and leisure products is of appeal to a much wider audience. Those visitors happy to mingle with the alternative crowd and the clichs that surround them can take away plenty from a stay or visit at this most famous of streets.Khao San road’s fame, or infamy, is global and there are few travel-oriented characters around the world that are not aware of what this road is all about and its leanings towards those of particular subcultures. Its reputation ensures that backpackers and travellers of specific persuasions continue to flock here and business owners continue to tailor their good and services to the needs of this community. The street’s role as a provider of cheap accommodation arose during the city’s 1982 bicentennial anniversary celebrations, during which time foreign visitors were unable to find hotel rooms and resorted to paying locals for rooms in their houses for the night. Since that time, Khao San road Bangkok has done everything it can to nurture its position as a mecca for those travelling around Southeast Asia on a shoestring and has taken on a cheap carnival-like environment.Besides cheap accommodation, Bangkok’s Khao San road serves a number of other useful purposes for those who frequent it, one of the most important of which is providing a centre at which travellers can meet, either as a rendezvous point for those already acquainted or as an environment which fosters new friendships. Secondly, the street dulls the potential for culture shock by offering visitors a gentle introduction to Thailand and its idiosyncrasies. The street’s Thai-western mix is an agreeable blend for those having never ventured beyond Europe or North America. Thai food in restaurants is tailored to suit foreign palates, western beer brands are available in bars and dcor in either type of establishment is hardly typical of the east.Thirdly, Khao San road Bangkok offers backpackers everything they need to plan, organise and execute their onward travel agendas, be it trips around Thailand only or the famous Southeast Asian circuit. Independent travel agents and the booking desks of almost every guesthouse and hotel in the area are well equipped to offer the gamut of travel related services aimed at backpacking holidaymakers.Should you wish to find fault with Khao San road, then it would not be that difficult, with opportunities to criticise at almost every level. However, why bother? If the street’s eclectic mix of Thai and western restaurants, purveyors of fake designer goods, bookshops, travel agents and abundance of care-free, thong-footed individuals is not your thing, then steer well clear and leave it to those for whom it is.

Like most European capitals, Madrid has lots of things for the tourist to do and see; many interesting tourist sights, world-famous museums and galleries, some great restaurants, cafes and bars, and the city is also host to many of the country’s main music, cultural and business events. The Madrilenian people are also well known for of partying, and there are many areas, mainly scattered around the centre of the city, which come to life at night time, such as the districts of Huertas, Tribunal, Moncloa Bilbao, and Alonso Martinez. Also the city’s main gay ‘ghetto’, Chueca, has become a popular hot spot for a mixed, hedonistic crowd whose main purpose is to enjoy themselves until the early hours of the morning. You should take note that things start late here! Especially on the weekends, when often restaurants are not open until 10.00 or 11.00pm.As soon as you have decided that you would like to visit the city, you should start looking for your ideal accommodation from the wide selection of hotels in Madrid. One of the most important factors in booking a hotel for many people is a good location, and one of the most central areas is Puerta del Sol, or Gate of the Sun in English. The square is considered to be the centre (Km 0) of the city’s road network. The area has great connection to the rest of the city, and many sights can be reached on foot as well as by public transport. The square at Puerta del Sol is also where you will find a statue of the city’s most famous symbol, the Bear and Madroo Tree, as well as many other monuments and government buildings. There is a good selection of hotels in the Puerta del Sol area, such as the Hotel Petit Palace Tres Cruces . This hotel provides 3 star accommodation right in the heart of the city. Spread over four floors (with lift/elevator) of a modern building, guest rooms are well equipped with safety deposit box, private bathroom, air conditioning and Wi-Fi internet connection. There is also the 2-star equivalent Hostal Union which lies about 600 metres from Puerta del Sol, right in the heart of the city. The hotel offers basic yet comfortable rooms at excellent rates, and is therefore very good value for money.

Known for rock-bottom eating expenses, most visitors to Thailand nevertheless overspend on food, but in Chiang Mai, deals are just around every corner. The more adventurous traveler who seeks a more authentic Thai experience or wants to make his/her travel money go even further can find cheaper, and often tastier, alternatives if they know what to look for. Many other long-term visitors are baffled when I tell them of my favorite venues, where I get a huge plate of yellow rice with fried chicken, a cup of fish soup, half of a sliced cucumber, and ice water for 50 baht (1.43 USD). And that is on one of the most Westernized islands in Thailand!

In Chiang Mai, it gets even better. There is no reason why you cannot eat a full meal for 30 baht (86 cents) in this town, but I have also managed to hunt down places where you can eat a full meal with ice water included for 10 baht (10 cents) or get noodle soup for 3 baht (9 cents)!

After living here for eight and a half months, I have come up with these ten tips:

1: Take a Hike–
Forgo the motorbike or tuk tuk your first day or two in a new location. Skip the taxis and walk. This slows you down and gives you a feel for the place like no motorized transport ever can. The cheap eateries are often barely noticeable, as they are often in people’s homes, and signs which whizzed by on the bike are attention grabbers at a walking pace. Whoah–noodle soup for 20 baht! Know your surroundings, and you will know how to best take advantage of them.

2. Avoid the Tourist Traps–
This should go without saying, but most people are too tempted by the wide array of options in the main tourist junctions to bother venturing beyond the action. Even in chaotic Bangkok, all one has to do is walk one block either direction from Khao San Road to find delicious meals for around 30 baht and walk away full (free water or iced tea included). Did you come to Thailand to eat Thai food or hamburgers and pasta?

3. Don’t Judge a Book by…
Yawn. That age old adage once again…If you have heard it once…Ahem. Anyhow, it rings true yet again. In Thailand, the extra dollar or two in pricier restaurants is usually a reflection of increased decor rather than increased quality. In fact, the vice versa is sometimes a better rule of thumb. When you pay more, you are paying for ambience. That’s is great if this is what you want, but if you are looking for better food at lower prices, look for establishments with the bare necessities. Plastic furniture that doesn’t match. An absence of music. An antique television set blaring Thai soap operas. Hokey thrown-together decor. Many of these places are just extensions of the Thai entrepreneur’s home, and dining there will give you a much closer look at Thai culture.

4. You Just Can’t Beat the Streets–
The entire world over you will find open-air street food, and it is usually the best value in any given area. This is particularly true in Southeast Asia. Sometimes you will find the usual collection of plastic furniture out front and full service, but often you will just get a small, disposable dish or be expected to eat out of a plastic bag. If it is close enough to finger food, I tell them to save the plastic and eat it out of my hands, but of course it depends on if I’m eating a piece of barbecued chicken or chicken curry.

5. Forage at the Food Markets–
Chiang Mai’s cheapest venues offer an amazing culinary adventure, and the markets are a revelation to anyone who has never had the pleasure. Pick your way through the various stalls, sampling new dishes, or hit the collection of cheap roadside eateries which often accompany traditional markets. My favorite part about the markets is they stay open until the early hours of the morning, so if I am on my way back from the disco I can stop and fill up. I’ll tell you what–it’s a lot better than pulling through the late-night Burger King drive-throughs in America…The best Chiang Mai deals are found in the marketplaces.

6. Compare Prices–
Do not be shy about walking in to a restaurant, browsing the menu, and then leaving. Thais appreciate competition. If you feel guilty, simply smile and say, “Pop kan mai (see you again).” Do this on your walking tours to get a grasp of the local prices and to see what your options are.

7. Be Adventurous–
Try new things, even if they scare you. You might be surprised. Many foods which seem alien to Westerners will be cheap because tourists avoid them. Also, reconsider your notion of cleanliness. In your home country clean may mean pretty, but, to Thais, clean is simply clean. If a lot of people are eating there, you can rest assured the food is likely safe. Don’t blame me if you get Bangkok belly–it is going to happen to you whether you follow my advice or not. Stomach problems in Thailand are an initiation every Westerner experiences, but it is far more often the result of bacteria or spices your body is not used to rather than sanitation issues. Don’t worry.

8. When in Rome…
Ah! Not another clich…Go where the locals go! This is probably the most important, and most often overlooked, guideline to eating cheaply. Many of the local Thais are living on less 10,000 baht or less a month, and even those with more money naturally seek out the best food at the lowest prices. If I want to find a new place to eat with delicious and sanitary food, I just drive around and look for a small crowd of Thai people eating outside, but it is even better if you have a Thai friend from Chiang Mai to show you around.

9. Speak Thai–
In Thailand, there is almost always a Thai price and a “farang” price. No matter how long you stay, this will apply to you as well–you will never “become” Thai in any sense. However, open up to people and try to speak their language and you may often receive a discounted price or larger portions, especially if you’re a regular customer. One time at the Chiang Mai Aquarium, I received a major discount off the stated entrance fee after attempting broken Thai. “Raakha thourai (how much)?” I repeated, thinking I had misunderstood. “Speak Thai–get Thai price,” the young girl said with a smile.

10. Manipulate the Menu–
Do you really have to eat meat with EVERY dish? I opted for a pad thai with vegetable instead of with chicken one time, and it was topped with an omelette so big it covered the entire dish to compensate (not exactly vegetarian, afterall lol). It ended up being one of the best pad thais I’ve ever had. Do they offer special dishes served on rice for individuals (always a fantastic bargain)? Sometimes, there is no apparent price motive between different dishes, and the reasoning is a mystery. If you are on a budget, choose wisely. Let’s face it-everything on the menu is delicious!

And one more, just for good measure…

11: Eat with the Thais–
Though you should never purposely take advantage of this, Thais are some of the most generous people in the world. Stumble upon a Thai party and you will be ushered into a chair to be force-fed Thai whiskey and delicious food, even if you have no reason to be there. Say you are full and you’re plate will be repeatedly refilled. If this happens to you, DO NOT offer to pay. It would be an insult, although, if you accompany less well-off Thais to a restaurant you are expected to pay. One night, while waiting to catch the morning boat across the river to Laos, I crashed a Teacher’s Cub karaoke party and ended up buddying up with the school director. We got wasted, sang “Stand by Me” for the crowd, and he invited me to come stay with his family for an extended period. If you really get in well with Thais you may have the pleasure to attend a delicious Thai home BBQ. Bring a bottle or two of beer. If you are settling in for the long-term, you may even end up throwing a few of these at your place. Not to worry–there are plenty of places to purchase heaps of cheap meat and vegetables.

In Chiang Mai, deals are not hard to come by, no matter what kind of bargain you are looking for. Even if you prefer fine dining, classy clubs, and luxury hotels, you will surely find a value that far exceeds the money you spend.

Chok dee khrab!

Fret not. Here’s a guide on how to spend the most of your night in this glittering city. Nightlife in Bangkok is so electrifying you will want to come back again for more.

Finding a trendy place to dine and wine in style is a great way to start your evening. Bangkok is home to a couple of rooftop venues where you can enjoy sweeping views of the city and the exquisite Chao Phraya River. The most famous, open-air spots include the Sky Bar (Sirocco) on Silom road (tel: +66 2 624 9999) on the 64th floor of State Tower and Moon Bar (Vertigo) (tel: +66 2 679 1200) on the 61st floor of Banyan Tree Hotel, on Sathorn road.

But if it starts pouring down, stay safe and dry at Three Sixty at Millennium Hilton Hotel (tel: +66 2 442 2000), the newest rooftop venue in Bangkok offering breathtaking 360 views. Three Sixty is roofed so you don’t need good weather to have a good time.

Get yourself a map of Bangkok before planning the rest of your evening. Famous among party-goers of all ages and tastes, Sukhumvit is the longest and perhaps the hippest road in Bangkok, boasting a variety of nightlife venues. It is on this happening road where you can find Nana Plaza on Sukhumvit soi 4 and soi Cowboy, off Sukhumvit soi 23, the notorious zones of dodgy go-go bars.

Hanky-panky business aside, Sukhumvit is also home to many hip clubs, pubs and bars including the white and stylish Bed Supperclub on Sukhumvit soi 11 (tel: +66 2 651 3557) and Q Bar (+66 2 252-3274), also on the same soi, well-known among tourists, expats and locals, offering a full range of Cuba cigars.

While most of you might only want to mingle with the same crowds you have back home, but some want to try something different. Visiting local venues is an eye-opening experience. You can see for yourself what locals do when they go out. Try Escudo on Sukhumvit soi 55 (tel: +66 2 381 0866) and Escobar on Sukhumvit s63 (tel: +66 2 711 6565) and observe the world of Ferrari boys and daddy’s little girls flashing platinum cards.

At the centre of any Bangkok map, and another area worth exploring is the heart of Bangkok, home to two popular areas, Siam and Silom. Check out CM2 (tel: +66 2 209 8888) at Novotel Siam Square where live band plays on the main area and hip-hop tunes buzz out from the Boom Room. This place is usually secretly swarmed by ‘business’ girls and their customers. If you don’t plan to have anything to do with them, it’s still fun to watch them working their magic.

More discreet is Silom soi 2 (Patpong) where various go-go bars dot the area. Watch out for the guys who usually shove a menu of shows at you in an aggressive manner.

Located in the old town, Khao San road always makes it to the top of the list of tourist-friendly favourites, and it’s the centre of the Bangkok map for all backpackers. This area is packed with a dizzying array of clubs, pubs and bars. Grab a can of Singha beer and watch the world you are familiar with go by at one of many bars including Buddy Beer (tel: +66 2 629 4477) equipped with pool tables, Brick Bar (tel: +66 2 629 4477), or Silk Bar (tel: +66 2 281 9981).

If you aren’t exactly into crazy clubbing and drinking until dawn, try Bangkok’s many cultural treats that take place in the evening. Siam Niramit is unarguably the most famous among tourists, featuring a refined 80-miniute show about Thailand (or Siam). The awesome performance combines fascinating stories of Siam in the past, Thai spiritual beliefs and some practical Buddhist lessons with splendid visual and sound effects as well as spectacular costumes. The show is on everyday at 20:00 at the Ratchadda Grand Theatre (tel: +66 2 649 9222).

No matter what you are looking for to have a good time in Bangkok when the sun goes down, you will find it. If one night in Bangkok doesn’t make the world your oyster, nothing else probably would. Remember, you can easily get lost and Bangkok is a big place so study your map carefully before an evening out.

If you are looking for authentic antiques, you need an eye, like the vast majority of antiques on offer in this market are fake so be careful if this is the bargain you are looking for. Due to the size of the market Chatuchak is divided into separate areas depending on the type of goods sold. This makes life a little 'easier and maps in different parts can be picked up before you. The official opening of the market are usually from 9 to 00 6-00pm Saturday and Sunday, although many of the stalls actually open between 9. 00 and 10 and 00 clock near the end. There are many other markets to explore, in addition to Chatuchak. Khao San Road is a tourist hotspot and the market sells clothing, books, CDs and similar products. Near Khao San Road is the main market Banglamphu that extends over Phra Sumen Road and Chakrapong Road. This market is more popular with the locals, so a trip here if you fancy a shopping faith. Pratunam Market is open all hours of day and is one of the best places in Bangkok salire cheap clothes, fabrics and textiles. Un po 'fuori mano to find in this market the crossroads Ratchaprarop and Phetburi. Further down the road is Phetburi Nai welding (also Nai Lert) market, which is a smaller version of Chatuchak. If you like your bargain hunting at night, then Patpong night market may be of interest. Very popular with tourists to find the standard market, but prices are not competitive, as you can find elsewhere. Night markets favored by many as the temperatures are slightly lower after Sunday, and this makes the negotiations for a pleasant slightly 'more experience. Temperatures in Thailand are relatively high, but all year is a little 'cooler from November to mid February, so this is something to consider when booking your flights to Bangkok.

Other than that, the neighborhood is also a multitude of wonders and sounds. The Khao San Road Market attracts thousands of tourists every day in search of pleasant amenities of the area. Among the main attractions of the area, markets, Banglamphu are places that are usually less expensive store, so the majority of visitors are young travelers and residents.

Among other things you can, clothing, leather goods like belts, shoes and handbags, shoes and silver jewelry. Do not expect air-conditioned shopping malls and designer brands here, everything is inexpensive and, above all false. The market was a hive of activity during the anni’70 when the hippies a Banana Pancake Trail often stopped here to buy clothes. Even today, the markets in this sector, with the funny t-shits, Denims, hats cheap in hair dyes and to help you achieve this backpacking hippie look.

The roads in Khao San Road and other areas of Banglamphu yet distinct quality Thai about them, something that has disappeared by the time the tourist hotspot of Sukhumvit and Silom. What is becoming increasingly cosmopolitan and business-oriented city, it is good to note that the romantic trials of anni’70 are still living in Bangkok.

In addition to the collections of the market, a large number of restaurants are also path. The cafes and restaurants offering cheap food for tourists. Even though many of them offer Thai cuisine a number of foreign European courts, there is also for the palate of the tourists.

A few places of cultural interest, such as the Democracy Monument and a collection of historic Buddhist temples are also found in this area. A few shops selling Thai handicrafts and souvenirs can be found near the golden towers of Wat, or temple. A few, such as Bangkok Serviced Apartments Royal President of the region and also provide excellent opportunities for long-stay travelers.

One of the most popular cuisines in the world. Beautiful beaches and islands. Friendly, charming people. Warm throughout the year. Discounted prices for most things. Colorful, magical temple. An exotic culture preserved through the centuries in a country that has never been colonized. If we are talking about? Thailand, of course!
Why Thailand
You can travel in Thailand, if you want friendship and smiles of the Thai landscape and cultural heritage of Thai-land. Thailand certainly is the “Land of Smiles”, which you can smile, too. E ‘davvero enamoring and exotic country, known for its hospitality, culture, landscape, cuisine and lifestyle overall.
A frequent choice in international travel
Located in the heart of Asia, Thailand has been to involve foreign visitors for decades. Previous visitors return year after year, and so spreads the floor for the first time visitors flooding a. The number of visitors from abroad in Thailand and has continued to increase year after year of being broken, as well as international visitors flock to this fascinating country.
Leaves, made memorable ONES
Probably the most exotic destinations in Southeast Asia, Thailand offers travelers and tourists a wide range of choices of vacation. No matter if you’re a budget traveler to a foreign country, with a limited budget, or a heeled travelers who wish to relax and enjoy the best, Thailand has something for you. It ’still possible to create a pristine part of the beautiful white sand beach, that was all for them. Laze away the day on a hammock under a palm tree on a beach miles long without anyone else in sight, swaying in the wind under a sky of clouds, like waves breaking gently against the soft white sand. It may be due. Welcome to Thailand!
Make informed decisions
This could be largely separated into two separate sections. The first part contains general information about traveling in Thailand during the second part goes into detail about some of the places to visit and some of them about my feelings and experiences. Bangkok
Legal length for your stay in THAILAND
Visitors from most Western countries to Thailand will be allowed 30 days after arrival in Thailand. This alone is not a visa. If you really like Thailand, you can leave the country immediately and are still 30 days. Can not go on indefinitely, and after 90 days in Thailand in a period of 180 days, you can not play for 90 days, unless you apply for a visa at a Thai embassy or consulate first outside of the country. (There is more to the whole issue of visas in life and work section.) Holders of South Korea, Brazil and Peru passport 90 days to obtain permission. Many developing countries in order to give approval for a shorter period, and visitors from some countries may have a visa in advance. You can specify in advance for a tourist visa for two months, in fact, be expanded in another country for 30 days at any Immigration Office. The extension will cost 1900 baht. I think you can order a tourist visa with multiple entries, although personally I think only for tourist purposes, three months is a lot.
LANDING IN THAILAND
Most people arrive in Thailand to fly in Suwannaphum Bangkok International Airport. For the first time in Thailand, it is possible for the first time in Asia, may be more of a ‘confusion. You are more than likely jump from the plane after a rather long and probably you want for your hotel as soon as possible.
ACCOMMODATION
No matter what your budget, you can use to do something. Bangkok and Thailand has a wide choice of places to stay. If you want the opulence of the Oriental Hotel, the filth of Khao Sarn Road Backpacker hole or somewhere in between, you can add to Bangkok. And in Thailand, you will be able to find something to suit your needs, at least most of the time in most places. Bangkok’s top-end hotels continue to be evaluated. The Oriental Hotel, the Dusit Thani, The Peninsula and the Shangri-La is mentioned often when you hear the top hotel in the world will be discussed. This is a five star hotel in every aspect and for most travelers to Thailand, you have all the major hotel chains such as Marriott, Sheraton, Regent, Hyatt represented. They also have a good Thai hotel chains, such as Amari. And then there are a lot of stand-alone hotels. At the lowest end of the scale we have pensions. I heard that the camping is available in some places, but they saw a snake show, too many, I believe that a loss of Miss, thank you. The beaches and islands in Thailand, the most famous spots such as Pattaya, Phuket and Ko Samui are oozing with a variety of accommodation options. But this is not always the case with some of the most out of the track type places. It should come as no surprise that the most distant from you, usually more difficult is to provide high quality housing. Even in some of the islands of the quality of accommodation is not always so good – and sometimes price, while its low cost compared to international standards, can be expensive by local Thai standards. Places such as Ko Samet and Ko Chang are classic examples where, in my personal view, housing prices are actually higher than they should be.
Khao San Road
If you are traveling on a budget then Khao San Road is very well situated for all visitors to Bangkok, as a walk along the river and the interesting and historically significant city. The need to see the Grand Palace is about a mile away os, walk easy, even in Bangkok, the heat oppressive. Thailand is a country of travel and if you are a real budget, you can gut. Let’s take a look at the cost of accommodation in Bangkok first. A room on the upper end tends to hotels for 5000 baht per night or more. The best places, like the Oriental May also doubled. As I said before, a hotel in Bangkok are really excellent, and the top places are just fabulous. My choice is the Sukhothai, which is a wonderful combination of Thai style with modern comforts. It is worthwhile if only for a walk, as it really is that good! As Bangkok can be very difficult to get around the terrible traffic conditions and the fact that the underground to Skytrain and only a small part of the city, one must think carefully about the region in which one chooses to remain. The most frequent are Sukhumvit Road, Silom Road, the Siam Square / Pratunam area, and the river Banglampoo prices ccommodation in Phuket and Ko Samui are largely the same in Bangkok. These are now a major international stations with lots of fantastic places to stay and, as such, the prices reflect what people are willing to pay for them. On the other hand, Pattaya and Chiang Mai are both of high quality available at prices that simply do not exist – at least for what the money – in Bangkok. This is a reason to visit Pattaya and Chiang Mai – it gets very good value for money for accommodation.
Moving THAILAND
Air Travel
Thai Airways is the main airline for domestic flights and flights in Thailand are relatively cheap, times are good with lots of flights to destinations. In addition, aircraft are generally in good condition. Thai Airways flies to more parts of the country, but not all. The exception, in which Thailand does not fly is the tropical paradise of Ko Samui. There is only one airline that flies between Bangkok and Ko Samui, which is Bangkok Airways, which, in my opinion, even at the airport at Samui. The price for the flight from Bangkok to Ko Samui on Bangkok Airways is more expensive than the trip to Thailand to fly from Bangkok to Phuket, many people question that, with the feeling that really stings when Bangkok Airways to fly between Bangkok and Ko Samui. Bangkok Airways also flies to some neighboring countries and domestic flights operating in Thailand, but it is the way to Ko Samui, which are best known. Bangkok Airways has sought to position himself, and now markets as the Asia’s Boutique responsible. .
Traveling by car
Rent a car or bicycle is a great way for about Thailand. The quality of the roads in Thailand is generally very good. Rental car is very cheap in Thailand, a little ’surprising, given that the cost of buying a car in Thailand is much more expensive than in the West. In general, the leadership of the province of Thailand is easy, the drivers are less aggressive, it’s much less traffic – and the further you get from Bangkok, less traffic and congestion found. However, wherever you are, the characters are usually only available in Thailand. In some places, and Pattaya is an exception, some road signs are in Thai. Fortunately, road signs are in Thai and English at the national level, that I was very impressed. Petrol in Thailand is cheap, and in March 2007, the price is about 26 baht per liter for the highest grade, 95 octane gasoline.
High-low season, there are such serious SECTIONS:
The tourist season runs from about late November to mid April. On certain occasions, particularly Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and Songkran, the most beautiful beaches and islands are very busy, so that housing can be a po ‘of a problem. Hotels and B & B, their prices way – and people are willing to pay. So if you have all these times, it is too early. The Songkran period really the end of tourism season for the year. There are a number of other holidays throughout the year and for some this holiday nightlife and nightclubs and bars can be closed – and the sale of alcohol is prohibited. Some bars slip boys in brown a little ‘money so that they remain open. In general, it is the Buddhist holidays and 5 December, the birthday of His Majesty the King.
