Happy Weekend to you! My apologies for getting this preview up so late. I am celebrating 5 years of marriage to my wonderful hubby, so I took a brief break.

Are you ready for more coupons? You can expect 2 inserts in tomorrow’s paper- 1 Smart Source and 1 RedPlum. The inserts are actually pretty generous, so I would recommend picking up an extra paper this week. I noticed several coupons for baking and holiday food items.

Remember that coupons do vary by region. If there is a great coupon missing from your insert, you can always order it by mail from The Coupon Master.

Today marks the end of the first week of The 30-Day Giving Challenge. What an amazing week it has been! The Facebook and Twitter reports have been so much fun to see.

I have several more causes and charities I plan to highlight throughout the month. It’s not too late to get involved!

I am continually amazed by the growing participation in the Challenge. We are currently at 581 participants on Facebook, and 70 bloggers. The interwebz are the perfect vehicle for spreading the movement of generosity.

Have you heard about Noah? A five year old boy in Michigan, Noah is currently battling cancer is not expected to live much longer. His family is celebrating Christmas this week at his request, and people from all over the world are mailing him Christmas cards and gifts. The power of social media played a huge roll in getting the word out about this precious little boy.

A few years ago, my family’s finances were in such disarray that giving even a small amount seemed like an impossible stretch. Thankfully we made it through that difficult time with a lot of discipline and God’s grace, but that is a whole other post.

Perhaps you are finding it tough right now to be generous in this precarious economy. With a little creativity, determination and perhaps a mouse, you can find ways to give that will cost you nothing but your time.

Here are 5 FREE ways you can start giving today:

1. Give Blood. In times of crisis, it is an important reminder of the need to give blood. If you are eligible to give blood or have questions about donating, you can call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (800-448-3543) or visit givelife.org.

2. Visit “click to donate” websites. Here are a few I recommend:

• Free Rice (Play the trivia game)
• The Animal Rescue Site
• The Breast Cancer Site
• The Hunger Site
• Welch’s Harvest of Help

3. Be a coupon fairy. While you are out shopping, leave an extra coupon or 2 on the shelf near the corresponding item. It is always a blessing to find an unexpected coupon for something you were going to buy anyway!

4. Plant a Tree- with Swag Bucks! I wrote about that here.

5. Join Freecycle. Freecycle is a worldwide gifting movement that reduces waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills. Post items you no longer need on the forums, and watch your clutter shrink while blessing another- no strings attached!

We are now 5 days into the challenge and I already feel a change in my heart. Giving is becoming second nature, and opportunities to help others seem to fall in my lap.

This is ultimately what I was hoping would occur, I just did not expect it to so soon!

The generosity movement continues to spread with over 500 participants on Facebook and 67 bloggers have RSVPd. It is truly heart-warming to see the enthusiasm and participation!

Today I would like to highlight a charity that I am sure most of us know and love: Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse.

If you are a couponer, you likely have a nice little stockpile of items just perfect for packing in a shoe box. A shoe box that will touch a child this Christmas. I rarely mention a good Target deal, but this week is not one to miss!

Keri Lynn @ She Saved emailed me with a heads up about some amazing Target Toy coupons which are now available to print online. These are a rare treat, so be sure to print them now if you plan to get some Christmas shopping done early.

Remember that Target coupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons (1 of each per item). Coupons.com often has Hasbro or Leapster toy coupons available so be sure and check to see if there are any great match ups.

Day 3 brought more participants to the Challenge. Families all across America (and even China, I hear!) are jumping on board to spread the spirit of generosity.

There were some inspiring stories shared on the Facebook wall and also on blogs. I will share a quick one of my own:

Last night, as I often do, I was watching the Dave Ramsey Show before bed. The topic of the show was actually GIVING. Perhaps Dave heard about my challenge, huh? {giggle}

Anyway, it was a wonderful show, and totally solidified the mission of the challenge for me. One charity in particular that Dave mentioned briefly happened to grab my heart.

This website:: www.freechildslaves.com was started by a 9 year old boy who was inspired to help stop child slavery in Ghana. So today, I checked out the site and made a donation as part of my personal giving challenge.

Not three hours later, I received an email that I had won a $50 Gift Card in an online drawing I don’t even remember entering! I was blown away by this unexpected blessing.

Dave concluded the show with this statement:

Remember to live like no one else, so later you can GIVE like no one else.

I love this! When we choose to honor God with our finances by spending less than we earn and eliminating consumer debt, we ultimately have more to GIVE.

I do want to reiterate that it is not necessary to give financially during this challenge. You can give your time, your talents, or simply perform an act of kindness for a stranger.
