As usual it is all hands on deck here at Kay Dees Crafts. With Christmas fast approaching we have several new collections including the Me to You Winter Wonderland range, Forever Friends A Christmas Tale and Fizzy Moon Festive Fun.

We have several new buttons added to our Dress it Up range including penguins, fat cats, angel wings and several designs from the Sew Fun collection.

We are currently in the process of moving our website.
Sarah is busy working away on the basic design and furiously adding products so that we can get up and running again.
Many customers have emailed with order requests that we will fulfill wherever possible. Don't hesitate to send us an email if you can't wait for the new site.

The site will be more flexible but hopefully you the buyer won't notice too many changes - I hate it when supermarkets move their products around! The major rework is behind the scenes and for our use to enable us to list more items for sale with real time stock level updates.

We currently have over 2000 products so there will be twice as much to choose from as well as new ranges including Pampered Pets.

I had asked the help of a teenager to get us onto Facebook, but said teenager now has a new puppy so has much more important things to do! (Charlotte hope the training is still going great for you both)

Finding the time to do blog posts is really hard and I have found they have become more like adverts than anything else. Not what I planned at all. Having had a dig around on Facebook we have found it appears to be an expanded Twitter and a condensed blog rolled into one that is more user friendly and interactive......... Hoping that short and simple links to new products, discussions and fan photos will be quicker and easier to manage.

Yes we said fan photos. I have had quite a few emails from crafters that we link our blog to. We ask for photos and a brief description but as we well know time is of the essence. Hopefully people will use the Facebook page to show off their designs, ask us questions and enquire about new stock lines they are hoping to find.

Two new colours have been added to the Capsule Collection from Papermania - Boysenberry and Blueberry Pie.

Only selected items have been added so far to the range - paper packs, mini buttons, ribbon and ribbon bows.

Boysenberry is filled with soft pinks and purples.

Blueberry Pie is filled with soft shades of blue.

The paper packs are slightly different offering 32 sheets in 16 different designs, and the boutique ribbon now comes in 6 metre packs instead of 5 metres. We are hoping that Docrafts will bring out more products in these 2 new colour ranges as we think they will be very popular for Spring craft projects.

I know, I know Christmas is almost here and we are already looking to Easter!

Paper flowers

Paper flowers have just arrived at Kay Dees Crafts. No sooner have we finished our Christmas cards and scrapbooking pages and we are looking towards the next project.

Flowers are a year round embellishment and these gorgeous embossed flower shapes are fab for adding to cards and papercraft projects.

These paper blossoms come in a variety of colours, designs and sizes and are perfect to layer together and fix with adhesives or brads, creating a 3D embellishment for any craft or card making project.

We have been flat out for weeks now with no time for chatting, blogging or even emailing. Things are starting to slow down as we get ready for our holiday and I am well and truly ready for the break. It is great to be busy it keeps my mind and body active but phew I am glad the rush is over :)

So what is Christmas to you and your family? Is it time to reflect, time to party, time to get together with friends and loved ones or time to relax and unwind?

For us it is a mix. We will spend Christmas day (or some of it) with our son and truly relax and think of the year gone by and how fortunate we have been. We close down the shop for a couple of weeks and really enjoy our time off together.

Whatever, wherever and however you spend this Festive period I hope it brings you peace, joy and happiness.

Halloween is nowhere near as 'big' here in the UK as it is in the USA and Canada - but it is getting more and more popular every year. The shops are filled with fancy dress costumes, sweets and pumpkins.

We have one or two craft items with a Halloween theme too. New additions to the Daisy & Dandelion craft range are Pumpkin & Aubergine - two very cute (and naughty) looking cats.

Introducing Words like Honey to Kay Dees Crafts.

Christian Scrapbooking and card making products including 12 x 12 papers, 8 x 8 paper packs, decoupage, peel offs and clear stamps.

We currently have 12 x 12 papers from the Scripture Text collection and the Love Collection.

Clear polymer stamps that include Christmas text and images, Crosses, trees and Religious text suitable for blessings, birthdays and also In Sympathy.

Words like Honey provide Christian Product to retailers across the country. Words like Honey started as a company when Mandy and Tim found sourcing Christian Christmas Stamps fairly easy but finding Easter stamps with Christian images rather than eggs and rabbits almost impossible. So they decided to start designing their own products under the name of "Words Like Honey". This has given them a comprehensive and steadily growing range of wooden backed rubber stamps and photo polymer clear stamps.

Tim and Mandy then made contact with a printer who, with the aide of some very sophisticated new technology, was able to print 12"x 12" scrapbook papers and decoupage to a very high quality - enabling them to produce papers incorporating photographs and to capture detail that is unusually lacking in scrapbooking and decoupage.

We know from questions we have received that this area of the Craft Industry is sadly lacking in high quality products and we are delighted to have found Words like Honey. This small family run business will hopefully prove to be as successful as they deserve.

Christmas is coming

Where does the time go? I am positive that a year now only has 8 months, it seems to go by so quickly. Blink and you miss summer (not that difficult here in the UK) and before you know it the central heating is back on, jumpers are pulled out from the back of the wardrobe and comfy, warm boots are the footwear of choice.

Personally I like Autumn and Winter. I like the quiet it seems to bring and the fresh, crisp mornings and early evenings. I also like getting my hands on the new craft ranges that appear as summer starts to fade.

Forever Friends Cosy Christmas range is now available. Seriously cute new designs that are perfect for everyone this Christmas. The decoupage kits have twistage included and Docrafts have introduced framed decoupage packs in A4 and A5 size too.

Coming very soon are the new additions to the Honey & Hugs range - Festive Frolics. I have only seen the stock photos but these products will not disappoint H&H fans.........hopefully I will have these listed tomorrow and they will be available for pre-order.

Our novelty buttons have just arrived. New designs on old themes and brand new additions too including ivory poinsettas and Christmas cookies.

Keep an eye on our Christmas section for great deals - there really is nothing like receiving a handmade card at Christmas time. We are stocking our shelves with some great value products but some are very limited and once they are gone, they are gone.

Living the sweet life.

Cupcakes are always a firm favourite with card makers, scrapbookers and crafters. Indeed I have yet to meet anyone who doesn't find cupcakes appealing. Personally I think it goes back to childhood when cake didn't have calories, you didn't care about crumbs on your clothes or icing round your face! Making fairy cakes was always loads of fun and easy to do too. Cupcakes make me happy :-)

New additions to this fab range of colour co-ordinated paper craft items from the Papermania Capsule Collection.

Printed Paper packs, ribbon reels, ribbon bows, glitter sparkles, ink pads and embellishment sets now all available at Kay Dees Crafts.

The paper packs are A5 size and have 30 unique designs all printed onto quality 160gsm paper.

Dress it Up Craft Buttons at Kay Dees Crafts

We have some new additions to our Dress it Up novelty craft buttons range. We have around 40 new themes including milk shakes, ice cream floats, strawberries and fruit salad perfect for summer themed craft projects.

We also have some new funky colour schemes including colour my world, princess palette and zippity do dah.

I am adding our new buttons and also our new arrivals from Docrafts too. This week has certainly been busy! I also have an editorial in a magazine coming out soon - more information about that in another blog.

Thank you to everyone who has sent comments about the new look at Kay Dees Crafts. The only niggle that was mentioned was the size of the font in the descriptions - I am working my way through everything to make it easier on the eye.

Papermania Capsule Collection

New Papermania Capsule Collection mini buttons. Yes I know - more buttons!

These buttons are fab and I am delighted to add them to our range of craft buttons.

The mini buttons come in the Capsule Collection shades of Red Hot, Aqua, Verde, Sunshine, Heather and Monochrome. Available as full colour buttons or polka dots.

The colours come in packs of 100 and the polka dots come in packs of 60 - fantastic value for money.

These buttons are approx 7mm and are perfect for cardmaking, scrapbooking, sewing and quilting projects.

Hopefully we will have the full Capsule Collection range at Kay Dees Crafts very soon! Particularly looking forward to seeing the ribbon packs and ribbon bows.

The only thing that I am not impressed with is the amount of packaging these mini buttons come in. The majority of the packaging is plastic which is not recycleable. I know the capsule bit is the name of the range and it is very eye catching - but it is excessive. Reminds me of the oodles of packaging Easter Eggs come in. You can open and reclose the capsule when you are using the buttons, which is handy, but it really could have been half the size it is.

Unusual for me to criticise a new range but I suppose I have got used to the minimal, but perfectly adequate, packaging our buttons usually arrives in.
