His name is Amit Gupta and he runs a site called Photojojo — a site with brilliant little ideas of how to make photography fun!

My only short fame to claim probably is when Amit found my site a few years back and wrote me an email… I still remember the opening line… and if memory serves me right, it read something like this…

I obviously had to write you after seeing your photos and my curiosity was piqued seeing that we share the same name halfway across the globe…

We landed up exchanging a few emails and I knew from that brief interchange that he was a great soul.

Late last year he was diagnosed with Leukemia and when I read this my heart sank! You’d probably know if you follow my twitter/facebook feeds. Luckily for Amit there are hundreds of well wishers… Family, friends, loved ones, acquaintances who had met him at some point and even those who he had never met… People started organising donor drives and fundraising tirelessly across the globe to give Amit a second chance on life. How hard would it be for a parent to know their child is here for a limited time… how hard would it be for Amit himself to go through this ticking timebomb… I cannot fathom.

I was very pleased to read today that Amit has found a 10/10 match donor and he gets admitted today to Dana Farber in Boston. He sure has a long road ahead of him but am confident he will come out of it laughing.

Good luck with it all Amit Gupta. I know you will come out smiling. All the best!

As for the rest of us who take life so amazingly easily knowing almost many tomorrows are granted and given… it is probably a reminder to say — one never knows what lies ahead of us… If you love someone and never could really say it out loud, maybe the time is now while your still breathing and have a happy life.

Welcome 2012!! Happy New Year! Hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year break. How quickly did 2011 go? And before you know we’re already racing through 2012! Wishing you all a very happy and prosperous and great 2012. May all your dreams take flight and may this year bring you lots of joy, happiness & health.

I did take some photos during the break but nearly not as much as I did in the past few years. As the year picks up am sure to though. Here are some Hydrangea shots in colour and black and white from the front garden around our unit. Click on the photos for a closer look.

Can you tell am running out of ideas to post? Well here is the salubrious view from the potty The young lucky bamboo plant was an addition to the family today. Isn’t it a nice view even though its right out our bathroom window? Both in summer and winter this window offer beautiful soft filtered natural light that streams through our place not to mention the lovely birds and the greenery.

Jagos Café at North Sydney

Consider yourself lucky, very lucky, when all you do is point your camera at your friends and they put up with you. But then friends happily pose and love to play model too, right? Tray, Pete, D and I went down to Jagos for brunch a fortnight back. The weather was good. Well HOT. Much different from the 15 degree cold night we’re in at the moment. I took some shots up close and personal, as you do! Isn’t the Nikon D7000 a charm! I’m still learning to use the various features of this new work horse. At every bend there is more to learn. Most of these are pretty much right out the camera with minor image-sharpening and exposure compensation. The colours are right out the camera as is the noise free imagery! Gee its great to be a Nikoian!
