I had the pleasure of doing an out-of-town session recently for this sweet family. Every once in a while, I am able to venture out of the Atlanta area for sessions, and Auburn is a great location as it’s just down the road from LaGrange, where 2 of my sisters live. They certainly don’t complain when I come up with another reason to bring their nephew down for a visit!

This beautiful family recently welcomed their newest blessing, Cela Grace, who joins big sisters Camille & Caroline. I had so much fun working with all 3 of these girls. The twins are close in age to my son, so it felt fairly familiar spending time with them. I can only imagine what a blast they must be to hang out with everyday…they are at such a fun age!

At 17 days old, Cela Grace handled the entire session like a pro. She even gave her sweet mommy those beautiful sleepy pictures that we were hoping for.

I had the BEST time with sweet baby Jack and his family. 3 month sessions can sometimes be a challenge as the subject is no longer in that sleepy newborn phase… but not yet ready for some of the things that older babies can do, either.

Jack, however, clearly wanted to prove to me that I need to drop those ideas of 3 month old sessions sometimes being a challenge. He was ready with the wide awake smiley expressions as well as the sweet sleepy moments. Mom and dad were so easy to work with and great to spend time with… and his canine brother, Webb, is clearly ready for his own modeling career. Did I mention what a great time I had with this session? If possible, I’m having even more fun going through & editing their final images!

Did I mention how thankful I was for the beautiful weather we were blessed with last weekend? I didn’t even mind that I had to cram in 3 reschedules… it all worked out in the end & I couldn’t have asked for better weather! I met up with Addison and her parents last Saturday and we had a wonderful time playing in the sunshine! This sweet family brought along their beautiful Border Collie, as well, to make for a complete family session! This dog lover LOVES when families bring along their canine members… you never know what you’re going to get, but it’s so worth it in the end if we can just get a few good shots with them included!

Addison, along with being an incredibly beautiful child, was such an easy subject… not always the case with the 2 year bunch. She could not have been sweeter, though, and even made it through 3 wardrobe changes.

Heather & Stephen, thank you so much for sharing your sweet family with me! I had the best time with all four of you and can’t wait for you to see all of your final images! Here are some teasers for now…

Sweet, blue-eyed baby Walker kicked off a beautiful few days of sessions for me… I could not have been happier to see the sun & warmer temps return, just in time for the weekend!

After 2 consecutive weekends of either cold rain or snow, I think we were due for some good weather for at least a few days!

Of course, all of this crazy weather has wreaked havoc on my session scheduling… I think I’ve had more rescheduled sessions than not lately. Walker’s mommy & I had to reschedule his session a couple of times until we finally decided to give the afternoon a shot. Normally, I prefer to do baby sessions in the morning as younger babies are usually happier first thing. Unfortunately, the mornings have been so cold lately… especially for the littlest ones. We had our hearts set on doing something outdoors, however, so we went for it…and Walker was such a sweet baby for us. He had some of the sweetest expressions to share with me, his mommy & his sweet grandmother who came to join in the fun!

Stacey, I’m so glad we were finally able to make it work! It was wonderful meeting all of you…hope you’ll enjoy a few sneak peeks for now!

I had 2 days – back-to-back – of COLD maternity sessions. I am so thankful to my clients for being such troopers through this crazy weather. Despite the cold, wind, and at times, rain, I really did have a blast with both sessions and love the pictures we were able to get while enduring the elements!

This sweet family is expecting their newest addition in a very short time, so I’m trying my best to get their images completed before their baby boy makes his arrival! I am so glad we were able to fit in this session. Big sister Katelyn was such a pro – it’s not always the easiest task getting an older sibling to pose with mommy’s belly. She did a great job, though, and I think this family will be proud to have these images to remember this special time.

Jamie & Ashley, thank you so much for braving the cold with me. It was wonderful working with all 3 of you – I look forward to seeing you again soon and meeting your newest blessing!

How do you make the most of a rainy & cold Friday afternoon? A little over a week ago, I was fortunate to be able to make the most of mine with a beautiful couple – capturing a special time in their lives at what might be one of my very favorite places to ever photograph.

Nancy & Brannon are expecting their first baby this spring. They spent a recent weekend at Barnsley Gardens & I was thrilled that they asked me to stop by during their vacation. It was wonderful seeing friends I hadn’t seen in quite a few years and also having the opportunity to work on the grounds of Barnsley. The rain & cold threatened to scrap our plans, but Nancy was a trooper and I’m so glad she still wanted to go through with our session! I had such a blast during my time there, despite the dreary weather.

snow scenes ~ february 2010 ~ dallas, georgia photography

If I had known we had a snow day like this headed our way, I might have held off on my “snow day” post from back in January. Once again, no laughing from any of my midwestern or northern friends reading this, as I know our 4 inches don’t begin to compare to all of the snow you’ve seen this winter… but I have to admit this was a pretty big deal for us. This was the most snow I’ve seen in I don’t know how many years… and definitely the most snow that our 2 year old son & 5 year old Weim had ever seen.

This was the perfect snow. It was perfect for making snow angels, having snow ball fights, building snowmen… all of the typical snow fun activities you could think of. At any given time, you could hear a great snowball fight going on somewhere in our neighborhood. There’s nothing like a rare snow for us southerners to bring out the kid in EVERYONE. We even bundled up and went on a walk after things warmed up today… only to run into people sledding down some of the great hills in our neighborhood – kids and adults alike.

As I type this, it’s all beginning to melt away. Again, the perfect snow… have a little fun, take a few pictures, and then watch it all melt away so we can (safely) return to the roads. Some of us forgot to pick up our bread & milk beforehand, you know!

I first met Miss Ella when she was 5 months old. I still remember that session well as we scheduled it last minute in hopes of getting some baby shots for Mother’s Day surprises, and wound up having to do the session during the late afternoon hours. When you’re working with young children & babies, and trying to capture their “best” moments… usually it’s wise to work in the morning when most are truly at their best. I didn’t know going into Ella’s session last year how things might turn out… but she was such a sweet baby & gave us shots that are still some of my very favorites.

She didn’t disappoint for this session, either. With my busy fall/Christmas/end of year schedule, we wound up having to schedule her first session about a month after her big birthday. Sickness & crazy weather pushed us back even further, but our day finally came & it was a beautiful one! We started inside but then got to venture outside for a few shots, which was fun (and rare!) this time of year… and totally gave me spring fever!

Paul & Janelle, thank you so much for having me over again to photograph your sweet little one! I had a great time working with you all again. Hope you’ll enjoy these sneak peeks for now!

I could not have been happier to do another session with this family. I first photographed Parker & Davis when they were 15 weeks old. What a treat it was to work with them again & see how much they’d grown & changed!

These boys have SUCH beautiful blue eyes…can you say future heartbreakers?! What fun it is to photograph them, and kuddos to mom for dressing them in baby blue!!

Oh my goodness… what a sweetheart baby Pearse is! I keep catching myself smiling at the screen as I edit her pictures… those cheeks, those eyelashes… simply divine!

I had such a nice time during my session with Pearse and her mommy this week. We even got to step outside for a brief moment for some shots. It was pretty windy, but I couldn’t resist with this family’s beautiful yard… so many beautiful optons… I can’t wait to return once the weather warms up & capture this sweet little one as she grows!

Corinne, it was wonderful meeting you this week! Thank you so much for the opportunity to capture these early moments for your family! I hope you’ll enjoy some of my favorites so far!
