Who from Lambda Delta is on Twitter?

For those of us on Twitter, today is Follow Friday. What is Follow Friday? Glad you asked.

It is a day in which Twitter users suggest a number of their favorite Twitter users for one reason or another. This is generally followed with the hash tag of #FF or the more out of date #followfriday.

There are a few of us from Lambda Delta using the social network, some of us more than others. But I felt that in order to get this site back in the minds of our brothers I would post a link to my list of Lambda Delta alums on Twitter. Feel free to follow the list for an updated list of LD folks on Twitter. If you are not on the list just follow me and send me a direct message (or @ me) so I know you need to be added.

Personally I feel that Twitter is a great way to communicate back and forth with people and groups. So if you are looking for a way to connect with like-minded people outside of Facebook, check it out! There are some of us who will be more than ready to welcome you and help you out!

The Kappa Kappa Psi Lambda Delta Alumni blog is a source of information for all alumni of the Lambda Delta chapter, honorary brothers of the Lambda Delta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, active members of the Lambda Delta chapter and others associated with Kappa Kappa Psi on a world-wide scale.

The primary purpose of this site is to update alumni of the Lambda Delta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi with group events, fundraisers and relationships within the brotherhood after graduation.

The Lambda Delta alumni are NOT associated with any alumni association as a group. Individuals of the Lambda Delta chapter may have individual memberships to fraternity oriented alumni associations, but in no way does this site represent a local alumni association representing the Lambda Delta chapter or Shippensburg University.

Any fund raising efforts communicated through the site will be directly deposited to the Lambda Delta alumni fund, which is used to help finance the active Lambda Delta chapter, the Shippensburg University band program or group activities involving Lambda Delta alumni, family, and friends. All proceeds benefit the Lambda Delta alumni funding.

Kappa Kappa Psi has a strict policy on alcohol. No photos involving or alluding to the consumption of alcohol were taken during official fraternity functions.

This is a website dedicated to preserving the history and brotherhood of the Lambda Delta chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi's alumni following.

Comments are moderated on a daily basis but rarely will be deleted. Comments may be deleted at the site administrator's discretion and may be deleted for any of the following reasons;

Any comment breaking traditional rules of Kappa Kappa Psi's codes and by-laws
Personal attacks on any individual, chapter, group or the fraternity
Spamming, or advertising within a link

Eighth annual Phillies outing scheduled

For the eighth consecutive season Brother Kevin Deissler is organizing a Lambda Delta alumni outing at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The date is Sunday August 22, 2010. The defending National League champions will be taking on the Washington Nationals in an afternoon game.

Tickets will sell for $30 a ticket, which will include a $10 credit to use for food, beverages, and souvenirs at any stand in the ballpark. Also $2 of every ticket sold will go toward the Lambda Delta alumni account to better serve the active chapter and band in the future.

Deissler is requesting money as soon as possible and asks that you RSVP with him by January 31st at the latest if you plan on attending. You can leave a comment below to be forwarded to him if you do not have his contact information.

Organizational meeting scheduled

The [EDIT: "group of interested individuals" will meet] the weekend of January 30, 2010. A meeting will be held at the Mleczko household. Any and all plans previously discussed, as well as relationships and connections needed to take the next step will be reviewed.

Lambda Delta Bowl-a-thon

The active chapter will be holding a bowl-a-thon on January 23, 2010. anyone interested in helping out in any way should contact Debra Mayer (leave a comment to be forwarded to Deb).

Money raised will of course be used to help support the Shippensburg University band program. The Lambda Delta chapter will be bowling two games and you can help by donating a flat donation of any amount or by sponsoring a brother with a donation per pin for any amount.

The chapter would love to have some support form the alumni if possible.

Greetings Kappa Kappa Psi brothers of present and past and Happy New Year!

Just a quick note to inform you that this site has not been forgotten. It has been left on the back burner for a while but 2010 brings a new dedication to taking this website to the next stage. What is that stage exactly? Well, I guess you will have to find out in due time.

In the mean time how about we discuss some goals for 2010? What will you be doing to strive for the highest in 2010? Feel free to discuss below.

End of July Update

Hello there! It is the end of July and this site has not seen an update since July 7! Totally skipped over Founder's Day and mentioning the anniversary of the Lambda Delta chapter, and National Convention breezed by.

So what now?

Well just a couple quick updates to share.

First, the next national convention, in 2011, will take place in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sure sounds nice!

Second, there is some stuff in the works for this site. July ended up being a little busier than I expected but August should see some good stuff going on around these parts so stay tuned!

In the News...

Brother Erich Hawbaker has his name in the news in Chambersburg. He was quoted in a recent story regarding a tax rally at the Franklin County Courthouse.

Erich Hawbaker, a member of the Franklin County Young Republicans, drew similar response when he talked about the spending habits of the Obama administration and current Congress since the beginning of the year.
"A trillion dollars later, what have we got," he asked. "Did unemployment go down? Did the stock market go up? Did it keep GM and Chrysler out of bankruptcy?"
He, too, urged the crowd to "let (politicians) know they are working for us."

About Your Family Colors

Thought I'd start a new feature on the site in an attempt to get people interested in the site. I'll post my first entry tomorrow but want to ask you for your input.

Each family in the Lambda Delta chapter has a different set of family colors and family letter shirts. These shirts are usually worn proudly by members of the same family on specific days or occasions and each shirt generally has a story behind it.

So what is the story behind your family colors and shirt? Send me your background info and I'll post it here to share with the rest of the community. Or you can just leave your comments in the comment section! If you have a picture to accompany your story please send it my way so we can share it with everyone!

Founder's Day 2009

For those who may have missed the news, Founder's Day will be held at the home of brother Ryan Fredericks this Saturday!

Brotherly Love Takes on a New Meaning

It's been a while since I last updated this site, so before head down to North Carolina for a vacation I wanted to make sure to send out this update.

Congratulations to brothers Jason and Rachel Mleczko! The two tied the proverbial knot a couple weeks ago. The ceremony was orchestrated by brother Alan Wadsworth!

Speaking of Alan...

Congratulations to brothers Alan Wadsworth and Sarah Caler! The two have recently announced their engagement. No word on a date yet as far as I can tell. The love continues to spread in Lambda Delta Alumniville.

The below shot was hijacked from somebodies Facebook photo albums so if it is yours let me know. It was taken at the Mleczko wedding and I assume it contains all brothers in attendance.

And with that I am off for vacation. When I return I have some plans for the site, so expect a new look in July. Any input on what you would like to see is welcomed and invited! If you would like to contribute in any way just drop me an e-mail or leave a comment on the site.

Band Camp Help

If any alumni are interested in helping out with band camp this August, please contact Lambda Delta President Angela Shultz. The chapter will be assisting once again with moving rookies in to their new dorms as well as throughout the entire band camp.

Rookies move in August 19 and band camp runs until August 28. All questions should be sent to Angela.

Fundraising Update: 42% There!

Just a note about some updates on our efforts to help send two brothers from the Lambda Delta chapter to the 20098 National Convention.

As you may know we have a target of raising $600 to send two brothers to convention and have been accepting donations for a little over a week. You can track our progress in the box on the top right of the page, as well as send your donations via PayPal through there.

You may notice that the widget shows that our goal is to reach $480. This change was made to account for donations received through the mail. To date we have received $140 through donations PLUS the $110 we have received through the website! As more donations come through the mail I'll adjust the widget accordingly. At this time there is no way to adjust the widget to account for donations received through the mail.

On-line donations: $110
Other donations: $140

Total donations: $250
Goal: $600

Remember, we are accepting donations until the end of May, so get your donations in! Spread the word too.

Fundraising Update

In just about 24 hours with our fund raising widget off on the right side of the screen we have raised $105, which accounts for about 17% of our goal of $600. Remember, this money is being raised to send two brothers from the Lambda Delta chapter to National Convention.

Thanks to those who have donated so far. If you would like to donate any amount, even if it is just $1, click on the box on the right and submit the information. Donations can be made through PayPal or by credit/debit card.

The deadline to donate is June 1 so keep the donations pouring in! Don't forget that you can also donate by sending a payment through postal mail. Leave a comment for more information for a snail mail donation.

Fundraising for Nationals

With National Convention being held out in Arizona this summer the Alumni of the Lambda Delta chapter want to help send a delegate from Shippensburg University to Phoenix. Here is how you can help!

On the right side of the page you will notice a widget above the subscription box. This little box will allow you to send donations via PayPal to an account that is linked with the fledgling Lambda Delta Alumni funds. You can send as much as you want using the box and know that every donation will be used to help a brother experience the joy of National Convention.

If we are able to raise more funds than needed the excess funds will be saved for future projects through the alumni.

Currently the Lambda Delta chapter is planning on sending two brothers to National Convention. With your donations that trip will be easier to set up.
