Thursday, November 12 at 8:00 p.m. on "Speakers' Forum"
At the invitation of his old friend Bill Clinton, Pulitzer Prize–winning historian Taylor Branch made 79 White House visits between 1993 and 2001 to record the president's private insights on his two terms in office.
The Floating World: What Flotsam Teaches Us About the Ocean

Thursday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. on "Weekday"
The seventh tennis shoe clad foot washed onto the B.C. shore recently. Where are the feet coming from? Scientists learn a lot about the ocean from the flotsam drifting on the currents. What are the latest discoveries? Trash also congregates in five ocean garbage patches. What can be done? What have you found?

Monday, November 9 on KUOW
This morning we take a moment to remember a Northwest soldier who was recently killed in Afghanistan. October marked the deadliest month for American soldiers in Afghanistan since the war started. The casualties include 10 soldiers based at Fort Lewis who were killed by roadside bombs. Tomorrow, the military holds memorial services for several of these soldiers. Among them...

Saturday, November 7 at 12:00 p.m. on "KUOW Presents"
Every single thing you do each day is controlled by your brain. Few of us of ever think about that, but a brain injury can turn the simplest activity into a profound experience. Maria Ross and her husband moved to Seattle from San Francisco early in late 2007. A few months later, she collapsed and almost died from a hemorrhaged aneurysm. In recovery, she learned more about...

Friday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. on "KUOW Presents"
Pacific Northwest Ballet's Director's Choice program features a mix of traditional and daring dance. It gives good idea of how the Northwest's balances artistic vision and the budget. Later, Booker T. and the MG's created the sound of Stax records and much of the 1970s. He shares his story. Then, keeping hand crafted movie effects alive in horror films.

A Handbook for American Muslim Teens and a Technology to End Global Warming

Friday, November 6 at 12:00 p.m. on "The Conversation"
Former Microsoft technology chief Nathan Myhrvold says we could reverse global climate change by pumping liquid sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere. We could use a hose lifted more than 15 miles into the atmosphere using helium–filled balloons. It would dim the sun just enough to reduce or reverse global warming.

Thursday, November 5 at 8:00 p.m. on "Speakers' Forum"
Journalism is a vastly different world these days. Print papers are closing. Blogs are dominating. But David Domke isn't crying. He says the public is actually now more engaged in news than ever before! He says current political debates are more dynamic and robust than ever. Journalism? The revolution is here.

Thursday, November 5 at 2:00 p.m. on "KUOW Presents"
Many of the dancers who work in the Puget Sound area are trained in an art form with roots in the 19th century. But audiences live in the 21st century. To keep dance alive and interesting, many companies in the region are expanding the boundaries of classical and other dance forms. But that can be risky. Seattle dance critic Alice Kaderlan is seeing many local dance companies...
