Oh wait he was in the late Heath Ledger film ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ and he’s set to be in Fincher’s facebook film, ‘The Social Network’. So Andrew Garfield is not new to the scene but Sony Pictures decide for a relatively new and upcoming actor to play the part of Peter Parker/Spider-Man after the film needed a reboot. With both Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire departing due to conflicts with storyline and scheduling this series will go back to Spidey’s roots and focus on the ‘high school years’ of the young webslinger.

When news first broke of a Spider-Man reboot I wasn’t impressed. I still don’t feel there’s a need to rush or produce anymore films for the time being. When this Spider-Man film is eventually released in 2012 the original franchise will be only 10 years old and still relatively fresh in everyone’s mind as Spider-Man 3 (granted wasn’t very good) was out three years ago.

I’m supposing Sony and Marvel are capitalising on the current successes of comic-book film adaptations and producing more Spidey films will ensure the franchise continues in a time where its bound to make money rather than if it were a gamble to make. Back to the casting though and I do have hopes for Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.

Director Marc Webb had this to say of the Brit actor:

“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker.”

A relatively unknown choice for a role like this is a good pick in my opinion as there’s no ‘star’ quality distraction attached to the actor. For example Leonardo DeCaprio or Zac Effron would never be right for this role.

Apparently the film starts shooting in December and is due for a release (in 3D) on July 3rd, 2012.

Now we finally get a full trailer of this weird yet wonderfully intriguing animated feature. I’m loving the style and look of the animation in this film. The only information released about the story so far is that Rango is a chameleon with an identity crisis, who embarks on a journey of self-discovery taking place in the western town of Dirt. The deliberate choice to make us wonder what this story is about draws me in even further and the delightful characters that we’re introduced to create a very interesting ‘un-Disneyesque’ feel. There’s a pretty big ensemble cast attached including the likes of Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy and Ray Winstone.

Oh and at the 1:47 mark I do believe there’s a nod to ‘Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas’, very cool touch.

I absolutely loved the first Portal game, bringing the gamer some of the finest first-person puzzle gaming with the best sense of humor I’ve seen in years. These trailers show that the humor hasn’t died and that there’s always new inventive ways to travel through those blue and yellow portals.

The only downside to all this seems to be that it’s being released in early 2011.

The first trailer of the eagerly awaited ‘finale’ to the boy wizard series is released and it’s looking pretty special. As a non-reader of the books (yes I know I’ve committed some sort of crime) I’m looking forward to finally having some answers and seeing some real action. I just hope that breaking this last book into two films was a good idea and not just a way to get our damn money.

Oh yeah and it’s in 3D. Shocker.

Unfortunately this trailer does little to change my opinion but it is only just a teaser so I’m not going to slam the idea of this. I’m just not sold yet.

Never really seen any of Patton Oswalt’s comedy before but out of the one’s I viewed he’s got some pretty decent material. I suppose his exposure is mainly in the United States as I’ve only ever seen him in ‘King of Queens’ or the voice work he did for ‘Ratatouille’.

I won’t bore you with the details, needless to say I’ll be away from my computer for some time but I’ll be back and hopefully look to improve a few things on this site.
