I've just read the guest book at Villa L'Arco and as well as being delighted about all the positive comments , one thing that stood out was the Tamoil Petrol Station!!! Serving pizza's for 4-8 euros and also Sardinian specialities such as Zuppa di Cozze al pomodoro and Tagliata (beef served on a bed or rocket, cherry tomatoes and parmisan cheese)are some of the best and the cheapest we have found! Exclusive to Just Sardinia, Villa L'Arco is a charming private villa set in large gardens with its own swimming pool, located in the heart of the Galluran countryside in the north of Sardinia. Situated 3km from the small village of Bassacutena it is in the middle of nowhere yet equidistant between Santa Teresa and Palau for beaches, Arzachena for shops, banks and weekly market, and Tempio up in the mountains. The village itself has a few small shops for everyday supplies, a couple of café bars, Agriturismo (farm) restaurants nearby and the Tamoil petrol station! Huw (from Huw's view!)and his family were lucky enough to be in Sardinia the last week of October at Villa L'Arco. The weather was fabulous, the beaches deserted yet the sea warm enough for swimming and windsurfing - just what we tell our our customers that October is such a great time to visit the island! During the week we visited Valle della Luna (Valley of the Moon) on the headland at Capo Testa and enjoyed a really interesting walk through the amazing rock formations there and the boys jumped off the rocks into the clear blue sea at the bottom - well worth the walk! EasyJet have just added a Monday flight to their London Gatwick to Olbia Sardinia schedule starting from 18th July to run until the 5th September.

EasyJet fly to Sardinia from the 26th April until 30th September already Tuesday to Sunday and now, due to high demand, have decided to fly everyday.

The Rally d’Italia Sardegna, the Italian round of the World Rally Championship, organised by the Automobile Club d’Italia, starts today after long months of preparations. The first official event will be the shakedown, the final test for cars in race trim, to be held at 8am. The test will take place over a distance of 2.5km in the Monte Pino venue near Olbia. The shakedown will be the competitors' first taste of the Sardinia gravel roads. The first to test their race cars will be the very best drivers of the World Rally Championship.

In the evening the official start ceremony will be held on the Olbia start podium, located opposite the Archaeological Museum on the waterfront. This is the start of the three days of competitions, which will see the drivers tackle a total distance of 1,183km.
