The Zoya Intimate's collection is a beautiful set of soft colors perfect for spring and transitioning into summertime. It may be May but I've still got Caitlin on my fingers right now!

I'd have to say that my favorites are Caitlin, Marley, & Dove. All the colors are super pigmented though and a joy to wear! As always one of my favorite things about Zoya polishes is that they rarely chip. I've had this polish on all week!

I really love the packaging this came in. It's nothing fancy, but it's a clear rectangular plastic box with little trays that the nail polishes fit in. I think it's an adorably cute way to keep a collection together. The polishes work with every skintone. My mother is quite a few shades darker than me and Jules and Gemma look STUNNING on her. Bantu Knots: A Hair How-To Tutorial

Hi, dolls! I'm back with the second installment of my Pink Friday look. I've gotten a lot of compliments on my hair when I do this style and many questions as to how I do it. They're called Bantu Knots and they're pretty simple to do. It works on every hair type and all ethnicities too! (Yes, Amanda. White girls can do it too!) I love Bantu Knots, they're a great no-heat way to get a big head of curls. And we all know I love big hair. I usually do mine after washing my hair for a tighter curl, but it works just as well on dry hair too. All you need are Bobby Pins and maybe a light leave-in conditioner.

Here we go!

Step 1: Grab a portion of your hair, it doesn't have to be neat or parted. I usually grab a section about as wide as 3 fingers. The smaller the section, tighter the curl. I sprayed a little bit of TIGI Bed Head Spoil Me Defrizzer, Smoother & Instant Restyler for a little bit of product, you'll see the particles on my hair in a bit.

Once you've got your section of hair, start twisting it. Just a simple twist a 3/4ths of the way down.

Step 2: Coil the hair around itself at the root of the twist. It may be a little hard to get at first, but you'll get the hang of it. Just continue to wrap the twist around into a little knot.

Step 3: Twist the rest of the section down and wrap it around the knot. It should be tight enough to tuck into the bottom of the knot, but I like to secure it with a Bobby Pin. Just stick it right through the middle of the knot. I usually do 8 to 9 knots all over my head, 4 or 5 if I want more waves than curls.

Now you wait. I usually wash my hair at night, knot it and half way through the next day it should be dry. If you want to speed up the process sit under the hair dryer or use a blow dryer. It is still loads better for your hair than a curling iron.

If you're doing your Knots on dry hair, I still recommend letting them stay over night and spraying them with a little leave-in conditioner to really help the Knot set.

The Next Day

It is time to uncoil your knots! Take out your Bobby Pins and unravel your Knot. It should fall out of the coil into a bouncy spiral curl. Your knots should look like the ones below.

Now you can use a paddle brush to wave these curls out, but I want to keep my big curls intact. I just finger comb them and fluff them up and voila! Sexy big hair!

I slapped some makeup on my face and added a little Paul Mitchell Foaming Pomade on my hair for control and shine and here is my finished look.

I really like the texture of Studio Sculpt, but sometimes their colors are just off for me. Since this was Erica's own foundation, we used this as a base, then color corrected a little with the setting powder. But it's warm color was a great base for her nude lip color. I mixed a little lip balm with the Studio Sculpt for color and bam. Instead sexy nude lip.

As much as I dislike Nicki Minaj, I was excited to hear about her collaboration with M.A.C. We all know I love M.A.C and their colors are not to be trifled with. While her music is not my favorite, more often than not, Nicki looks cute. Her makeup is nicely done and she isn't afraid to take risks with color. Especially pink. So when I heard that the collab was going to be a customized Barbie pink, I was very excited.

Pink Friday is a bright creamy pink lipstick. It is a Satin and is extremely limited edition. It is only being sold online on 4 Fridays this year. That is it, just 4! The Good:

I LOVE THIS PINK. Being of light skin, many people automatically assume that I can wear any shade. I wish! This simply isn't true. I cannot tell you just how MANY times I have been pissed cause a certain shade just doesn't go with my coloring. Especially pinks. Every girl wants that bubblegum pink pout perfect right out of the tube. Plus I have very lush lips, so just any ol' pink shade is like a beaming beacon of "LOOK AT ME".

To me, Pink Friday is like the Saint Germain you can actually wear daily. I loved Saint Germain to pieces, but it is actually kinda neon, dontcha think? Pink Friday has a bit more pigment and is totally wearable. Especially so with lip liner. All swatches on my lips are without liner to show you that you can wear it even on the go.

I like to wear it one of two ways. First, you can dab it on, just pat it softly around your mouth and you have the perfect "Why yes, my lips actually are naturally this pink and pretty" pout.

And of course you can always swipe it on. Even when I swipe I like to use short strokes. Sometimes it seems swiping in on actually wipes it off instead of applying it.

The Bad:

If being sold only on 4 Friday's EVER doesn't classify you as limited edition, then I don't know what does. That being said, I wish that we would have had some nice limited edition packaging. I tried damn hard on that website twice. I missed the first Friday and the 2nd time, they were all sold out before I could check out! Snatched them right out of my cart! The least they could do is give me a Barbie Pink Tube.

Overall:

You don't have a pink like this. There are lots of similarities, but a small difference can mean the world on how a lipstick looks on. A lot of people compare it to Pink Nouveau, Nicki's former favorite. I find the two to be very different, Pink Nouveau is a much deeper, hot pink.Where as this is more bubblegum Barbie pink. I don't think Nicki would go through the trouble of making her own custom lipstick if she'd just make it a dupe of her former fave.

Smokey Eyes & Nude Lips for Every Shade | Fair

The next tutorial in our Smokey Eyes and Nude Lips for all shades series is for the fair skinned ladies out there. Janna here was kind enough to be our model for this look. Janna is blonde and fair skinned so black can be harsh on her if not done right. That gives us the perfect opportunity to demonstrate that you can do a smokey eye without using black shadow and overpowering the eye. Here we go!

Start with a clean face, moisturize and apply foundation.

Next, I applied MAC paint pot in Bare Study to her lid from the lash line up towards her brow bone. I then patted on Illamasqua Powder Shadow in Feline all over the lid.
Using a fluffy crease brush, apply MAC shadow in Contrast, a deep blue, in the outer v of the eye and blend outward.
I like to darken up the "V" just a bit. Then fill in those brows. For blondes, I like to use the darker color in the Anastasia Brow Powder Duo in Ash Blonde.
Here you can see I also lined the top of the lid with a gold liquid liner. I used MAC's
Using Stila Kajal Liner in Onyx, line the waterline and using a pencil brush, smudge along the lashline and up into the outer v.
Gorgeous Eyes!
Now for lips and cheeks! Applying only to the apples of her cheeks and blending outward, I used MAC Sweetness blush lightly.

MAC's Blankety is my go-to lipstick when I want to create a nude, no matter the shade. It blends great with other colors so I find myself using it for every skintone! With Janna I applied a balm to her lips then layered on Blankety. It's an amplified creme so it has a bit of shine to it as well.
And there you have it! The finished look!

Not quite what you were expecting after that title, huh? I'm a little late to the game on getting this palette. I decided on Monday that I just had to have it. Little did I know that this palette has been highly sought after for quite some time. It is sold out everywhere. Sephora.com. Ulta.com Even Urban Decay.com. I called my nearby Sephora and was disappointed to hear that they too, didn't have any left. Resigned, I asked if I could be put on the waiting list. She went to the back to get it and came back saying there was ONE left that someone put on hold, but never came to get. I was like what! I locked that baby down over the phone and speed off to go get it. And voila, my very own Naked palette. I was so lucky to be able to get one the day I decided I wanted it. I hate waiting and I'd have been waiting forever!

I haven't used it yet, but it sure is beautiful. It comes with 12 full-sized shadows, a travel size of Primer Potion and a doubled ended eyeliner pencil. Uploading these pics to blogger has taken away some of the color impact, but when I swatch and review them, I'll upload them another way so you can see just how brilliant these shades are. Smokey Eyes & Nude Lips for Every Shade | Dark Chocolate

Hello babes!

Last week I mentioned I'd be doing a new series for you all. Fall is here and so is it's sexy staple the Smokey Eye. And few things go better with a Smokey Eye than a Nude Lip. But so many people of all different shades tell me that they're dying to find the perfect nude lip, but can't just quite get it. The purpose of this little series is to let everyone see, that despite their skin tone, they can not only wear but rock a sexy nude lip with confidence. The key is finding the perfect shade for you.

So many women of color tell me that they just can't wear a nude lip. Their biggest complaint is that they end up looking too pasty on their lips. That for two reasons. 1, Most of those lipsticks aren't pigmented enough for darker skin. They just don't have the color impact you're looking for and it gives a whitish cast. 2, and most important, NUDE for everyone is not BEIGY PINK. We're all under that misconception, but nude is different for everyone.

I kid you not! 9 times out of 10, when I'm working with clients, and especially on photo shoots, the perfect nude lip is achieved by using their foundation as a base then customizing it with layer or gloss or lipstick. It works like a charm. Of course, a handy lipstick or gloss is great to have on the run for touchups, but getting that perfect custom nude lip is as easy as experimenting with your foundation.

My friend Tori graciously agreed to be my model. Let's get started!
First start with a clean face.

When I'm doing smokey eyes or using any loose dark eyeshadow, I prefer to start with the eyes. So next I applied MAC greasepaint stick in Black as a base along the lower lid up to the crease.
Apply to the lower lashline as well and blend out.
Next I applied Bare Mineral's Eyeshadow in Black Leather (item not shown), a mostly matte extremely black loose powder. I patted it along the lower lid and crease and softened the edges.
Time for brows!Using the Anastasia Brow Pencil in Brunette, I filled in Tori's eyebrows.I then applied MAC Brun Eyeshadow (item not shown) below the brow and downwards into the crease, blending it with our black.
Time for face. Tori doesn't usually wear heavy makeup, just a tinted moisturizer so I used her own Smashbox Tinted Moisturizer in Dark mixed with a bit of my own Cinema Secrets brand Foundation.

After applying, I set her face with her Fashion Fair Oil Control Loose Powder in Pure Brown.
Now! Time for that perfect nude lip. I mixed lip balm with a bit of her tinted moisturizer to the perfect consistency then applied it to her lips.
Looks great, but I want a hint more peachiness! I applied a touch of Blankety lipstick to her lips.
And a dash of Mac blush in Sweetness and you're done!Enjoy! I hope this quick tutorial was helpful. If it wasn't, don't worry. This series is just beginning, I'm sure you'll find a skin tone similar to your own in the upcoming posts. You're on your way to the perfect nude lip!

Danielle over at The Fashion Bomb totally aced this article. I couldn't have said it better myself. I know I have a lot of readers interested in finding their perfect nude shade and she breaks it down to a T!

A nude lip color is the perfect companion for heavy eye makeup or just a simple all-around “I’m naturally this good looking” understated look. But “nude” is totally dependent on an individual’s skin tone and not everyone can wear a light creme beige as their nude. I’ve put together a quick guide to help you find your nude. Check it out.

Nude lip color tips:
1. Be sure your lips are properly exfoliated (rub a wet toothbrush over your lips) and moisturized (Chapstick will do, but for super-dry lips try Clinique All About Lips or Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Skin Protectant).
2. Add color somewhere on your face to avoid looking washed out. A natural makeup look with tones that mirror your skin tone is pretty, but add a bright blush or eye color to liven things up.

Bobbi Brown (abbreviated below as BB) is a great line to start with when looking for your perfect nude. Many of Bobbi’s looks are based on “natural” pretty makeup so many nudes across the color spectrum are included in the line.

Crystal's Wedding

This past Sunday, I was commissioned to the bridal makeup for Crystal S. She's a sweet first time bride here in Georgia and she was a joy to work with. Here are a couple of shots I snapped myself. When the professional ones come back, I'll be sure to share those!

Crystal was really looking for subtle, subdued colors but still wanted definition. I used a soft shimmer in the inner corners of her eyes and along her cheekbones and kept the rest matte.

I also worked on a few members of her bridal party!

Hey everyone! I've got a quick tutorial for you all today. This is a request by my cousin Allysha. She lives in New York and she has prom coming up and asked me to do a tutorial for her. There are tons of prom and formal looks out there but it's hard to find one tailored to her complexion. I have my little cousin Dayana here as my test model! She was very excited. We're going for a nice bronzey eye.

I hung out with my friend Sharnae the other day and we went to Perimeter Mall. I had a couple errands to run and I desperately needed a refill on Fix+ spray.
