This post actually gets a fair number of hits from people looking for a comparison between the two, so I don't think it's unreasonable. And I do make the point that Stellarium is designed to view the stars from Earth, whereas Celestia is a desktop "universe".

Why choose between pieces of Software?? Why not just have BOTH. Stellarium is for observing the sky from earth, Celestia is for travelling around the universe. Think you'll find those two concepts are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, and therefore making them a choice between the two completely preposterous!

An interesting variable:

"position of hand (1=back towards own body; 5=other person’s bodily zone) 3"

Anything other than 2.5 would indicate the handshake can never be optimal for both participants? :)

I am wondering if even the attributed developer of this formula actually takes the thing seriously. It strikes me as being more a vehicle for presenting and discussing some of the factors relevant to a good handshake. In that sense, it is OK. But, when I see such "mathematics", I never take it seriously - and I am a mathematician. (To take it seriously, I would need to see the derivation plus some relevant applications of the formula that provide insight that would not be achievable in its absence.)

Brian Wansink - he's a bit of a genius actually. His dreadfully-titled book Mindless Eating is clever, well-written and quite funny in places. I am greatly enjoying it. Of course if I do not get thinner after reading it I may have to sue him ... but hey.

Climate change - an issue in which the poor are going to lose out no matter what happens. They're the least able to cope with price hikes and new taxes associated with mitigation, but they're also the worst positioned to deal with the impacts of an actual changing climate. Sucks!

It's remarkable how the wisdom of crowds has actually worked so well with wikipedia - I've rarely encountered blatant errors, and when I have, they've been trivial or obvious (such as personal attacks on the pages of public figures).

It's just a bit frustrating when one hits the limits of wiki-knowledge... I guess the sediment chemistry community haven't taken to wiki editing as much as I'd like!

"Monster-fly with 5 eyes".....Have you ever counted a "regular" fly eyes? Almost all incekts, thise inclodes, as far as i know ; dragonFlyes, ants, bies, vasps, and any other flyes, have 5 eyes, if you include the two bunch of compond-eyes as one seperate eye. It have not added any eyes, it have yused what it already head, and what all other incekts have.
But none the less, this is an extremly intressing creature, fasinating. The eyes is proberly only good for telling ligth from dark, thow. I think that is how thise types of eyes work in other incekts. But none the less it would be a inportant advantige.
