Trey was the last Senior I scheduled for the 2012 class. It's always bittersweet for me, when my Senior season winds down. So I used this opportunity with Trey to start to fine tune some ideas I have in my crazy head.

Cora & Newborn sessions with Stephanie Schweller

There are many things that I feel confident about. I am confident that chocolate is a drug, that I cannot help but dance when I hear good music, and that Johnny Depp is in charge of the sexiest part of heaven on Earth. There is one more thing I am sure of; Stephanie Schweller is an awesome person to have around if you need to shoot a newborn session.

I always count on Stephanie when I need to do a newborn session. For two very good reasons. One: She IS THEEE best. And TWO: It is never safe to do a newborn session alone. Ever. NO MATTER WHAT. I don't care how camera-toting ninja you think you are, you should never ever leave a newborn baby without a set of hands on or near. And if you don't think so, imagine having to tell a parent you injured their brand new baby while trying to pose them. I bet you will have an assistant, or if you are a parent, you will ask if there will be a second set of hands available.

Meet Cora. She is the cutest, squishiest, and most sleepy baby I have ever had contact with. She only opened her eyes for a few moments during her session,and gave us BIG SMILES when they were open! How perfect is that?

Then she totally entranced us with her model face, watch this:

The best part about having two photographers present is how versatile the session becomes. I love looking at Steph's perspective when I edited. She rocks this, all the time, everyday. I think we make an excellent team!

I was really excited for Ericka's session because of all of the rich fall colors that had presented itself. The foilage,in combonation with Erika's beauty personality and style, really made for a spectactular shoot.

I was so happy to hear from Matthew's parents about having his Senior pictures done. Then, I realized that I was old because Matthew was not supposed to be old enough to be a Senior in High School! Are you kidding me right now?!

I love this picture :) And to add, the windows were busted out when we got here. No windows were busted during this shoot!

This is the 3rd time I have shot Emily. She cracks me up everytime :) This time we had a fun time in the woods near her home.

FAVORITE PICTURE FROM THE WHOLE SESSION! I knew it would be, I think I even called it at the shoot :)

Now a days, I am not so much of a tomboyish girl, but I will always love to ride four wheelers though I am a great big weenie (ask my friend, Amy!), so when Emily said we were getting out the four wheeler, I was SO SO SO EXCITED!

Miranda's session was one of cold windy weather in October. Sometimes that can make for a struggle, but she was a real trooper and pulled through. And we got some awesome shots, especially my favorite where the wind showcased Miranda's beautiful hair :)

Love the way the sun made this entire shot!

Miranda is a very musical person. It meant alot to her to get some shots in the Niswonger building in front of her school. I love this shot :)

And she also plays the drums in the marching band, which is VERY cool to me :)

It was a beautiful day for Katie's senior pictures. It couldn't have been a clearer sky. That same sky made for some beautiful smooth images with a classic beauty like Katie.

First we started at her home, and I got to meet this little pooch..

Then we began to venture and we got these shots at a local barn. They turned out so beautiful! So easy, because Katie is GORGEOUS :)

These last images are my absolute favorites. As I edited, I couldn't help but be floored at how amazing they turned out :) Makes for a happy Jamie!

{Laney} | Senior

It's been a pretty common theme this year, friends of friends of fellow clients coming along on our sessions. I must say, it's a trend I LOVE, because it helps to calm the nervousness when their own senior session comes to be.

Laney was along on a couple of her friends' sessions, and it only set the ball rolling on her own excitement of her senior session. I could not wait! It wasn't the only thing I couldn't wait for, as I couldn't wait to see a certain picture I took on her family's past residence that day. One of my very favorites of the year..

We started in Convoy on this rainy day, something that I had impulsively done because I hadn't really ever shot there alot before. The grainery beckond my artistry, and I couldn't have been more inspired with Laney's sense of style.

We had to dodge a few (okay, more than a few) raindrops, and we ended up having great discussion in the car in the in-between time. But after the drops, this is what we caught...

We then travelled to a home outside of Convoy that Laney's family used to live. It was like we travelled back to her childhood. We even found a place in the barn, scribed in chalk, "Laney was here". It was an amazing energy there, like she was experiencing something like her session that allowed her to be in a passage from childhood, but yet she was enjoying the nostalgia of being back into it at the same time. Smiles were plenty. :)

She showed me her old hangout...

And then she showed me the hayloft. I was in a state of bliss. I think I shot this frame 80,000 times, just because I was IN LOVE with the ambience and the light, the shimmer from the golden straw, the unorganized chaos of the egg crates. THIS SHOT is a shot I will never be able to shoot again. It's cemented in my mind as something I could never recreate for anyone, because THIS. Is. Laney's Shot. In my mind it would be like trying to recreate the Mona Lisa. Everytime it would be recreated, it would begin to lose it's brilliance. I cannot convey much more the energy I felt in this shot.

After the high of that shot, I wanted to try something I have wanted for a long time. Laney hit it right on. I always have seen Senior sessions as a "right of passage" of sorts. With the fairy dust of childhood losing it's luster a little more everyday, and adulthood around the corner of a Senior, I have always seen a picture in my mind involving a suitcase and a highway. I don't think I need to explain anymore after you see this picture...

On more than one occasion, I have been blessed to know my clients when they were younger. In Abbie's instance, however, it made me *gulp* to know she was a Senior because I knew Abbie when she was a wild-haired little beauty 12 years ago. She was a curious girl who I always saw when I would occasionally visit her older brother, Adam. It's hard to believe that little girl that would hang on her older brothers every last word, is now as old as I was when I first met her. THAT is very hard for me to admit, because I still feel 17 inside :)

I was overjoyed when Abbie's mom, Michelle, emailed me to set up her senior shoot. Not only was I excited to shoot for Abbie, but also the kind words Michelle had for me and my work. I always felt a kindred spirit when I was in her presence, she is so warm and inviting. Makes the whole experience of Senior images so worthwhile when you have people so awesome to work with.

Abbie's session was absolutely wonderful all around. I love her images, and I even got to pay a visit to my old friend, Adam, his wife and son, and the Dart that I coveted rides in as a teenager :) Many great memories revisited,many laughed over and cringeworthy (on my part), during Abbie's shoot! ;)

Thank you, Abbie! I hope you enjoy your senior year to the fullest and now I am sure that that wild-haired beauty has grown into a goregous, amazing and fun young woman :)

If there were a poster child for what I want in all the boy senior clients I want to shoot, Nick would be it. In fact, the more I think about it.. If I were a boy, I would probably BE Nick.

It is no secret, and it's usually a ridiculed one from the crazy women I hang out with, that I have a little piece of my heart for guys with long hair. I also have a love of the unwashed, bearded folk as well, but Nick does not fit into that category. When he showed up with his hair down. I decided I had to keep the professing of my love of his hair to a minimum. I failed. Many, many times, I failed.

This kid also knows good music. He smiled when he looked through my music collection. I smiled because I love his hair. SEE?! I cannot stop. He brought his guitar (Bonus points!) and he wasn't kidding around, he knows his stuff. I think I took 80,000 images of him playing because it was so awesome I didn't want to interrupt the amazingness :)

Rain, Rain, go away come again another day! It's a song alot of seniors sing when it looks downright damp and dreary on the day they are scheduled for senior pics.. Mackenzie was no excpetion! But what's a little rain?! Do you think drops of H20 can stop me? Heck no?! I am a super-freakin-hero! ;)

None the less, Kenzie was a bit nervous about shooting in the rain, but assured her that everything would be fine :) Speaking of fine, look how Kenzie rocked out her rainy day session...

And what would a rainy day session be without having a little fun in the water? We used our last shot, and a fabulous maxi dress to play in the puddles :)

It was HOT and SUNNY on the day of Holly's shoot. I could tell she was beyond nervous, and super excited at the same time. I couldn't WAIT to shoot her session, because she had let me in on a location and a pretty yellow little "prop" we would be using..

AH-FREAKIN'-MAZING.

Holly's dress is a work of art. Seriously. I would frame this dress and hang it in my home. :)

It's rare that I get to photograph boys, but the boys I have had the opportunity to shoot this year all have had one thing in common.. They have great smiles :) Nick is no exception! His quirky smile made it's appearance more than once. Probably due to my own nerdiness and that he had a whole gallery of girls, more specifically, his sisters and mom, to make him giggle. With boys, you do whatever it takes to make them smile, and I am grateful for the giggling gallery to help make my job easy! Look at how cute this fella is!

OHMYGOSH. I love Catelyn's session :) There wasn't a picture I didn't love.. This part of my job is so so hard!! After getting her hair done with the fabulous Rachel Elliot at Total Reflections, we began to have a great time shooting her session.

We were wandering (something I am known to do!) and I mentioned an amazing spot I wanted to shoot at again, and as we got closer, Catelyn says, "THIS IS MY GRANDMA'S HOUSE!" LOL! How awesome is that?! Here is a great image from our visit to Grandma's house..

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! This would be AMAZING printed on a metallic paper, or as a metallic standout! *wink wink* ;)

So beautiful!

Catelyn's prom dress was so fab! I love all the details and the color and fabric is amazing with the sun shimmering off of it! Check this out..

Early morning light. There is something magical about it.. I shopped the idea of early morning sessions as much as possible this summer but only ONE senior did an early morning session with me.. That was Becca. I know she will love the magic light we captured. :)

I was so happy to learn that the beautiful orchard outside of Van Wert is a family orchard to Becca.. So it was extra special for us to shoot there. If you can, visit Adam Apple Orchard. Speaking of, the Apple Festival in Van Wert is going on this coming weekend :)

It's no secret how much I adore horses.. Usually when someone calls to schedule a Senior session that involves horses, they will hear me squeal on the other end :) What is never changing when I shoot a senior/horse session is that the love and energy between the horse and the owner is undeniable. It's like a mother/child bond. There is no other way to describe it. I love watching the interaction between them and especially capturing it...

We also shot Brooke without the horses and that was nothing less than beautiful in itself!

Madison has so many cool images! (Again, I know you have read this here before) I have never been so happy with everything I have shot than I have this summer. Madison's session is no excpetion. Between amazing style, beautiful eyes, gorgeous hair, and fantastic locations, I think we couldn't have made Madison look more beautiful. And she was a total natural. I love it when my Seniors get comfortable and just really rock the shot. Okay, enough of my rambling...

Kayla, Madison's sister, came with us and they wanted this gorgeous shot...

I love the dynamic you can see here of Madison and Kayla as sisters. I can't wait to see this between my girls some day..

It's been a while since I have taken a Senior boys shots! To boot as soon as we met up, it began to rain! LIKE POUR. So we dodged raindrops, and I got the coolest shot that is will show in a second :)
