Capturing moving fibre optic light

I bought green and blue fibre optic lights toy for my kids to have fun. I bought it from Avon. It’s nice to play them at night time especially in the dark. They really like it. While watching them, I remember my camera and thought of taking pictures of the moving light. I asked my kids to move or shake it while I’m taking some pictures. I used my macro lens 50mm. The outcome was very cool. It’s some kind of abstract photographs. I realized that picturing moving light is very cool. OK, I wont make this post long because my eyes are itchy and red. I got hay fever! Sigh….

Tulips Festival

These are just the few of my captures. We went to Tesselaar last Oct. 3, 2009 to witness the said Tulip Festival there. It was wonderful place of colorful tulips and many other flowers. It was our first time there so we took our time. Picturing, picnic and all. It was one hour drive from our place. I felt like we’re in the middle of the jungle but it was crowded. Lovely place, lovely flowers. Scenic Sunday entry after the long absence. More photos on my Flickr.

It’s been a while photoblog

My last post was July 5 and ow it’s August 1. Yeah I concentrate more on my flickr account when it comes to photography. It’s more fun sharing photos and comments there. Just like the photo a day project or Proj365. I’m currently 178/365 and hopefully fulfill it until 365 days. It’s a challenge although what it takes with the picture. Important is the story behind it. I’ve missed a lot with Skywatch Friday, Camera Critter, Scenic Sunday and Today’s Flower.
I’ve got a busy life now and joining so many groups is impossible to get active as well as getting active with all my blogs. Don’t wanna force myself or else it will give me more stress and made me crazy. It’s better to relax and focus on one thing and then give the spare time to the hobbies.
For now, I’ll just share some of my Project 365 photographs. Enjoy looking….

Self Portraiture

I’m currently loving taking picture of myself with different themes or topic to represent a certain situation. It happened since I joined the flickr group Filipina Flickrites. Members are so creative, smart and beautiful. Maybe it’s a package when you start to love the hobby of photography. You’ll try some creative techniques using adobe photoshop or whatever software to edit pics. Putting up texture, extracting pictures, converting Raw to JPEG etc2x. At first it’s hard to figure it out but eventually, the more you try to explore, the more you’ll get better. I am not saying I’m better but I’m learning much.

My first entry at FF group theme is entitled Half-Naked. I didn’t take picture of myself since I have lots of photos before. I just add texture..

On the second week , the theme was to choose TheGashlycrumbTinies characters to portray. I made two entries for the whole week. I chose R is for Rhoda consumed by a fire .

B is for Basil assaulted by bears

Third week theme: With Your Cameras. I made four entries for this since I love taking mirror shots!

On the fourth week theme was Pin-Up Girls. I made three entries. Last submission today.

One of the greatest pleasures and challenges of travel is photography. Photographs are more than souvenirs – they offer you the opportunity to recapture the feeling of a place, if only for a moment.

Research: Read up on your destination before you go. Check your itinerary. What will you be doing and seeing?

Know your gear: If you’ve bought a new camera, get some practice in before you leave so you’re familiar with its functions.

Framing: Fill the frame with your subject. If you have to explain the grey blob is an elephant, the picture has failed.

Composition: There is no one perfect composition, but if in doubts start with the rule of thirds: the main elements of a composition should be places at points one-third of the way from the sides of the frame.

Orientation: Does the subject look best photographed horizontally or vertically?

Perspective: Don’t assume that your eye level or the first place you see your subject from is the best viewpoint. A few steps left or right, going down on one knee or standing significant difference.

No distractions: Look at the space around the behind your subject or ensure nothing overpowers it in color, shape or size.

The eyes have it: Focus on the eyes when photographing people or wildlife. It doesn’t matter if other features are out of focus if the eyes aren’t sharp the image will fail.

Find the horizon: When photographing landscapes keep horizons straight.

Lights, camera, action: The color, quality and direction of light change throughout the day. Note how the light id falling on your subject and select a viewpoint that enhances your subject with those elements of natural light.
