Do you have Filipino friends here in Jersey City? If so, please pass this post to them if they have nothing to do tomorrow: an invitation to watch the play “Sunrise, Sunset: Looking For William”

Sunrise, Sunset: Looking for William
Description: Stage Play
Where: Five Corners Library – 678 Newark Avenue, Jersey City 07306
When: November 07, 2009 2PM

Tomorrow, this play about Filipinos in America – written and directed by Tino Aquino Capili – will be staged at Five Corners Library. It has been staged three times before, and tomorrow might be the last. The play has received an excellent review from an award-winning Filipino writer Dr. Jorshinelle Taleon-Sonza.

This event is also recommended for Non-Filipinos who want to understand Filipino culture and history, or who want to gain insights of who Filipinos truly are.

I hope to see fellow Filipinos tomorrow and Jersey City residents who are interested in this type of event.

Do you have T-Mobile as your phone carrier? Right now, their network is down and a lot of people do not have service. Family friends who own a cellular phone here in Jersey City are calling from house to house due to this inconvenience. I just came from (JFK Airport) New York, and I thought the mobile coverage is just poor.

T-mobile’s website doesn’t say anything, and a google search shows no result as of the moment.

—

[update] At 7:10PM, my cell phone shows full signal bars. T-Mobile is back up. Thank God.

If you are a new Journal Square or 07306 resident, you will not be able to find a KFC fast food within the area, since it was previously located on the square at the ground floor of the demolished hotel in front of the fountain. The closest KFC here is on Communipaw Avenue, Jersey City. Call them at (201)433-1151.

Jersey City firefighters were called to a one-alarm fire that displaced a family from their apartment at 2814 Kennedy Bouelvard, Saturday night.

Fire investigators believe that blaze was caused by a candle that was burning in the bedroom of the third-floor apartment. The fire caused heavy damage to the room, forcing the family to stay with friends, Fire Director Armando Roman said.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 9:13 p.m. and had the fire under control at 9:51 p.m.
