Illustration friday this week is fast… and whats faster then a um, this thing? Well ill tell you what! Nothin! Thats what! I originally started this as a sketch for a different subject (flying) and finished off for this week just so I can post it… Any suggestions in naming it would be appreciated… Otherwise we will call it… flying thing! Yea Or, Elebumblenut! (Ele-bumble-nut)

This weeks illustration Friday subject is frozen…. I thought about it… and we think we get cold in the winter time.. Ever think how the rain drops feel?  Huh? While you are beating them up with shovels, and  salting them.. Just give them a thought.. They didn’t want this anymore then you did… Poor Rain drops!

PS: This isnt done yet, but i figured i would post it anyway… still have a few more hours on it..

Just posting a quick sketch i did today for work.. lady ironing… I did a wash like shading to get my shadows down.. so i figured why not… I haven’t updated my sketch book in awhile… Its good practice to do human forms, and to work on them doing different thing. Even people in unusual situations.. or doing mundane things…

This week’s illustration Friday subject is germs… a much talked about subject these days with all the swine flue media coverage, and with school back in session it could get blown out of proportion. I have done several other swine flu illustrations in the past… Swine Flu Archives

It can be kind of scary when you are standing in line and the person behind you sneezes, or you hear the server behind the counter cough… the first thing that comes to mind is “oh no! germs!” Especially for me.. I am a germaphobe… so my brain explodes when some one coughs near me… Its worse as iv gotten older… and I can see myself living in a bubble down the road… scrubbing the skin off my hands.. but I digress…

I have not updated in awhile.. but I just wanted to throw a post out there and let everyone know I am still alive! I have been busy with some stuff, still creating! I just haven’t had a chance to post anything or participate in any illustration contests…

The theme this week for illustration Friday is modify… and I started sketching… and then I took lunch and then I sketched a little more… and I have no idea where my brain went… Seems I might have drifted off target a little, but I can spin anything..

So here is Modify…. Reality.. Just because I have no idea what this is… I really cant explain what this illustration means or from what part of my brain it came from… but ok… I have been in a really weird place over the last week or so. I guess this is a result of that.

If I start stapling stolen hair on the wall and collecting waste in jars, please just ignore me.

The illustration Fridays subject this week is idle… I figured that a robot was definitely needed in this circumstance. Then again robots are perfect for any occasion, so it was really a no-brainer. This ancient behemoth was left over from the last great robot wars of 2020… A towering reminder that robots can and will kick human butt when given the chance. I have been sketching a bunch of giant robots as of late, so I might post some more soon… Run in fear puny human!

Well I have been playing around in the digital painting realm again.. this time I went sci-fi.. and did an Ellen Ripley from Aliens. It came out pretty good.. and I actually softened Sigourney Weaver’s jaw line a little.. so its not exactly her Ripley, but its pretty close. I have been getting better on likeness lately. So this was more an exercise then anything… I might post this to illustration Friday for shaky.. I bet Ripley was really shaky in the scene.. Wouldn’t you be? Face to face with a horde of bio-mechanical killing machines?

My physical condition has been going down hill over the last few weeks. Lack of fresh water and a dwindling food supply have really put me at a disadvantage against the undead. Or maybe it evened out the playing field, ether way I have been getting sloppy, and rather carless as of late. It was because of this reason that I didn’t see the baker zombie until it was just about on top of me.

The creature was dressed as a chef of some kind, and it still carried a large shiny plate in its hand, like some type of serving tray. I like to imagine it had a birthday cake on it, but it would be absurd that the cake could still be in one piece at this point.

Anyway, it attacked me from behind as I made my way down a long flight of stairs in a small alleyway on the outskirts of town. I am not even sure how I didn’t see it or its shiny plate from the top of the steps. I have no explanation at this point to where it came from, but it was there, and it was inches from my face.

The creature was snapping its jaws viciously at me, but its own plate had created a barrier between us, and I was able to force it back onto the steps. I used my knee to wedge between us and pry myself out of its grasp. The creature suddenly released me causing me to slide down the steps and roll a few flights before coming to rest on a small landing.  My right knee was bent under my body at a weird angle, and when I tried to straighten it; I was awarded with a ghoulish popping sound. I bite down on my fist as I tried to restrain the scream inside me.

I slowly pulled myself to my feet, and turned to look up the steps. The creature had righted itself and began its slow decent towards me. I was neither strong enough, nor interested in continuing this fight.  So I made a hastily retreat down the steps. Or at least I went as fast as a malnourished, dehydrated person with a severely injured knee could go.

Just a quick sketch.. just monkying around……Just a quick sketch.. Just monkeying around…… I need to do more sketching! It has been awhile since I sat down and did some big time, pencil to paper sketching. It really helps to advance and refine your eye hand coordination. Plus it also is really good for developing ideas. Yes I can sketch all day on the computer, but its just different!
