Pastor –> Paramedic

The adventure has begun. Last week I sent out a letter to the church where I have been a pastor for the last nine years. In the letter I shared that my time as youth pastor will be ending on July 31. My family will be moving to Sioux Falls, SD and I will be starting paramedic school in the fall at Avera School of EMS.
It is truly going to be a bitter sweet time in my life as my entire married and parenting life has been in Washington. I am going to miss many people that have become very good friends, but am also excited to see where God is leading me in this new chapter of my journey.

Over the years we have become close friends. There have been good times and bad times. We need to take a break. I will not be hanging out with you for the month of December. I don’t think our relationship is unhealthy, but there are other more important relationships I need to invest in for the next month. I am sure you will still be around when I get back. Bucket List

I believe bucket lists became popular after the movies A Walk to Remember and The Bucket List. It is a list of things you would like to accomplish before you die or “kick” the bucket. This is my current list and things are constantly being added.

U2 concert (accomplished 6.4.2011)
Find a geocache in every state
Visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Eat Turducken
Own a goat
Bench press my own weight
Drive Route 66
Visit Sherwood Forest
Tickle a buffalo

Is anybody out there?

Getting my blog on again. This is mainly a test post to see where I have my blog automatically posted because I don’t remember. Coming later I shall reveal my bucket list.

Mt. Dew Dumplings

My favorite drink is Mt. Dew and I recently discovered this great dessert using said drink. A few people on Facebook have asked for the recipe and I have to thank Sara Kessler for it. They are delicious.

2 (10oz) cans cresent roll dough
2 granny smith apples
1 cup butter
1 and 1/2 cup white sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 can of mountain dew

Heat oven to 350 peel apples and slice apples into 8 pieces. Roll apples into cresents (starting at the small end) and pinch ends to seal the apples. Place into a greased baking dish (glass works best). Melt butter in sauce pan, stir in sugar and cinnamon, pour over dumplings. Then pour mountain dew over dumplings. Bake for 35-40 minutes (or until golden brown). Enjoy!

The Bible in 400 seconds?

Some people set goals to read the Bible in a year. To celebrate the 400th anniversary of the KJV, the YouVersion community is going to read the Bible in 400 seconds. That’s 6 minutes, 40 seconds.

How? We’re each going to read a small section from the Bible out loud, simultaneously. We’ll all start at the same time (noon edt on Monday, May 2, 2011). Think of it like a global Bible-reading flash mob.

I have signed up to read 1 Samuel 15 and super excited as I am going to be at Disney World on Monday.
