Two-Headed Gothic Cat

Ancient are the two headed cats, though they long since have gone extinct (or so we think), they will always be immortalized at Unconscious Ink.

When Pelham Hughes, a long time fan of [ui] suggested the concept of “A Two-Headed Cat Beast,” I figured I would give it a shot. A few minutes into my preliminary sketches though I decided I wanted to try something new as far as style goes. Since I've been heavily working on a strengthening the aesthetic of Anhedonia Blue, I thought why not try to work out a few things I've been interested in trying, and there for I created something with no actually line art just the embedded imagery of what once WAS line art. I'm pretty happy with the out come, though, I'm not really 100% sure if any of what I came up with on this inkling could possibly show up in ABlue…. Oh well… only time will tell.

Smashing Pumpkins

It's time to KILL KILL KILL those who treated the pumpkins bad today! :]

How was everyone's Halloween? Anyone do anything totally naughty enough for my pumpkin here to kill you for? For your sake I hope no one smashed some pumpkins…or cut them up to make faces or even worse TO EAT THERE INNARDS! I pretty much did nothing to be honest. I just watched the movie “The Secret Window” with a few people; for a Johnny Depp movie I'm gonna have to give it an “eh.” I also ::cough:: ate some pumpkin pie ::cough:: which was really good!

News: I FINALLY posted a blog (with pictures) about my adventures at APE and Page 3 of Anhedonia Blue was posted Monday!

My trip to Maine is almost at its end, which means next week will be the start of brand new inklings by me.. but, that doesn't mean that I am not SUPER grateful for these two posts in my time of need! Today's awesome post is courtesy my friend Nixon Agnew of Pictures of Crying Children who I randomly found one day because of the fact that her main character bares a striking resemblance to my character, Eydis from Anhedonia Blue. Anyway, The girl in this guest post is a representation of her and actually has a pretty interesting back story. This is what she told me:

“When I first went to college, I met this kid, Will. He actually wound up being the writer for the first webcomic I did- but that's a story for another time. At that point in my life, I didn't wear pants- I just wore full floor-length skirts that I'd made myself. Every day. Eventually, he convinced himself there was something I was hiding under my skirt. There had to be a reason I wasn't wearing jeans or shorter skirts even in the start of the year when it was hot. So, being the ridiculous human being that he was, he decided I must have had tentacles. At first he kept that joke to himself and didn't say anything. And then one day, I wore a hoodie with some distorted, hardly visible image on it- the only part of which that could be made out were tentacles. Then he told me what he'd been theorizing, and started calling me ‘Squidie.' “

I've never met Ms. Nixon myself, but I'm pretty much convinced that she has tentacles for legs; there's nothing wrong with that. :]

[ps. i spelt tentacles wrong while writing this post, the spell checker then assumed i meant "testicles," ...its a good thing she doesn't have testicles for legs... cos that would just be weird.]

This week I had to pick up and make an unscheduled visit to Maine due to the fact that my Grandfather passed away this past week; he was almost 99 years old and live a long very full life. So, Since I really wasn't prepared for it I wasn't able to plan ahead and get this weeks posts ready ahead of time. This means both Tuesday and Thursday of this week are going to be guest strips! Both of are very enjoyable interesting inklings, so i hope you will enjoy them as much as i did when i received them. I went back and forth one which inkling I wanted to post today versus Thursday but decided since this one is more “fun” I'd post it first and the more eerie post would be on Thursday because it's closer to Halloween!

Anyway, this odd little beast was done by the strange talent who goes by the name Kyattsuai and draws inkling-esque MS Paint style things that I often find quite humorous at BurnTheInternet.Com; if the website alone doesn't sell ya, I don't know what would! So check him out and be sure to come back Thursday for a wicked guest strip from some other strange being as well.

Dark Water Spirit

As I embark into Anhedonia Blue as a full time project I will be having more and more creature designs I'm either going to keep or toss. As a free draw experiment of a water spirit, this is what I came up with. I like him ok but I'll just say it now.. he most likely wont show up in ABlue… Either way, from time to time I'm gonna be putting up some of these “failed” creatures here cos even if they aren't gonna make it into Anhedonia Blue they are still my little creations and friends of Unconscious Ink! :]

GOD, Help Me Please!

Let me start this post with the suggestion I got in the INKu Suggestion box before I tell you what the hell this is about. This was the suggestion: “some sort of monster involving a giraffe/clown/lobster- cute baby form would be cool 2 :0)” …being that I am still extremely tired from the trip to San Fransisco for APE, I miss read this thing at least 3 times. I looked through pictures of giraffes, clowns and lobster and my mind went all over the place as to where I could take this one. Once I started the drawing I went back and realized “babies” was part of the suggestion…not “cute baby form” so i just started drawing little bear faces and a diaper. THEN i reread it and realized I just didn't understand what I was doing anymore and fought the urge to sleep so much that I clearly lost my mind… So I'm going to sleep now…

Don't forget, a new Anhedonia Blue was posted just yesterday. It's a lot of text, but I promise its much more clear than anything i just said in this blurb.
