The results of Enhance Media’s National Online Recruitment Audience Survey (NORAS) have now been published after the organisation collected data from its widest sample group yet.

95,000 candidates using 62 job boards participated in the NORAS survey. The results profile job board users through over 40 categories covering industry sector, job role, region, and salary.

NORAS also reveals unique visitor numbers for each participating job board, however not all have undergone ABC Electronic audits on these totals.

“NORAS is an essential piece of research helping employers and agencies choose the best job boards for their roles – saving them time and money,” said Giles Guest, managing director of Enhance Media.

Enhance Media claims NORAS is the world’s largest piece of online recruitment research, however there were a few well known UK job boards, such as monster.co.uk and jobsite.co.uk, that did not participate in the 2010 survey.

US hourly jobs portal snagajob.com has had a busy few weeks. After unveiling another redesign, the portal has now announced new pricing options for small businesses.

The new self-service job posting packages cost US$169 for a single posting, $155 for two to 10 postings, and $145 for 11 to 20 postings.

snagajob.com promises the packages will help small businesses save money and time by getting jobs posted sooner and allowing them to review applications on the website or by email.

At the end of 2009, snagajob.com launched its “campaign to re-hire America”, aiming to find jobs for 50,000 Americans by February this year. In 2008 the website set and achieved a yearly goal to help hire 400,000 people, but the website has not yet reported on the result of this most recent campaign.

snagajob.com hit 20 million registered users in January, and released its job search application for iPhone and iPod touch in February.

Twitter-based job posting service tweetmyjobs.com has teamed up with NAS Recruitment Communications (NAS) to offer a service that automatically delivers job tweets to followers of an organisation’s recruiters.

The new “RecruiterConnect” service enables companies to identify and segment job postings for each recruiter by job function and/or geography. When a company posts a job via tweetmyjobs.com, that posting is automatically re-tweeted to the appropriate recruiter’s Twitter followers.

“When we recognised that recruiters had a follower base that needed to be tapped, it was only natural that we would collaborate with the market leader in this space to meet that need,” said Caroline Slomski, NAS interactive marketing strategist.

“Recruiters often have strong relationships with very qualified candidates,” adds tweetmyjobs.com founder and president Gary Zukowski. “This tool allows them to reach these individuals in a very efficient and focused manner.”

Existing and new NAS clients will be able to use RecruiterConnect free of charge if they sign up for annual tweetmyjobs.com electronic integration subscription by the end of August. NAS and tweetmyjobs.com say they plan to include Facebook and LinkedIn functionality by the end of this month.

tweetmyjobs.com was in the news earlier this month after the apparent success of their recruiting drive for InterContinental Hotels Group, which created more than 18,000 views from job seekers in January.

UK-based website judgethejob.com has recently been launched with the aim of giving users an anonymous platform to review employers.

The website joins employerinformation.co.uk, which launched for the UK market in October 2009, and follows the release of bigmouth.co.in India earlier this month. At the time of its launch, employerinformation.co.uk attracted criticism due to the anonymous nature of its reviews.

Once a user has posted a review on judgethejob.com, they are given 12 months access to the rest of the website’s material, which it says includes an advice forum, updates on relevant vacancies, and tailored career recommendations.

“We see judgethejob.com having a huge impact on the way people decide upon their next career move,” says judgethejob.com founder Vincenzo Migliore, who points out the timeliness of the website’s launch given the recent release of the Sunday Times’ Best Companies to Work For list.

“The response so far has certainly been very encouraging and within weeks of the launch we’ve already had reviews from around the world. In the coming months we hope to showcase the real best companies to work for, as voted by the people for the people,” Migliore adds.

The Financial Times has relaunched exec-appointments.com, its global website for executive jobs.

As onrec.com reports, the new-look website now offers advanced search options, increase material in the “my account” section, enhanced career services content, and the integration of Financial Times editorial relevant to candidates.

“The exec-appointments.com job board is extremely popular with 50 percent of our jobs turning over on a weekly basis,” says Steve Playford, managing director of Financial Times Recruitment Solutions.

“The site has been updated to reflect changes in the jobs market with relevant news streams and sector pages, and we have worked closely with advertisers to build a platform that will improve targeting, helping promote the best executive jobs possible for candidates around the world.”

The Financial Times will be running a marketing campaign in the UK, US and Middle East across print and online to promote the relaunched website.

After a seasonal dip of seven percent in January, Monster Worldwide’s European Employment Index was up nine percent in February, reaching a seven month high.

According to Monster, all regions monitored in its European Index showed solid monthly rises in online job opportunities. In addition, over the past three months the Index registered a mild one percent increase. Sweden reported the biggest monthly and quarterly increase.

Despite these increases, Monster says the Index is still down 12 percent year-on-year. France and the UK were the only countries to report elevated job demand from an annual perspective.

“The uptick in online recruitment activity at the beginning of the year speaks to the anticipated degree of business improvement over the near term seen by firms across Europe,” said Andrea Bertone, head of Monster Europe. “However, major economic indicators across Europe, such as the German business climate indicator and UK unemployment data from the ONS, remain deflated, which may impact hiring activity through the remainder of the year.”

Monster says consumer-driven sectors such as hospitality and tourism, along with the arts, entertainment sports and leisure sector, reported increased job opportunities. Agriculture, fishing and forestry – a relatively small sector – had the sharpest monthly and annual increase in online job demand.

Hitwise results have reed.co.uk the most visited commercial jobs website in the UK so far this year.

As onrec.com reports, February’s Hitwise figures show reed.co.uk received 4.29 percent of all visits to “Employment and Training” websites in the UK, which is over 66 percent more than monster.co.uk, 17 percent more than totaljobs.com, and 11 percent more than jobsite.co.uk.

The results also show that reed.co.uk reached a total of 3 million unique visitors in both January and February.

Could the strong results be partially due to some controversial advertising? reed.co.uk’s radio ad, which featured a boss berating his employee in German, caused enough of a stir to be banned back in January.

Meanwhile, in Australia, almost no change has been recorded in traffic totals for the top three jobs portals.

February figures from Nielsen NetRatings quoted by recruitmentdirectory.com.au have seek.com.au in the lead with 3.98 million unique visitors.

Monster-powered careerone.com.au remains in second with 1.76 million, while Fairfax Digital’s mycareer.com.au is in third place with 1.43 million.

An eQuest survey, which analysed the job posting activities of over 100 multi-national Fortune 500 customers who posted job openings through the eQuest in 2009, also has seek.com.au well in front.

According to the results, seek.com.au was selected by a three-to-one margin over any other job board in Australia, which distances it from careerone.com.au and mycareer.com.au by over 100,000 postings. seek.com.au was also found to serve back 45 candidates for each job posted.

In Asia, eQuest found JobStreet, JobsDB and 51Job were the top three boards selected by its customers. ChinaHR came in at a distant fourth, which eQuest says is possibly due to its practice of charging additional fees for customers who post jobs through distributors like eQuest.

In India, eQuest says naukri.com was the most popular with its customers, and found it delivered 200 candidates for each job posting.

smartjobboard.com, a subscription-based job board software provider, has now integrated with the Jobg8 recruitment platform.

Jobg8 says it aims to address the fragmentation of the job board market by creating a network of job boards, aggregators and affiliates across which jobs are advertised based on market and industry niche. The new partnership will allow smartjobboard.com’s customers access to the Jobg8 network and range of products.

smartjobboard.com is promoting the fact that Jobg8 offers a pay per qualified application model, which it says is increasingly popular with employers and recruiters.

“This product is embedded into your board, so it looks and feels like your own product, but it allows your customers to actually build their own application filters using Jobg8 technology,” the website explains.

US-based hourly jobs portal snagajob.com has been given another facelift, just five months after its last update.

The portal, which passed the milestone of 20 million registered users last month, has been completely revamped and the creators are now looking for user feedback.

snagajob.com was established in 2000 and lists hourly jobs as well as seasonal, part-time, retail and food industry positions. It is subscription based for employers and claims to be able to reach millions of job seekers.

A recent survey published by the portal found that 56 percent of American workers foresee a rebound in the US job market. According to the survey, one in four working Americans believes things are improving and is optimistic about the job market, while one in three doesn’t yet see an improvement but is optimistic things will improve shortly .

beyond.com, a network of niche job websites, has published survey results showing college students are relying on university career centres to find a job, and prefer to use niche job sites over general job boards and social networking in their job search.

The survey was commissioned by beyond.com and conducted by students of the Wharton Small Business Development Centre. It included participants from a variety of schools across the US and select European and Asian Pacific countries.

According to the results, 98 percent of students visit Facebook on a regular basis, but less than 35 percent of students use it for job search related tactics. 35 percent of students also said they were uncomfortable using social networking sites for personal branding and networking.

“It was surprising to learn that 75 percent of students are waiting to search for jobs until six months before graduation and are relying so heavily on their colleges to introduce them to employers,” says Rich Milgram, beyond.com’s CEO.

“University career centres alone are not enough to compete in today’s competitive job market, which is why job seekers need to be proactive by starting their job search early and considering all opportunities to search for employment, especially those that enable job seekers and employers to create more targeted connections.”
