[part-time] Community Dance Workers at Dancefest

Two experienced and two trainee community dance workers required by Dancefest, the dance agency for Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

As part of ‘12’, a large scale, innovative People Dancing project in Worcestershire, two Dance Squads are being established to deliver participatory work across the county. With a particular focus on health and well being, young people and older people, the postholders will deliver projects in a variety of settings.

The Dance Squad Leaders will need at least three years experience in community dance settings and will be required to provide mentorship to a trainee. The trainee posts are aimed at people wanting to work in community dance settings and who possess the necessary dance background but lack experience.

Each post will be 3 days (Tuesday – Thursday) and commence on 1 July 2010. Please note that from April 2011 – March 2012 employment will be for 40 weeks only.

These posts are funded by Worcestershire Health Improvement Fund from July 2010-September 2011.

‘12’ is a People Dancing project that has received funding from the Legacy Trust UK, Arts Council England West Midlands, Advantage West Midlands, Grants for the Arts, Worcestershire County Council, Malvern Hills, Wyre Forest, Wychavon District Councils, Bromsgrove, Redditch Borough Councils, Worcester City Council.

Salary: Leaders £23,492 pro rata, trainees £14,006 pro rata (rising to £17,000 pro rata on successful completion of training at the end of March 2012). These salaries are inclusive of Employers’ NI.

Web developer

You’ll need to be a good problem solver, with a solid coding background. You should have a pragmatic approach to software development, with an eye for clean, usable, standards-compliant, cross-browser web design.

More specifically you will need to be:

expert in PHP and MYSQL
able to transform any graphic design into valid and clean XHTML and CSS
well versed in WordPress development, including plugin and theme development
able to code javascript to a good standard (at least 2 years experience), with a good familiarity of jQuery
very familiar with and confident working in the Unix shell, and have experience working with command line tools
familiar with the use of source control systems, such as SVN

Experience of working on sites that integrate advertising (using tools such as OpenX) would be an advantage, as would knowledge of SEO and e-commerce tools.

Location

The job will be based at walkit.com’s new Birmingham office in rhubarb, though we will consider the possibility of remote working (in which case you should be able to come to the office at least once a week).

Terms

Full time, although part-time will be considered for more experienced candidates.

We are seeking a dynamic individual to cover maternity leave for 6 months (in the first instance) to deliver the Young People’s Engagement Strategy which is an integral part of The Drum’s business strategy 3 days per week.

Areas of Responsibility would include:
• Management, administration and development of the Young People’s Engagement programme.
• Undertake effective outreach work to recruit and engage young people.
• Fundraise to ensure the development and continuation of the programme.
• Undertake effective liaison with pupils/students and schools/colleges along with funders, sponsors and donors.

You will need to have substantial management and leadership experience in the creative or transferable sector, have a proven track record of working with young people, a successful track record of fundraising including drafting bids/applications and be educated to degree/ NJC level or equivalent.
