Song awarded First Prize in International Competition!

Jeremy and Rebecca were just awarded First Prize in their category for the world's largest International Songwriting Competition! The winning song was one that Jeremy wrote for their children (Tallest Tree), making it all the more special to them.

Jeremy and Rebecca now playing on Pandora

Jeremy and Rebecca's music can now be heard on Pandora, the world's leading internet radio provider. Listeners may visit Pandora's website, or access the service through a web-enabled device, and create a radio station built around "Jeremy and Rebecca". The resulting station's playlist will include a host of songs that are similar to the music of Jeremy and Rebecca, interspersed with songs from the duo.

Pandora uses a complex, and revolutionary, classification system called the "Music Genome Project" to categorize songs based on hundreds of different sonic and stylistic qualities. Then, their proprietary system builds playlists around the listener's preferences by finding other songs and artists that are similar to those the listener has indicated that they enjoy.

Being added to Pandora's collection of music is a time-consuming process. A team of editors listens to initial artist submissions to ensure it meets their stringent quality standards. Then, once an artist is accepted, a team of editors select songs from the submitted album which they feel are radio-worthy. Some artists may only have two or three songs selected for inclusion, while others may have more added, at the sole discretion of Pandora's editors.

A host of positive reviews have been coming through for Jeremy and Rebecca's debut album, What We Leave Behind. The site is targeted to those who license songs in the film and TV industries and allows music supervisors to easily search a growing catalogue of music for their projects.

Auddy Awards received

Jeremy and Rebecca recently received Auddy Awards for several songs from their debut album.

These awards include three "Platinum Auddys", the highest honor given, to "Fool", "How I Love You", and "Tallest Tree". Additionally, "Gold Auddys" were awarded to "Feels Like The Heavens" and "Have You Got The Time", with a "Silver Auddy" going to "Flyer".

Platinum Auddy Awards, for example, are given to songs in which "the underlying patterns of the song are similar to songs that have been hits for a long time". This is determined by a complex computerized music analysis which identifies sonic patterns that are most common amonst "hit" songs. These patterns can be found by "listening" to such characteristics as the complexity or originality of song arrangement; instrumentation used; density, clarity, and balance of a mix, and many other key sonic traits.

This unique identifying technology was invented by "Hit Song Science" and is used to provide market analysis intelligence and success rate predictions to record labels and music publishers, assisting in key decisions such as release order, promotional budgets, and market timing.

Jeremy is quick to point out that while these awards can indicate a certain level of professionalism, sonically, that is on par with major label quality, nothing can replace the feedback received by a good set of human ears.

"I'm not sure what impact this really has on determining what constitutes a 'hit' song, since lyrics, performance, and emotion cannot technically be factored into the analysis. However, it does serve an anectodal purpose. And, if anyone is really interested in what a computer thinks of our songs, we now have proof that they dig 'em," he said.

Tracking complete, album off to mix

Tracking and editing of Jeremy and Rebecca's upcoming debut release is now complete. The final mix will begin in October and will be done by 11-time Grammy award-winning engineer, Rafa Sardina.

Rafa's credits span multiple genres and he has worked on projects for artists such as Sheryl Crow, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone, Luis Miguel, Alejandro Sanz, and Macy Gray, just to name a few. He has also worked with such legendary producers as Babyface and David Foster, while an established producer in his own right, with a particular passion for new artist development.

Jeremy and Rebecca are thrilled to have Rafa on the mix. Be sure to stay tuned for additional progress updates. Next up... mastering!

Latest Nashville sessions include string tracking

Jeremy and Rebecca just returned from Nashville where they spent more time tracking in the world-class Sound Kitchen studios.

On Thursday, May 10, they completed vocal tracking for their current project and also added several additional instrumental parts in overdub sessions.

Friday, May 11 proved to be extremely fun, being the day the string section was recorded. Arranged and conducted by the venerable Carl Marsh, the end result was mind-blowing! Many present for the sessions, including the players, believe these arrangements are among Carl's best work ever.

The players themselves have long and impressive resumes which include working on some of the biggest albums of all time. Jeremy and Rebecca were so honored to have such capable and special individuals making contributions to their project. Many players mentioned how grateful they were to be involved, saying that they loved the songs and the opportunity to play on such unique and high-caliber material. Trust us, though, the pleasure was all ours!

Billboard Song Contest Awards Received

The Billboard World Songwriting Contest recently awarded Jeremy Hendrickson 10 Honorable Mention awards for their 14th annual songwriting competition, including one award for a song co-written by Rebecca Hendrickson.

Each song recognized will be appearing on Jeremy and Rebecca's debut album which is currently in production.

Billboard lauds the achievement noting that "only the highest quality songs make it to the top" and that "this honor demonstrates the talent and dedication it takes to write a 'Hit Song'".

Songs make finals of international competition

Jeremy Hendrickson recently received the honor of having two songs he wrote for the upcoming Jeremy and Rebecca album make it into the finals of the prestigious USA Songwriting Competition described as "The World's Leading International Songwriting Competition". Each year over 30,000 entries are received and of those, only 150 make it to the final round. While having one song make it into the finals is special enough, the odds of having two songs selected are less than a-quarter-of-one-percent.

The competition is judged by a distinguished panel made up of industry executives and professional artists. It is open to both amateur and professional songwriters alike and draws participation from around the globe.

The songs selected for the finals include "Flyer" in the Dance/Electronica category and "Tallest Tree" in the Children's category, both of which will be included on Jeremy and Rebecca's soon-to-be-completed debut album.
