In November, Rogers offered us a "deal" on one of our lines and gave us a reference# where they said all the details were noted. In short, the deal they offered us was supposed to be $57, but they are now charging us $133 per month for 1 (one) phone! That's a big difference. Who would ever agree to pay that for 1 phone!? They have the reference# but they claim there are no notes, and that nothing was documented. The problem is not just the price, but also the structure of our account. We have 3 phones on one account. One of the key elements was that our son will be turning 19 in February, and we specifically asked if at that time, he would be able to take over his line on his own account at the $57 per month, and they said definitely "Yes." They also assured us that this line would not affect the billing or structure of the other 2 lines. Now we are told that the lines will not be able to be separated without being affected, and definitely not at that price. BEWARE: You only have 2 weeks to return the phone, but the bill with the rip off comes in after that!!!! In December when the billing error came to our attention, we called Rogers. The "customer service" person who answered was very rude and would not listen. We asked to speak to a manager, and the "manager" was also very rude and would not listen. We tried 2 difference "customer service" people and 2 different "managers"--none showed any actual customer service, skills, listening skills, or management skills of any kind. They were rude and did nothing to listen or resolve the problem. They said we are now locked in for 3 years to the price whether we like it or not. They didn't care that we were being overcharged according to what we had originally negotiated. They were rude and disrespectful. When we asked to speak to that person's manager, they would not allow us to. They said that we must submit a complaint online. When we went to submit the complaint online, it said we needed an INTERACTION #. The managers never gave us an interaction number, even though we clearly told them that we wanted to escalate the problem. The name of the last manager we spoke with was Julian (a man, not a woman). The Rogers complaint system would not let us submit a complaint without an incident #, and we were instructed to enter into an online chat to get another incident #. That took a long time, and the person indicated that the managers we previously spoke with also recorded our situation wrong and incompletely--what a surprise! https://www.rogers.com/web/content/contactus We were finally able to submit a complaint to the president's office, but now I'm reading everywhere that doesn't work either. We will be submitting a complaint to Next, we will have no choice but to submit a complain to the CCTS, which I recommend that everyone does, who has had this happen to them: https://www.ccts-cprst.ca/en/complaints/complaint-form We just want it at the original price and structure that was offered to us over the phone in November. I've seen many other complaints such as this posted. According to other posts, it looks like it's a big scam that Rogers is running across the country. The Dream

A man lay on his bed at the end of his life waiting to die.
His dream came to pay his last respects
and bid farewell to the man who had never used it.

As it entered the room the man looked down in shame.
"Why did you not realise me ?" the dream asked.
"Because I was afraid," the man said.
"Afraid of what," said the dream.
"I was afraid I would fail."

"But haven't you failed by not attempting to use me?".
"Yes I did, but I always thought there would be tomorrow."
"You Fool!" said the dream" Did it never occur to you
that there was only ever today? the moment that you are in right now?

Do you think that now that death is here
that you can put it off until tomorrow?".
"No". said the man, a tear gently rolling down his cheek.
The dream was softer now, because it knew that there were two types of pain,
the pain of discipline and the pain of regret,
and while discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs pounds.

Then the dream leant forward to gently wipe away the tear and said,
" You need only have taken the first step
and I would have taken one to meet you,
for the only thing that ever separated us
was the belief in your mind that you couldn't have me".

Then they said goodbye and they both died.

I love Assessments!

Assessments are common tools used by trainers, instructors, facilitators, coaches, and consultants for a wide variety of purposes, including:

I am particularly drawn to a strengths based training approach, and of all the tools I use, I am especially passionate about the line of assessments produced by Consulting Resource Group (CRG). I've been a licensed trainer of their products for over 10 years and I recommend them to everyone. Their flagship tool is called the Personal Style Indicator (PSI). If you are looking for an effective set of tools for your training or coaching sessions, I suggest you look into the CRG Train-the-Trainer program--you will not be disappointed!

Perseverance in the face of failure

A video that illustrates perseverance to the extreme and in the face of failure. Derek Redmond, pulls up in the finals of the 400m race, at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games. Redmond ended up tearing his hamstring shortly after the race started. He was on the worlds biggest stage though and was determined to finish the race. A helping hand from his Father is all he needed to finish. He didn't end up with a medal, but he did end up with the largest ovation of those Olympics and a legacy of ultimate perseverance.

Your Child's Strengths: Discover Them, Develop Them, Use Them

I'm currently reading a book from Jenifer Fox called: Your Child's Strengths: Discover Them, Develop Them, Use Them[Photo]. Jenifer Fox, M-Ed is the president of the Purnell School and the leader of the Strengths Movement in Schools.

Jenifer's ground-breaking book talks about how your strengths are the things that energize you. Your strengths are not necessarily the same as your talents. You can be talented at something, but not energized by it. Strengths fill you with passion and set you on fire!

This book is for parents and teachers, and reveals why and how to build strengths in children. It discusses three type of strengths: activity strengths, learning strengths, and relationship strengths. The book is filled with inspirational stories, as well as an interactive workbook that you can use for toddlers through to teens. It can help children at every learning level.

I especially like how the book explores how EVERY child has something in them that they love to do. Every child has strengths that they can build a meaningful life around. Kid's who know their strengths are emotionally healthier.

This book is long over due. As a mother of an 18 year old girl, graduating this month, and a 14 year old boy, combined with my years of psychometric training, I can't think of a better way to raise children. My girl is strong in language, writing and theater, and my boy is highly kinesthetic. Without my training in personality assessments, raising these two very different personality types would have been difficult. Instead I celebrate their differences, and their gifts. I've seen the benefits of strength based training in my own home, and in organizations, so I'm glad there is now a resource like this to offer parents and teachers.

In my opinion, the concepts in this book are not only life changing, but family changing and community changing. That's why I'm so thrilled with Jenifer Fox's book, because parents and teachers around the world will be exposed to these valuable practices. As Jenifer's book exerts, "...our future depends on building strengths in our children!"
