7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,

Warning Against Rejecting Wisdom

The Dream

A man lay on his bed at the end of his life waiting to die.
His dream came to pay his last respects
and bid farewell to the man who had never used it.

As it entered the room the man looked down in shame.
"Why did you not realise me ?" the dream asked.
"Because I was afraid," the man said.
"Afraid of what," said the dream.
"I was afraid I would fail."

"But haven't you failed by not attempting to use me?".
"Yes I did, but I always thought there would be tomorrow."
"You Fool!" said the dream" Did it never occur to you
that there was only ever today? the moment that you are in right now?

Do you think that now that death is here
that you can put it off until tomorrow?".
"No". said the man, a tear gently rolling down his cheek.
The dream was softer now, because it knew that there were two types of pain,
the pain of discipline and the pain of regret,
and while discipline weighs ounces, regret weighs pounds.

Then the dream leant forward to gently wipe away the tear and said,

Amazing Marcus!

I love Assessments!

Assessments are common tools used by trainers, instructors, facilitators, coaches, and consultants for a wide variety of purposes, including:

I am particularly drawn to a strengths based training approach, and of all the tools I use, I am especially passionate about the line of assessments produced by Consulting Resource Group (CRG). Perseverance in the face of failure

A video that illustrates perseverance to the extreme and in the face of failure. Derek Redmond, pulls up in the finals of the 400m race, at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games. Redmond ended up tearing his hamstring shortly after the race started. He was on the worlds biggest stage though and was determined to finish the race. A helping hand from his Father is all he needed to finish. He didn't end up with a medal, but he did end up with the largest ovation of those Olympics and a legacy of ultimate perseverance.

Your Child's Strengths: Discover Them, Develop Them, Use Them

I'm currently reading a book from Jenifer Fox called: Your Child's Strengths: Discover Them, Develop Them, Use Them[Photo]. Jenifer Fox, M-Ed is the president of the Purnell School and the leader of the Strengths Movement in Schools.

Jenifer's ground-breaking book talks about how your strengths are the things that energize you. Your strengths are not necessarily the same as your talents. You can be talented at something, but not energized by it. Strengths fill you with passion and set you on fire!

This book is for parents and teachers, and reveals why and how to build strengths in children. It discusses three type of strengths: activity strengths, learning strengths, and relationship strengths. The book is filled with inspirational stories, as well as an interactive workbook that you can use for toddlers through to teens. It can help children at every learning level.

I especially like how the book explores how EVERY child has something in them that they love to do. Every child has strengths that they can build a meaningful life around. Kid's who know their strengths are emotionally healthier.

This book is long over due. As a mother of an 18 year old girl, graduating this month, and a 14 year old boy, combined with my years of psychometric training, I can't think of a better way to raise children. My girl is strong in language, writing and theater, and my boy is highly kinesthetic. Without my training in personality assessments, raising these two very different personality types would have been difficult. Instead I celebrate their differences, and their gifts. I've seen the benefits of strength based training in my own home, and in organizations, so I'm glad there is now a resource like this to offer parents and teachers.

In my opinion, the concepts in this book are not only life changing, but family changing and community changing. That's why I'm so thrilled with Jenifer Fox's book, because parents and teachers around the world will be exposed to these valuable practices. As Jenifer's book exerts, "...our future depends on building strengths in our children!"

Research pays off and it's easier than you may thinkA small import/export business can easily be started from a home-based office. Beginning slowly at home will help you to keep the start-up costs relatively low. The earning potential for the import/export business can range from a few hundred dollars per week to many thousands of dollars per week. There are a number of insider secrets that you'll need to know in order to successfully begin this enterprise. "Research" can sometimes be an intimidating word. Really, it just means making a lot of phone calls, doing searches online, and making the right contacts. Be sure to research all aspects of your trade venture, including but not limited to:

Market potential. Don't just import items because YOU like them, find out if there is a genuine need for the product.

Legal considerations. You can save money by doing a substantial amount of legal research. Ideally, you should have a knowledgeable international trade lawyer in your corner

Financial viability. You must calculate all the expenses and potential profit of your venture. Many times, doing a cash flow analysis to the best of your ability up front will identify areas of concern and determine if the venture is viable, only then should you proceed with your import export idea.

Staff and production capabilities. Ask yourself: If importing, so you have the sales and management abilities and staff to sell the products in a timely manner to make a profit? If exporting, do you have the staff, facilities, and manufacturing capabilities to meet the demands of large international orders?

Here is the rule I live by...

Increased Research = Decreased Risk

Use your research to find and market products properly. Effective marketing is the only way to let buyers know about your products and services.In your research, you may find that there are actually few barriers to importing common gift merchandise and consumer goods into the United States. You can buy from overseas all kinds of quality made products such as computers, radios, clocks, stereos, shoes, and so forth. Future issues will provide information on restrictions and regulations.Clothing is the exception as there are high duties and low quotas on apparel in most countries, however for this industry this is where your research will really pay off. By making phone calls and researching the industry that interests you most, you will be able to determine if any venture is worthy your continued efforts. You must ask yourself if the profit margins are big enough, and this can only be answered through research. Research is the most important part of any import/export business.
