Mother England, The Big Brother: Unprecedented Expansion of British Spying Will Force Companies To Give Government Information on All Citizens' Phone Calls, Texts, E-mails And Internet Activity In The Last Year

In a move that will give British governmental authorities nearly unlimited opportunity to spy on citizens, a proposed new law would allow 653 public bodies, ranging from the local police to the local fire department, the ability to request all telephone and Internet activity conducted by a citizen in the preceding year.

A Telegraph reports says that under the proposed law, public authorities will have the ability to instantly view the Internet addresses visited, text messages sent, and telephone numbers dialed and received by citizens.

A public authority, reports the Telegraph, will not have to go to a judge to access the information -- they will simply have to get permission from a senior officer of their department. Essentially, this means that a deputy administrator of a small fire or police department in a sparsely-populated area of the United Kingdom can request the personal information and activity of a private citizen.

The new law will be an expansion of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act and, ironically, will be funded by the very individuals that will be spied on -- the citizens of the United Kingdom. Telephone and Internet companies will be forced against their will to retain all information on a citizen for the last year, reports the Telegraph.

The years of Great Mother England are long gone; but we must now worry about our own country. We, as Americans, can never allow government intrusion into all areas of our lives on this level. Our founding theory and documents prohibit it.

The House of Representatives has just passed their $1 trillion health-care bill that will give Americans lacking health-care insurance the chance to enroll in a "public" option, or a plan run by the federal government, and which will penalize those who choose not not to obtain health coverage.

The bill, which will vastly expand the welfare state, was passed minutes after Saturday night's eleventh hour by a vote of 220-215. Only one Republican voted for the socialist bill which will fine those whose choose not to enroll in a health insurance plan. In America, a man has the right to refuse what he does not want; under the left-wing Democrats' America, however, a man will now be charged because he has chosen not to take the government's direct order that he regularly visit a doctor. The House plan will also force working Americans to subsidize the health coverage of those who are unable to afford plans on their own.

The House's version of the bill will now go on to the Senate, where deliberation on the bill (one whose tenets are undoubtedly against our framers' philosophy on the role of government) will take place. If a version of the bill comes out of the Senate, both chambers will the vote on a compromise; the agreed-upon bill with then go to the desk of B.H. Obama, the man tearing our nation's fabric apart piece-by-piece on a daily basis.

The law was approved by the state legislature earlier this year and would have allowed homosexuals to get married in the New England state. In a rebuke to B.H. Obama, who believes in expanding homosexual rights and seeks to end the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, Maine has decided to join every other state in the Union that has had the question of homosexual marriage on the ballot by rejecting the state legislators' desire to push the immorality of a few on all residents.

HIGH SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST ON AMERICAN FOUNDER TO AWARD STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIPS AND BOOKS

New York City, New York (October 28, 2009) – In this economic crisis, every dollar helps to alleviate the rising college tuition costs that local college-bound high schools students will soon face. With that in mind, New York State high school students have an opportunity to participate in an essay contest that will award up to $1000 and a healthy dose of reading material.

The essay topic is on the life and character of Nathanael Greene, the commander and general in the Continental Army during the American Revolution. Every student participating in the contest will receive two free gifts to recognize their hard work: a free book, Rise and Fight Again: The Life of Nathanael Greene, which will be sent before the submission date so that they may refer to it while writing, as well as a free subscription to the Intercollegiate Review, a scholarly educational magazine.

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI), a non-partisan, non-profit educational organization which strives to teach students at all educational levels about America’s founding and its ideas of liberty, is sponsoring the essay contest.

In the essay, students are asked to consider the life and character of Nathanael Greene, an often overlooked American founder who was instrumental in America’s winning the War of Independence. Among his peers, Greene was largely said to be only second to George Washington in his tactical and strategic military genius, and his strong leadership during the war is often argued to have been a deciding factor in its outcome.

New York’s ISI Regional Ambassador Jay Mundy said the essay contest is a unique opportunity for local high school students.

“By participating in this essay contest, every entrant wins, as all receive a great educational book and a free magazine subscription. And for those whose essay is deemed exceptional – they are going to be awarded a nice monetary prize or spectacular set of books,” he said.

“And most important, they are going to learn a great deal by reading the material provided by ISI and by writing their essay,” Mundy added.

Essays are to be between 1,200 and 1,500 words long and will be judged on the basis of scholarship, imagination, and quality of writing.

To the Editor:

In academia, a mentor most often is an individual who guides a student, or protégé, through research. It is a technical term, one that often represents a professional duty: a student will be assigned - or chooses - a mentor based on research interests. In my undergraduate career at St. John's University, I had a mentor: he was not assigned to me, though, nor did he have a contractual obligation to take on the role, but he did.

Dr. Roger Wetherington, Ph.D., the director of the journalism department at St. John's University was my undergraduate mentor; and so unique about the relationship was that he chose to be my academic guide.

When hearing about his untimely passing this summer, I was shocked and saddened, for Dr. Wetherington was a giant: in the journalism department; in academia; and in print journalism.

Dr.Wetherington guided me through my undergraduate years at St. John's: he always pushed me to reach my goals; he was always there to answer a question, or did what he did best: guide. I first met Dr. Wetherington during my freshman year in the journalism department, as I peppered him with questions relating to an internship. Our academic relationship grew from there, and we would often meet to talk - about journalism, the state of the media, about politics, and our conversations would last - literally - hours. Indeed, I fondly remember standing in front of Bent Hall one night into the late evening, finally getting on my way home after hours of speaking. That was Dr. Wetherington: always willing to help, to chat, and to guide.

He gave me recommendations; he made calls; he went the extra mile for me, and he was never asked to - he never really had to - but he did.

I was lucky enough to have had the chance to meet Dr. Wetherington, and to be one of his mentees. The St. John's community and print journalism lost a great man. As I am sure is the case with the countless students he encountered over his many years in academia, his words and caring touch will be vivid in my memory forever. At his memorial service in August, it was wonderful to see and hear from so many of the people he touched, both professionally and personally, in the same room together.

He was a giant, and I am a better man for knowing Dr. Wetherington. And it is for that micro reason it is ensured that his memory will live on.

Pelosi's written comments come off the heels of her comments in an interview last week where she likened protesters against socialism to Nazis, saying they are "carrying swastikas and symbols like that" to town hall meetings.

It is confirmed now: Americans who are for free-market capitalism, rugged indvidualism, and American exceptionalism are white supremacists and Nazis. And just when you thought left-wing Democrats just could not go any lower.

Below this text is a letter congratulating The Jay Mundy Show on two wonderful years fighting for our founding conservative values from Richard Espinoza, the most loyal listener of the program. Indeed, Mr. Espinoza has been with the program for some time, and always supported me, while providing ideas, tips and inspiration, and churning out written conservative commentary for JayMundy.com.

I would like to thank all of my listeners, and JayMundy.com readers, for your support. Our success is because of you – without you, my dear listeners, we would be unable to fight for conservatism and expose the lies and distortions of the left in America and abroad.

We now go on to year three; and our mission is more important than ever, for we have an extreme left-wing president who seeks to alter the very essence of our country.

Dear Jay,

On behalf of all your loyal listeners, I would like to take this time and wish you congratulations on your second year hosting The Jay Mundy Show.

It has been two years now since you began your fight for conservative values on the air.

There are millions of Americans across this great nation who are just as angry as you and I are with all the problems that are going on in the country and world – but you give us a voice.

During President Bush’s two terms in office, we as patriotic Americans saw and heard it all: we witnessed the liberal media and their stooges tell lie after lie; and our blood boiled when we saw those “sick leftists,” to use your term, such as Code Pink, MoveOn.Org, and the Democrat Party speak negatively about our country and pass legislation against the founding conservative values of our nation. We conservatives too, have witnessed the left-wing wing Berkeley students and the Communist Hollywood left bash our brave men and women in the U.S Armed Forces, and we have watched as they shake hands with, and appease, our foreign enemies.

This, however, is where The Jay Mundy Show comes in.

Your listeners are fed up listening to the liberal media and their socialist college professors, and at the end of the day we all tune to The Jay Mundy Show because it helps clean our souls. It feels good to know that there is someone who understands our pain and frustration. And not only does The Jay Mundy Show help heal that pain, it helps give life to the American sprit.

This is the reason why The Jay Mundy Show has become as popular as it has.

Your left-wing opposition can say what they want, but they can never take away the fact that The Jay Mundy Show is the number one show in America. And we, America’s conservative warriors, made it that way. And thank God for The Jay Mundy Show because you understand how we feel.

As a native New Yorker you understand better then anyone how great our country is because you where there when it all happened on September 11, 2001. Report: Rupert Murdoch Considering Buying New York 'Daily News' By 'End of 2009'

A report relying excusively on confidential sources says that News Corporation Chairman Rupert Murdoch will buy the New York Daily News tabloid newspaper before the start of 2010.

For years, since Murdoch bought the Daily News' arch-rival the New York Post in 1993 (for a second time after having had to sell it five years earlier as a result of media cross-ownership laws), it has always been thought that Murdoch would either one day purchase the News or successfully squeeze it out of business as head of the cut-throat Post.

Indeed, it has been long-rumored that the New York Post is a major money-loser, and it has often been thought -- and this was well before the current turmoil in the newspaper industry -- that the Post could never become profitable going head-to-head with the News.

There are four major daily newspapers in New York City: the News, the Post, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Murdoch owns two of them -- the Post and The Journal -- and a purchase of the News would bring Murdoch's ownership to three of four New York City-based dailies.

It is difficult to believe, however, that Murdoch would be able to smoothly -- if at all -- purchase the News in the face of media monopoly laws. Indeed, Murdoch required a special waiver to buy the Post in 1993, for he already owned, and still does own, two New York City television stations (WWOR and WNYW). Granting Murdoch, who is hated by the left in America for apparently being the premier conservative media monopolist in the United States, an additional waiver for the purchase of the News would not be easy.

(Last year Murdoch was also considering purchasing Newsday, the Long Island newspaper serving Nassau and Suffolk counties, two suburban counties to the east of New York City. Murdoch did not purchase the paper, as Cablevision Chairman Michael Dolan pushed the price quite high and eventually purchased the paper for strategic reasons, as he saw it as an opportunity to compliment and promote his Cablevision services. The point though, is that in that case Murdoch would not have had to be granted court approval for the purchase, as Newsday serves a close, but different Designated Market Area (Newsday is also circulated in limited areas of Queens, New York City's eastern-most borough and the adjacent county to suburban Nassau County).)

Considering the turmoil in the media industry, however, the News purchase may be possible for Murdoch. Traditional media outlets are bleeding, and a court may take this into great consideration and give Murdoch the ability to buy the News if he were to make a solid argument that without a sale to him, the News -- and he would argue that the paper is a public good for New Yorkers -- would cease publication.

Mort Zuckerman, owner of the News, says that his left-leaning tabloid is not for sale and will never be for sale. The Bancroft family, however, said the same about their closely-held Journal for years, but they, of course, ended up selling the paper to Murdoch for a whopping $5 billion in May 2007.

In this media climate, specifically for newspapers which continue to shed advertising dollars and print readers, Zuckerman, who also own the left-leaning U.S. News and World Report magazine, may very well sell the News to his rival Murdoch.

If Murdoch were to purchase the News (and everything were to be cleared legally), there would be no protest here, for Murdoch is a newspaperman: he loves newspapers and values them; and when he buys one, he takes care of it.

And getting the moderately left-wing News under his control would not be a bad thing; perhaps a purchase would create one large New York City tabloid. Now that would be a good thing. Maybe for once in the history of this city, blue-collar New Yorkers will all be reading the same (conservative, we hope) newspaper.

Finally a politician has the strength to call the media and American public’s attention to the death of music star Michael Jackson what it is: disgraceful.

Republican Congressman Peter King of Long Island called Michael Jackson a “pervert” and a “pedophile” in an Internet video posted on his Web site earlier this week. Congressman King – who is mulling a 2010 Senate run – also questioned why other individuals who the press and public should revere – like those who died wearing the uniform of the country; our firemen and women; our Catholic priests, nuns and brothers; our cops; our volunteers; our caring; our public servants; and our veterans – get nowhere near the attention Jackson has.

Congressman King’s pedophilia comment, of course, is a reference to allegations brought against Michael Jackson, who died late last month at 50 from apparent heart failure, by guardians of young boys who alleged they were molested by the popular (POP) music icon.

In 1993, Jackson was accused of molesting a young boy; the case was settled out of court and criminal charges were never brought against him. In 2005, Jackson again was accused of molesting young boys; this time, though, criminal charges were brought against Jackson. He was acquitted.

In the eyes of the law, Jackson was not guilty of molestation, and that is exactly how Jackson ought to be remembered.

But what about Jackson’s immorality: his being a transvestite; his behavior not worthy of a word-wide icon who is watched and revered by millions of young fans – fans who may seek to emulate him? This is the problem, not the pedophilia, for he was acquitted of the molestation and in the United States of America we respect the rulings and decisions of our courts.

Congressman King’s gripe, unfortunately, was focused on the pedophilia; it should have been on Jackson’s immorality and his disgraceful performance as a role model to millions of young people around the world.

Jackson increasingly altered his appearance over the years to appear more like a woman. A transvestite quite obviously suffers from a mental disease, one that causes an individual to have abnormal urges to appear and act as the opposite gender. Those urges could be contained, though, and Jackson decided not to contain them. The young people of the world should not be exposed to such indecent behavior; but Jackson did not care.

When he died, news stories – and then two coroners’ reports – revealed that there were a plethora of drugs in Jackson’s stomach, along with needle marks on his body, suggesting that his drug use was frequent and wide. The young people of America should not be exposed to drug use either, no questions asked.

Additionally, over the years, there were multiple reports that Michael Jackson was suffering from two skin ailments, and that they, according to he and his supporters, were the cause for his change of skin color – literally – from black to white.

His change of color, it will be argued here, was his desire, and that he made it happen; the skin ailments may have contributed, but he wanted to be white, and he made himself white. Just as he changed the appearance of his nose through plastic surgery to make it seem more like that of a white European's, he changed his skin color to move away from the black community.

It is for the above reason why the black community’s overwhelming support for this individual is stunning: he is not a role model, especially to young black children; he is a disgrace to the black community of the worst kind. Jackson moved away from the black community – again, literally, by changing his skin color – and should not be lauded by that community. In reality Jackson ought to be one of the most hated men in modern black America; he is not, however, and as mentioned it is stunning and unbelievable that this is the case.

There is no mistaking that Michael Jackson was a music sensation; he created album after album that shattered sales records, and for that, he is notable.

Role model, icon – those though are scary words when speaking of Michael Jackson.

The media have disgracefully showered Americans with coverage of Michael Jackson’s death, culminating, of course, with yesterday's memorial service in Los Angeles which Nielsen says garnered 31.1 million television viewers. They have pushed this role model, “great guy”story and it is quite unfortunate, for many individuals around the country and world believe the lies.

That is why is was so refreshing to hear Congressman King come out against the hysteria.

Immorality; being a transvestite; hatred for self; hatred for race: those were some of Michael Jackson’s characteristics (there are so many negative traits beyond those listed, and they all just re-affirm how this individual should not be praised).

Congressman King was right: The praise has to stop, now.
