Since 1 year and half since his masterpiece album Capricorn, Taiwan King of Pop Jay Chou finally released his most anticipating album, his 10th album titled The Era (跨時代 - Kua Shi Dai). Jay Chou has been very busy in recent years as he appeared in his first idol drama "Pandamen", and his film with Lin zhi Ling "Treasure Hunter".

Jay Chou has finally come back to the music scene, after a few endeavors, by the creation of a new duo group, The Drifters (浪花兄弟 lit. Ocean Spray Brothers), made up of 2 male members, Darren (邱凱偉) and Chang Qing (楊常青).

The Drifters' new album of the same name will be released under the JVR label on March 16th and will have 11 tracks. The album's first track, "Write to You When I Think of You" (想你就寫信), was produced as a collaboration between Jay and Vincent Fang and is accompanied with a MV directed by Jay and shot in Japan.

Best of luck to them and hopefully this new endeavor of Jay Chou's will be a success. It is in the music industry after all.

Jay Chou's 'Pandamen' confirmed to air next year

It seems that CTS wants to heat up Friday nights. After Zai Zai’s ‘Black & White’ received good ratings, they will now pass the baton to Jay Chou’s self-directed, self-produced & guest starring ‘Pandamen’. Not only does it star Jerry Yan, Wilber Pan, Shawn Yue & Will Liu, his rumoured girlfriend Jessie Chiang is also one of the female leads. It seems that Jay Chou wants to prove that not only does he support his best friends, he also cares for his girlfriend.

Currently during the 10 pm slot on Friday nights, besides CTV’s ‘One Million Star’, FTV, SETTV & CTS are all broadcasting television series. CTS broadcasted Golden Bell favourite ‘Black & White’ and the ratings remained high. And after CTS bought the broadcasting rights of Jay Chou’s big work ‘Pandamen’, there were outside rumours saying that it was impossible for it to air on the known ‘cold’ Friday nights. However after careful assessment, they decided to keep to their decision, and it is now confirmed that the drama will air on the 22nd of January next year.

Jay Chou previously said that ‘Pandamen’ is a television series filmed like a movie. The production fees are estimated to surpass $100 million. In the drama, Jay plays a valiant police detective, but his scenes are much less than Nan Quan Mama’s Yu Hao & Devon (Dan Tou) who are the main leads. But Jay says loyally: “If I have a lot of scenes, then what are they supposed to do?”

In the drama, Jay’s rumoured girlfriend Jessie Chiang plays ‘JVR Music’ teacher but she doesn’t have many scenes with Jay. Rather she plays a couple with Yu Hao, but there are not many intimate scenes between them, seeming to show Jay’s ‘over-protectiveness’.

Because ‘Pandamen’ has many scenes filmed in the zoo, CTS is planning on organizing a charity event with the city zoo.

Jay Chou uses no substitute in The Treasure Hunter

Mando-pop sensation Jay Chou went all out for the upcoming action/adventure film “The Treasure Hunter”.

The singer-turned-actor has committed himself to every action scene in the film, insisting that no stand-in substitutes for him even in the most furious fight scenes.

Siu-Tung Ching, the film’s kung fu director, complimented that Jay is a gifted action actor and he managed to finish each series of moves, with appropriate strength, only by one take.

“The difference between me and others is that I finish it [the action scenes] all by myself,” Chou said.

“With all the protection measures nowadays, I will hardly get hurt during the filming,” he added.

“The Treasure Hunter” is the third Jay Chou-starred film following his screen debut “Secret” in 2007 and basketball-themed “Kung Fu Dunk” in 2008.

Co-starring Taiwan’s homegrown supermodel-actress Lin Chiling and mainland veteran actor Chen Daoming, the flick is slated for screen on December 31.

Cindy Yen (袁咏琳 - Yen Yong Lin) is a new female singer, come from classical music background. Cindy was born in Texas America, and start to learn Piano at 5 years and the violin at 10 years old.

What make Cindy Yen famous is her duet song with Jay Chou "Sand Painting" or Hua Sha (画沙). The Treasure Hunter is the first collaboration between Jay Chou and Lin Chi-Ling, two of Taiwan's hottest stars.

With a budget of 400 million New Taiwan dollars (US$12 million), the action-packed film tells the adventure of Qiao Fei (Jay Chou), who strives to protect a hidden treasure with the help of Lan Ting (Lin Chi-Ling).

The Treasure Hunter is playing at Skycity cinemas later this year.

Directed by Taiwanese director Kevin Chu, Treasure Hunter depicts a story of a chivalrous young man, Qiao Fei (Jay Chou) who risks it all and attempts to defeat an unscrupulous organization by protecting the treasure. The movie cost up to S$21,000,000 to produce, and also stars leggy Taiwanese supermodel, Lin Chi-ling alongside Eric Tsang, Chen Daoming, Chen Chuhe, and Will Liu.

After a long worldwide search, finally Taiwan's pop singer Jay Chou will star alongside Nicolas Cage and Cameron Diaz in the movie remake of popular US television series "The Green Hornet," reports here said Saturday.

According to Hong Kong media, since Stephen Chow gave up on starring in "The Green Hornet", the Kato role has been up in the air, yesterday (7th of August), the movie company filming this movie finally confirmed Jay Chou is going to play The Green Hornet's assistant Kato in place Stephen Chow, Jay Chou is officially advancing into Hollywood.

It was rumoured that Stephen Chow stood down as the director and gave up on starring in the movie because of differing opinions behind the scenes, since then the Kato role has been up in the air, even though it was once rumoured that Korean star Kwon Sang Woo was taking on the role, but Stephen Chow's assistant recently exposed online stating that Jay Chou was going to play Kato.

Chou, 30, has been cast as the superhero's sidekick Kato, a role played by the late Chinese-American martial arts icon Bruce Lee about 40 years ago, said the United Daily News.

"I am very happy to act in an international film. I will do my best," the paper quoted Chou as saying in a statement issued by his company JVR Music.

Chou won the role after a video-link audition a month ago with the movie's director Michel Gondry and writer Seth Rogen, who will play the lead role Britt Reid, or The Green Hornet, the report said.

Chou will start shooting for the film, scheduled to be released on July 9 2010, after wrapping up his directorial work for a television series and two concerts in China, it said.

The Apple Daily said Chou replaced Hong Kong star Stephen Chow, who was originally set to direct and act in the film, but had pulled out due to differences with Columbia Pictures.

Chou, also famous in China, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia for his pop music, has expanded into filmmaking in recent years, starring in a number of box-office hits including "Initial D," "The Curse of the Golden Flower" and "Secret."

Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai denied to have reconciled their relationship.

Jay Chou said at a meet-the-fans session in Guangzhou, "I was prepared to clarify this. I love magic and had planned to open shops according to the initials order of poker cards - Jack, Queen then King - sequence. Some time back, I opened a restaurant named Mr. J. The nominations for the 20th Golden Melody Awards were announced on May 15. A total of 101 works are up for 23 awards. Jay Chou has again wowed the music world garnering eight nominations for his album Capricorn, including Best Mandarin Album, Best Mandarin Male Singer, Best Album Producer, plus Best Song of the Year, Best Lyricist, Best Composer for his hit song Rice Fragrance, and Best MV Director for Mr. Magic.

Highly acclaimed newcomer Crowd Lu has proved to be the revelation of the year. His debut album 100 Ways For Living is the black horse fighting on five fronts: Best Newcomer, Best Song of the Year, Best Mandarin Album, Best Composer, and Best Arrangement. Singer-songwriter Khalil Fong's Orange Moon got four nominations, as did Taiwanese diva Jody Chiang's Holding You Tight.

Jay Chou faces fierce competition from Leehom Wang (Heart Beat), Xiao Huang Chi (I'm Xiao Huang Chi), Hong Kong singer Eason Chan (Don't Want to Let Go), and Khalil Fong for Best Mandarin Male Singer.
