Clean and Simple Thank-You Card

This week the theme of Mo's Challenge #184 is "Clean and Simple". A clean and simple greeting card has lots of "white space" and a limited amount of embellishments.

I really like this style and most of the cards I make are clean and simple. I learned the hard way that simple is the the way to go if you want to send your card through the US Postal Service.

I made the background for this card with the Cuddlebug "Thank You" dry embossing folder.

I used the digital stamp "Thanks" from Mo's Digital Pencil Shop. This is a brand new image that Ms. Manning gave away over Mothers Day weekend.

I colored the image with Copic sketch markers and cut it out with a Spellbinders die.

Handmade Mothers Day Card

This Sunday is Mothers Day and it is time to get a card in the mail. My mother is an excellent cook so I made this card with the vintage stove image from Mo's Digital Pencil Store.

I have learned that handmade cards do not have to be perfect. The important thing is that they or unique, original and made with love!

I will enter this card in Mo's Challenge #158 - Anything Goes!

M Is for the Many things she gave me,
O Means only that she’s growing Old.
T Is for the Tears she shed to save me,
H Is for her Heart of purest gold.
E Is for her Eyes with love light shining,
R Means Right and Right she’ll always be.

Put them all together, They spell MOTHER.
A word that means the world to me.

"All original stories exist in a perfect state as thought forms that are separate from you. Listen and tune them in like a radio signal."

Mr. Orion provides a detailed explanation of the writing process that he uses. He tells how he does research, takes notes, develops an outline, writes the first draft, receives input from other writers, makes revisions and finishes the story.

He gives valuable advice on how to get paid for writing. He shares many insider's tips that will be helpful to aspiring writers. He encourages writers to connect with other writers to exchange ideas and techniques.
Is it easy to be a professional writer? No, it is not easy but Mr. Orion tells writers that their voice is worthy of being heard, and the fight to make it heard is never in vain.

My Thoughts
This is a very informative book for anyone who is interested in writing. It is educational, motivational and inspirational. The author uses his writing skills to convey his passion for the craft of writing and to inspire and encourage others to use their "writer gene" to the best of their ability.

Mr. Orion is very candid in explaining the process that he uses when working on a writing project. He holds nothing back...if you want to be a better writer I am sure you will benefit from this book.

The author adds a bonus section to the book that details his thoughts on "interactive media and the future of storytelling". He shares his experiences writing for video game developers and the Walt Disney Company.

"Live to Write Another Day" is a real treasure for writers and everyone interested in the written word. This book is a survival guide for writers and an example of what excellent writing looks like. Highly recommended.

Tim Holtz Mini Rays Greeting Card

This greeting card features the results of a Tim Holtz embossing folder that I purchased last week. The embossing folder "Mini Rays"
came in the "Sizzix BINGO Playing Games Set A2." This image was designed to fit an artist trading card but can also be used on a greeting card.

I started with a blank kraft card that measures 4" by 5 1/2".

I used a piece of patterned paper that features watermelon seeds (Imaginisce #003425) for the background. I used a "Loops" (Martha Stewart) Punch on the corners.

I used the "Mini Rays" embossing folder with a piece of kraft cardstock. I used my Cuddlebug embossing machine to emboss the paper.

I glued (Craft Bond Rubber Cement) the embossed cardstock to the background paper and embellished it with an "Explore" sticker from K & Co.

He and his wife live in Montgomery, Texas.

Anna's Story

Mr. Don Dilmore tells how God used many people to help Anna Lybarger through one desperate situation after another as she was raised in Nazi Germany during World War II.

Anna married an American GI and moved to the United States but discovered that her husband had a serious drinking problem. She took her children and divorced her husband but was soon involved in another abusive relationship.

Anna eventually met and married Herschel Lybarger. He was a good man and provided a stable home for Anna and her children. Anna and Herschel had a son who was brain-damaged and suffered serious mental and physical challenges. Anna trusted God to help them conquer adversity and hardship.

Anna's story is about hope and faith in God. God was always with her. He answered her prayers and brought peace and love into her life.

My Thoughts
I met Mr. Dilmore at a Christmas Market at my church. I enjoyed visiting with him and purchased this book from him. I picked up this book last week and read the entire volume in a couple of days.

I found Anna's story very interesting and inspiring. My family came to the United States from Germany in the early 1900s so I was fascinated with the details about her life in Germany.

I enjoyed reading about a woman who lives in a neighboring town and learning some local history along the way. Mrs. Lybarger's Christian testimony left a deep impression on me.

This story is about faith, hope and love. If you are going through a difficult time, this book will encourage and inspire you. Mr. Dilmore did a good job sharing this story.

Spring Card With Baby Fairy

Where did the warm weather go? I woke up this morning and got a real chill when I let the dogs out. It seems like winter is giving us one last blast.

This week the theme for Mo's Digital Challenge #181 is "Spring".

This is how I made the card:
(1.) I started with a blank pre-folded kraft card that measures 4" by 5 1/2".
(2.) I found this lovely double-sided patterned paper at Michael's on the Clearance Shelf (Imaginisce). One side is red and decorated with watermelon seeds and the other side is white and decorated with strawberries. I used both sides as the background for this card.
(3.) I used the same digital image that I used last week. This cute little baby fairy is from Mo's 3 Baby Fairies set. I colored the image with Copic sketch markers and cut it out with a Spellbinders die. I attached it to the card with foam squares.
(4.) I embellished the card with a "Celebrate" sentiment sticker, a vellum butterfly and two insect die cuts. All of these embellishments are from K & Co.

(5.) I used two red glitter swirls (Recollections) to hold the butterfly in place and add a little sparkle to the card.

This card could be used as a birthday card or just a reminder to CELEBRATE life and everything in it.

Book Review: What NOT To Do In Your Photography Business by Chris Darbonne

What Went Wrong?
Some research states that up to 50% of all small businesses fail. Chris Darbonne shares her experience of opening a retail photography studio that no longer exists. This book details the lessons that she learned.

The author is very candid about the mistakes that she made in her business. The first chapter tells about an aggressive saleswoman who sold Ms. Darbonne an advertisement at a movie theater. The price of the ad was thirteen thousand dollars for the ad to run for eight months. YIKES! The author learned that it was not wise to make hasty decisions when it comes to purchasing advertising. Ditto for aggressive Yellow Pages sales reps.

Ms. Dabonne also shares "What I Did Right" in her business. One decision that was "right" was hiring two photographers from the College of Creative Studies. These assistants were very helpful in building the business and offering a wide variety of products. However, the author regrets the fact that she did not do a better job training the assistants to handle telephone inquiries about her services and pricing.

Would Ms. Darbonne do it again? Her answer is YES! She is happy having gone on this adventure and is OK with where she is now.

My Thoughts
I have read quite a few books about how to succeed in business. I enjoyed reading this honest appraisal of mistakes that led to the closing of this business.

The author is very upbeat about the lessons she learned in this adventure. I think this book would be an interesting read for any aspiring photographer AND anyone thinking about starting a small business.

The lessons is this book are very clear. HAVE A PLAN AND PROCEED SLOWLY. The author states that she is no longer taking pictures. That is a shame. I hope she will eventually regroup and start again...a little older and a little wiser.

Mo's "Things With Wings" Card Challenge

This is the first time I have made a handmade card in several weeks. I will enter this card in "Mo's Challenge #180 - Things With Wings".

This is how I made the card;
(1.) I started with a blank kraft card that measures 4" by 5 1/2".
(2.) I used the Flowers border die from the Sizzix Dots, Flowers & Rick-Rack Set of embossing folders for the embossed flowers on the side of the card. I ran the card and die through my Cuddlebug machine. I rounded the corners on the right side of the card.

(3.) I chose a digital image from Mo's 3 Baby Fairies set. This set has some awesome images for Spring! I colored the image with Copic sketch markers and added highlights with a white gel pen.

(4.) I embellished the card with a felt cloud die cut from a Hobby Lobby Easter set, a "Smile" sentiment sticker from K & Co. and a pink glitter heart from Martha Stewart.

This book has an important message for children. We all have special talents. The story emphasizes the importance of discovering and appreciating our unique individual talent instead of comparing our abilities to others.

The animal characters in this book are delightful and the color illustrations add value to the text. Children will identify with Haley and her striving to find her own special talent.

This story has a very joyful ending. God has given us all special talents that we can share with others!

Recommended for children of all ages.

My Thoughts
I accepted my first job as a school librarian in 1975. I worked as a librarian for 30 years...my whole life revolved around books. I admit that I was very skeptical when I heard about the first ereaders. I decided to give it a try in 2009 when I downloaded the Kindle for PC application to my laptop computer. I got my first ereader (a Kindle 3) in October, 2010. I received a Kindle Fire HD for a Christmas gift in December, 2012. I am HOOKED on the Kindle!

This book is incredible and should be required reading for educators, librarians, authors, publishers and anyone interested in the future of books and reading. Jason Merkoski has done a great deal of research and writes in a scholarly, understandable and enjoyable manner. Educators and library professionals need to be educated in the latest trends in publishing technology. This book is an excellent place to find valuable and practical information.

Kindle Books For Kids: The Snake Who Wanted To Be A Horse by Valerie Harmon

About The Author And Illustrator
The concept for the WantsToBe Series (and this is book #1 in that series) came about when the illustrator, Carol Stevens, told bedtime stories to her youngest son. He'd pick two animals and she'd make up a story about them, ending with a mashup of the two animals. He loved those stories and they turned out so hilarious that Stevens wanted to share the story with more children.

She approached author Valerie Harmon, and together they are writing and illustrating stories about animals who imaginatively solve their problem with lots of hard work and sacrifice.

A Snake and a Horse
A colorful snake is not happy with his life. He has a tender tummy and he hates to crawl on rough and rocky roads.

One day the snake meets a friendly horse. The snake thinks that if he could become a horse, he could travel across the dirt and stones without any pain. The horse tells the snake that he needs to eat grass, neigh and gallop if he wants to be a horse. It is very hard for the snake to change but he is very determined to be a horse.

The snake is just about to give up when something magical happens! He does not exactly change into a horse, but he is much closer than he was before. The snake's hard work and determination pays off and he lives happily ever after as a "Snorse".

My Thoughts
This is a very imaginative story about a snake and a horse. Kids always love to read about these animals and I believe this story will be very popular with young readers.

The color illustrations are excellent and add a great deal of value to the text. I read this ebook on my Kindle Fire. The illustrations filled half the screen on my ereader. I would love to see this book formatted so that the illustrations fill the entire screen.

The determination of the snake and the encouragement of the horse are great examples for young readers. I look forward to reading more books in the "WantsToBe" Series. Highly Recommended!

The tour guide is confused and annoyed by all these questions because dinosaurs are EXTINCT....or are they?

My Thoughts
Kids love dinosaur books. When I worked as a school librarian, I could never keep the dinosaur books on the shelves. "Where Are The Dinos? is a delightful picture book in rhyme for young boys and girls. Children learn by asking questions and this book is full of questions about DINOSAURS!

I read this ebook on my Kindle Fire. The landscape orientation makes the full-page color illustrations very appealing. Bob Ostrom's humorous illustrations add a great deal of value to this story. Each screen view features a full-screen illustration with two or four lines of text.

Young children will be delighted with all the "dino" questions in this book. Older readers will also enjoy the enthusiasm, persistence and inquisitiveness of the young zoo visitor in this book.

Kids should be encouraged to ask questions. This book will entertain and teach children that questioning is very important in the learning process.
Highly recommended!

The Advantages Of DIY Greeting Cards by Christina Delgado

Happy Easter! I hope you had a wonderful and blessed holiday weekend.
Many of you know that making handmade greeting cards is one of my favorite hobbies. I am happy to welcome a fellow paper crafter and guest blogger Christina Delgado.

Today we find ourselves in the age of Do-It-Yourselfers. There are many reasons that people are shifting toward making their own products. The first, and probably most influential reason, is to save money in a time of recession. However, people are also finding that by making products that they would normally buy, they can get exactly what they want, rather than settling for mass-produced items that are close, but not perfect. One industry that is not immune to the effects of the Do-It-Yourself generation is the greeting card industry. The number of people engaging in DIY greeting cards is increasing every year and here are the biggest reasons why:

1. Money

Although buying all of the different materials that are required to make greeting cards can be expensive if you're not doing it right, the cost is actually generally still cheaper per card than the cards one would buy at the local drugstore or grocery store. The benefit is that you buy a good amount of materials once and don't need to spend more money every time you need to send out a greeting card. You simply gather the materials you bought and make your own. This makes every greeting card you make after the initial purchase seem free!

2. A Personal Touch

Even the most unique cards from a store will be somewhat generic. Although some of them have funny sayings or cute animals on the front that you think your loved one will enjoy, the card was not made just for them. There will be other copies out there, and ya never know - they might get the same one twice. When making your own greeting cards though, you can personalize them so that you can demonstrate how well you know the person you are giving the card to, and you can make sure that they will truly enjoy it. A personalized card shows that you took the time to design and construct a card that celebrates their unique personhood. They will seem exponentially more thoughtful.

3. Creative Outlet

Everyone has those days where all you want to do is come home and unwind. You don't want to think about the stresses of work or family life. You simply want to do something that you truly enjoy to get your mind off of the things that you don't want to think about. An activity that can help you to take your mind off of all of these things is making greeting cards. It allows you to be creative, but also gives you a finished product that you can be proud of, a definite mood lifter for most everyone. If you are looking for a hobby that will make other people happy and will allow you to get your creative juices flowing, DIY greeting cards are a great choice.

How To Make An Audio Book by Brad Baird

Do you ever read with your ears? Mr. Brad Baird is my guest today and shares his expertise on recording audio books.

Audio books are electronic devices used to listen to books. Audio books provide wonderful entertainment for those who commute on a daily basis and for those who do not have enough time or the physical capacity to read, such as blind people. They're also great for runners who prefer to listen to books rather than music, or those without the means to buy books. They are available in three different formats - tape, CD, and MP3 file. The voicework is typically performed by a qualified actor, but it may also be done by the author of the book or someone with the right vocal qualities for the specific story. Now that you know the basics, it's time to get started. In order to successfully create an audio book yourself, keep the following tips in mind.

Equipment

First, find a device that can record at a level of impressive quality, but is relatively easy to use. If you're not picky though, you can find an old-fashioned tape recorder or a computer that comes with integrated microphones, and a recording program such as QuickTime. You may even be able to find a recording software that offers the ability to adjust the quality of the sound to consummation. Second, you need to set up a room in your home where all your recording will be done - without disruption. That room should be arranged so that it does not have any echo. A good example would be a room whose floors have been carpeted, but has good acoustics. Of course, the best option for recording an audio book would be to have access to a professional studio, but only consider this if you really need to make a special audio book, like for a present or to read aloud a published book of yours that you know will sell in this format.

Recording

Prior to starting the recording, you must ensure that the device is correctly picking up your voice. Other things that must be done include ensuring that appropriate lighting is provided in the room and that a stand is holding the book (trust me - go with the stand, don't hold it). Always make a concerted effort to use a clear and confident tone when performing the recording. Depending on the theme of the book, you should use your voice to communicate the sentimental meaning behind the words and sentences. If there is a dialogue between two characters, then you simply ought to make some distinction between the two. For children's stories or comedies, feel free to go all out and delve into character work, but otherwise, keep it subtle.

Finalization

The recording phase must be spaced out over several sessions. Be aware that generally, CDs and tapes can't contain more than one hour of audio content, while an MP3 file can contain a lot more. Figure out where a break will occur so that when you need to burn the recording onto CDs or tapes, you can save precious time. Time will be key, since you'll want to go through all your recordings and find the best take of each section, then compile them all together - just like takes of a movie. Lastly, be sure to have proper insurance on all of your equipment, space & merchandise! This might mean business insurance and it might mean home insurance, but whatever works, works!

Once the audio book has been finalized, listen to it - just to ensure that it reflects the expected outcome. Things don't always sound how you think they will on the back end!

Mr. Sperry provides nearly 500 pages of text, color photos, maps and diagrams. Texas is divided into zones and the author recommends different kinds of plants for different kinds of climate in the state.

This book provides basic information about planning your landscape, trees, shrubs, lawns, flower gardens, vegetable gardens and solving plant problems. Each section of the book is illustrated with dozens of beautiful color illustrations.

This book is well-known and is considered a must-have for Texas gardeners and hobbyists.

My Thoughts
I picked up a copy of the 1982 version of this book at an estate sale. There is now a revised edition (1991) available in both print and for the Kindle on Amazon.Com. I am very pleased with my older edition and do not feel the need to update at this time.

Why am I reading a gardening book???
I have to admit that I am not very good with plants. I was motivated to start reading this book because we just bought a new home with beautiful landscaping in the front and back yards. I have LOTS of questions and I am finding the answers I need in this book.

I like this book because it provides basic information about how to choose plants, water, fertilize, prune and avoid insects and disease. This book is a good starting place for finding answers to gardening and landscaping questions. I hope the information in this book will help me keep all my new plants healthy and beautiful. I am especially nervous about the roses....my new yard has about 20 rose bushes in full bloom.

"Neil Sperry's Complete Guide To Texas Gardening" is a very useful reference book for all gardeners in the great state of Texas. This is a practical guide for both beginners and experienced horticulture enthusiasts.

Mr. Green includes an entire chapter in this book about how reading hundreds of inspirational stories, self-help books and biographies has inspired him to great levels of success. I have always been drawn to biographies and I felt a special connection with the author and his love of true-life books.

"Everything I Know About Success I Learned From Napoleon Hill" is much more than a guide to achieving monetary success. This is a guide for successful living that will benefit all ages. If you read this book and apply the principles to your life, you will be greatly rewarded. The lessons presented in this book are an educational course for living life to the fullest. My Thoughts
Beetrice is a wonderful character. Her green eyes are bee-lightful and she is the local expert on honey bees. Ms. Dweck does a wonderful job mixing fiction and facts about honey bees in this picture book for children. This story is both educational and entertaining. This author does an awesome job writing "edutaining" books for kids.

Beetrice learns a valuable story about life in this story. She learns that life as a honey bee is not as wonderful and carefree as she imagined. She learns that honey bees work very hard and face many challenges and dangers. She realizes that she still loves bees but she is perfectly content to "bee" a girl.

I read this ebook on my Kindle Fire ereader. Ms. Barba did a beautiful job with the full-screen color illustrations. The landscape orientation makes this ebook a perfect fit for the Kindle.

"BeeWitched" is a great selection for spring reading. Children will love Beetrice and will learn from her experiences. Highly recommended!

Test Prep Can Be Fun
This book is an entertaining and educational book driven by the Common Core State Standards developed by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices. The book focuses on second through fourth grade concepts and can be used as a remediation tool for fifth graders.

The story tells about the Chris Robb, a frustrated third-grader, who was trying to pass a standardized test. Chris had all kinds of crazy experiences in his chaotic classroom.

Chris thought the name of his teacher was the silliest name he had ever heard. Chris always seemed to forget how to say it right. One time, he called his teacher Ms. Bubblegum instead of Ms. Bubblebrain. Her name was not the only silly thing about Ms. Bubblebrain. She also shouted the names of really gross foods when she was mad or surprised. Ms. Bubblebrain would yell things like "hairy cricket biscuits" and "soggy salmon salami".

Chris was terrorized at school by the dreaded Chicken Nugget Man. This was a creature that ate children and caused all kinds of frightening experiences for the kids.
Chris learned that the children with the highest scores on their standardized tests would be in charge of the Anti-Chicken-Nugget Task Force. Chris decided it was time to turn his life around and try harder in school.

My Thoughts
I really like the concept of providing educators with a resource that makes learning fun. This book is absolutely loaded with questions and exercises that will reinforce both language and math educational standards.

I think kids will recognize and enjoy the humor and satire in this book. Here is an example of a clever play on words;
"Preston stole a kindergartener's yellow Captain Stinkypants Thermos and drank out of it."
Most kids will immediately remember the popular "Captain Underpants" books and smile at the similarity.

The only problem I have with the book is sometimes the humor was a bit extreme and OVER THE TOP for my taste. I know that I am not a child but I think the humor could be toned down to be more appropriate for classroom use. Here is one example:

"The room was silent. Ms. Bubblebrain stared at Chris. Her mouth opened so wide that a family of flying gorillas could have flown inside. Her jaw dropped to the floor. Then she said it, one word at a time. It was the longest, grossest food she had ever named. 'Holy peanut-butter-and-donkey-lasagna-covered, spinach pretzel-filled, beef-and-boxer-shorts donuts with brown sugar skeletons and banana-covered battery frosting! Chris, you actually remembered something!'"

This book fills a need for kid-friendly test prep material. Mr. Sathy has produced a resource that can be used by both teachers and parents to improve their student's test scores.

My Thoughts
This book has been on my "want" list for several months so I was very pleased when I found a digital copy at the public library. I have read both favorable and unfavorable reviews of the book so I was anxious to read it myself.

Many of the "unexpected entrepreneurs" in this book lost a job or left a job and were forced to start a small business from scratch to pay their bills. They say "necessity is the mother of invention" and that was definitely the case in many of the stories in this book. These people have turned their passion into profit while creating a more meaningful life for themselves.

The primary lesson that I learned from this book is the importance of mindset. You really have to be determined, persistent and dedicated to making your business work. That means your entire life must revolve around this business 24/7. The case studies in this book are NOT get-rich-quick schemes. The owners of these small businesses had to work very hard to achieve success. The startup cost might be $100 but the amount of work, sacrifice and perseverance that is required is tremendous. I am afraid the author makes it look a bit too easy.

This book offers inspiration for readers who have lots of passion but little money to invest in a startup.

My Dog Has Cancer

The past week has passed in a blur. We recently got the news that Buddy, our beloved Labrador Retriever, has an aggressive lymphoma cancer.

We have never had a dog with cancer before. We were completely blindsided by this diagnosis. We knew something was wrong when Buddy seemed to be easily fatigued and fragile. These symptoms manifested themselves in a very short period of time (about one week).

We took Buddy to our veterinarian last Monday. She detected multiple swollen lymph glands. She did some blood work and reported that Buddy had an aggressive form of canine lymphoma cancer.

We were shocked and devastated. We didn't want to lose our beloved pet but we didn't have the funds to provide him with traditional chemotherapy treatment.

On Wednesday, our veterinarian called and said she found an experimental drug trial at Texas A & M University that Buddy might qualify for. This program is testing dogs with lymphoma cancer. I was cautiously optimistic that this program might be able to help our dog. We made an appointment at the Small Animal Clinic at Texas A & M University for the next day.

College Station is about 70 miles from our home so my husband and I started out early in the morning. We had a 10:30 am appointment to see a veterinarian who would evaluate Buddy's condition. The doctor and student assistant that saw Buddy were very friendly and explained all of our options for treatment. We soon discovered that Buddy DID qualify for the clinical trial program.

We were sent home with medication and a large journal that I will use to keep detailed records of Buddy's treatment. We will take Buddy to the clinic once a week for four weeks and then every other week for as long as he is in the program.

We have hope. I will report Buddy's progress on our "Buddy's Canine Lymphoma" Facebook page. We would love for you to LIKE this page and support us in this journey.

This is the second book that I have read by Ms. Carter. I find her writing stimulating and inspiring. She is very good at presenting her research in an interesting way that the reader can understand and apply to personal circumstances.

Midlife is a time of discovery, possibilities and hope. The author advises mid- lifers to keep evolving, learning new skills, and challenging your mind and body. The best is yet to be...indeed!

Ms. Carter includes "A Life-Changing List" for people in the midlife years. I found this list to be very inspiring. If you are stuck in a midlife rut, I think this book will open your eyes and help you see some new possibilities for your life.

Reading really is a habit that we have to practice and develop. Mr. Hendricks expresses his love and enthusiasm for reading in a delightful manner. It doesn't really matter the number of books you read. The important thing is that you read, read, read!

If you have not experienced the joy of daily reading, this book will inspire and motivate you to get started. Your life will never be the same!

My Thoughts
This is an excellent story for the young cooks (both male and female) in your family. Caarina is determined to prove that she is up to the task that the Fairy Queen assigned her. Caarina demonstrates intelligence, determination and persistence is this delightful story.

I read this story on my Kindle Fire. The story is designed with a landscape orientation and full-screen illustrations. There are four lines of rhyming text on each screen view.

Gemini did a fantastic job with the illustrations in this book. The soft colors in the background contrast with the bright facial features of the characters. Children will notice the details in the pictures...it looks like Caarina is always surrounded by fairy dust.

I recommend this book for children of all ages. Caarina demonstrates what it takes to overcome adversity and make a dream come true!

My Thoughts
This book was a fast read and filled with color screenshots and links. I have read several books about Pinterest but this one really has me excited about setting up boards and pinning.

I currently pin my blog posts and have noticed that I am getting traffic to my blog from the Pinterest links. My goal for the future is to use Pinterest as a virtual filing system that reflects all my interests and passions. You can designate your boards as "private" if you don't want others to see them.

Pinterest Savvy provides basic information about using Pinterest and explains exactly WHY you need to use it. The links are excellent for finding avid pinners to follow and getting a feel for how to use the site. The author shares many tips from the book on her Pinterest Savy website.

If you are looking for Pinterest "how-to" and inspiration, this is the book for you!

My Thoughts
This is a short and sweet rhyming story about a little girl and a handmade Valentine card. I have been making handmade cards for several years so this story is near and dear to my heart.

The lesson in this story is that it is the feelings behind the gift that counts. You don't need to spend money to express your love to those near you. A small handmade item means more than an expensive gift purchased with little thought or emotion.

I read this ebook on my Kindle Fire and found the formatting appropriate for young readers. There is a small color illustration and four lines of rhyming text on each screen view.

This is a wonderful story for Valentine's Day or any day. Highly recommended!
