The free Jamroom Myspace module is online!

I've just upload a new [b:6cfa9c1a2f]free[/b:6cfa9c1a2f] Jamroom 4 module to the Jamroom Marketplace - Jamroom MySpace 1.0.0. This new module is a simple module that incorporates the "Post to MySpace" service as outlined here:

http://wiki.developer.myspace.com/index.php?title=How_to_Add_Post_To_MySpace_to_Your_Site

It includes a new {jr_myspace} template function that can be used in your skin/profile theme templates, and will create a small MySpace icon that users can click on to post the linked content to their MySpace page.

You'll need to be a licensed Jamroom user to download the new Jamroom MySpace module.

Any feedback is welcome ;)

Thanks to Pasher for his help on testing the new module - thank you!

I hope you enjoy the release!

To coincide with the release of Jamroom 4.1.3, all of the modules that are developed and supported by us (Talldude Networks) have been updated to look better (and some have new features) in the new Jamroom 4.1.3 Module Manager:
[list:576479a5ce]
[*:576479a5ce][b:576479a5ce]jrMobile[/b:576479a5ce] - the Jamroom Mobile module has been updated with a new feature to redirect a non-mobile browser that enters a URL directly to a mobile page. There is a new setting that controls this in the Jamroom Config -> Jamroom Modules -> Settings section for the Jamroom Mobile module. Note that you must be running Jamroom 4.1.3+ to use the new Jamroom Mobile module 1.1.0.
[*:576479a5ce][b:576479a5ce]jrYouTube[/b:576479a5ce] - this module has been updated with new templates for the Nova profile theme to make it easier to install (look in jamroom/modules/jrYouTube/themes/Nova)
[*:576479a5ce]The rest of the modules have all been updated with new thumbnail images and descriptive texts.

If anyone has any issues with the new releases, please let us know.

Thanks!

Jamroom 4.1.3 has been released!

I have just updated the Jamroom 4 Core downloads page with the latest release of Jamroom and add-ons - version 4.1.3:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

This new release adds some new features, as well as fixes some bugs that have come up since the Jamroom 4.1.2 release.

The "big" new feature in Jamroom 4.1.3 is the new Module Control panel. This is something that was initially targetted for the 4.1.0 release, but just wasn't quite finished at the time. This new Jamroom Modules section in the control panel will allow you to enable and disable Jamroom modules, as well as change any of the module settings. There are some new fields that can be added in to a Jamroom module to take advantage of the new layout, and new versions of all of the modules provided by us (Talldude Networks) will be uploaded shortly. The Module Developer guide will also be updated, as 3rd party module developers will want to update their modules to support the new fields (although they will still work without changes in the new module control panel, it just won't look as "nice").

A full list of changes can be found in the Tracker:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_tracker&o=browse&v=4.1.3

If anyone runs into any issues with the 4.1.3 release, please let us know in the Jamroom Help forum and we can assist.

I hope you all enjoy the new release!

I just updated the Jamroom 4 Core Downloads page with the latest release of Jamroom and add-ons - version 4.1.2:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

This release mainly addresses the Signup issues that several users have been encountering, as well as addresses a few other issues that have come up since the release of Jamroom 4.1.1. For a full list of changes, make sure and check out the Jamroom Tracker:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_tracker&o=browse&v=4.1.2

If you are upgrading to Jamroom 4.1.2, [b:f1d19e7a70]please make sure[/b:f1d19e7a70] you check out each Jamroom Quota's Signup Settings after you upgrade - in Jamroom 4.1 the signup options have been moved to the quotas to allow multiple signup quotas, but this requires that you validate and save your settings after upgrading.

If anyone has any questions or runs into any issues, please let us know.

I hope you enjoy the new release!

I know that it has only been 3 days since the initial Jamroom 4.1.0 release, but a few bugs have come up that warranted a quick update since they were causing issues in both the Nova and Flashback themes, and would prevent several sections of those themes from working properly.

I have just added the latest 4.1.1 releases to the downloads page:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

and changesets have also been uploaded to the Change Set generator:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Change

Detailed changes can be found in the Jamroom Tracker:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_tracker&o=browse&v=4.1.1

If you are using the Nova or Flashback profile theme, these changes should fix up these initial issues that have been reported.

If anyone has any questions or sees any additional issues, please let us know.

Thanks!

After 8 weeks of solid development, I'm happy to announce that Jamroom 4.1.0 has been released!

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

This new release adds many new features, fixes and changes that have been requested by the Jamroom community since the release of Jamroom 4. Kyle and I worked hard to get as many tweaks and enhancements in as we could - our initial goal was to only implement a few extra features, but like usual, once we got into the code it was hard not to work in as many new features as we could ;)

What's new in Jamroom 4.1.0:
[list:c8a79faf45]
[*:c8a79faf45]A new Bounced Email handler tool is now part of the Newsletter Manager, making the removal of bounced email addresses easy.
[*:c8a79faf45]Several new features in the Jamroom Ranking System - exclude_area, exclude_string, search_min and search_max parameters making it easier to create more detailed lists from the Ranking System.
[*:c8a79faf45]New "Simple Vault" setup for songs/videos/photos making it so Jamroom will simply re-use the uploaded HIFI/Video/Photo file for the Vault file. The only vault field that shows on the media create/modify form once enabled is Price.
[*:c8a79faf45]The Jamroom Signup System has been reworked - options have now been mostly moved into the Quota settings (with a few general ones in the Jamroom Config -> Account Settings). The Jamroom Skins have also been updated to work with the new setup so there is no more editing of signup templates needed to make new Quotas work with the signup system.
[*:c8a79faf45]Users can now change their Profile Name if you allow it in their Jamroom Quota.
[*:c8a79faf45]The Jamroom Invitations have been updated so a User can now invite another user to manage their profile along with them - this allows bands to invite each of their band members to join their profile without the master admin having to manually assign the User Accounts to the existing band profile.
[*:c8a79faf45]TurboDBAdmin has been replaced with the much more streamlined "Adminer" database admin tool. TurboDBAdmin was no longer being supported by the developers.
[*:c8a79faf45]The Nova skin/theme has a new set of really nice custom Flash Players developed by DS Players exclusively for Nova.
[*:c8a79faf45]Brand new Flashback Flash players from DS Players as well.
[*:c8a79faf45]AlertPay merchant support has been added to the Payment Pack.
[*:c8a79faf45]Plus dozens of more features, fixes and enhancements, as well as new Jamroom Module API enhancements.
[/list:u:c8a79faf45]
Our primary goal with Jamroom 4.1.0 was to make Jamroom easier to manage as a Jamroom site owner by automating more tasks, streamlining features and all around trying to make Jamroom do a better job of "taking care of itself". For a list of all changes, make sure and check out the Jamroom Tracker:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_tracker&o=browse&v=4.1.0

[b:c8a79faf45]Note:[/b:c8a79faf45] The FlowPlayer module is still in the works and will be released as soon as we can get it done. We're currently waiting for the FlowPlayer development team to return from a vacation so we can work with them on some last minute issues we've run into during our testing, so hang tight - it's coming ;)

I want to thank Kyle for his hard work on this new release, Douglas for his support while Kyle and I have been offline in dev mode over the last 8 weeks, and the Jamroom Beta team for their help in tracking down issues in this new release.

I'm very excited about this new release as I think the "core" of Jamroom 4 continues to increase in its flexibility and power, and it always brings a smile to my face when I see how many different ways Jamroom is being used, and the creative sites that you all have created using Jamroom.

I hope you enjoy the new release, and thank you all for your patience while we worked to get 4.1.0 out the door ;)

Thanks!

I have just uploaded a fresh round of Jamroom 4.1.0 test releases to the Jamroom 4 Test Releases page:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Test

There are a few more Module related features that have been worked in as Kyle and I wrap up any loose ends that may be left, so if everyone can please do some hard testing on this latest set of changed files, that would be great.
[list:f67320682e]
[*:f67320682e]The new custom Nova Flash Players from DS Players has been included - made specifically for the Nova profile theme, these look _really_ nice.
[*:f67320682e]The FlowPlayer [b:f67320682e]will not[/b:f67320682e] be in the initial Jamroom 4.1 release. I don't want to delay Jamroom 4.1 any longer waiting for everything to come together with this flash player - it's "almost" working, but there are still some issues I am working through with the developer, and they will not be back from a vacation for 2 more weeks, so integration is currently on hold until they get back. This will for sure be added as soon as possible, so it is coming, but after the initial 4.1.0 release.
[*:f67320682e]Module developers have some new power with custom flash player plugins, module custom playlists as well as custom module theme.cfg and template files - documentation on these new features will be available after the 4.1.0 release.
[/list:u:f67320682e]
I want to thank everyone for their patience while we get the last features and changes ironed out. Please let us know if you see any issues ;)

Thanks everyone!

I have just finished updating the Jamroom Test Releases page with the first available test releases of Jamroom 4.1.0:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Test

Please note that at this time these are [b:1f459aa971]testing releases![/b:1f459aa971]. There is quite a number of new changes, fixes and features in Jamroom 4.1.0, and we need to get as many people testing these new features as possible. Your "production" Jamroom site should [b:1f459aa971]not[/b:1f459aa971] be upgraded to this first testing release of Jamroom 4.1.0 - we want to make sure it is as stable as possible before you upgrade your "live" site. If you have a sandbox site, or are running the Jamroom VM, please help us test out testing this new release and let us know any issues you see.

Some notes:
[list:1f459aa971]
[*:1f459aa971]The Flow player is NOT part of this initial testing release. I am still working with the Flow Player developer to get everything working that we need in Jamroom - since they are located in Northern Europe, the back-and-forth can take a full day sometimes, so it is going a bit slower then I hoped. However, the Flow Player is [b:1f459aa971]extremely[/b:1f459aa971] configurable, so if you are thinking of something unique you want to do with the player, it's probably doable. The challenge on our end is to make all of that "power" accessible without it being overly complicated, so that's something we're still working on.
[*:1f459aa971]A new set of Nova Players will also be included along with the Flow Player - these are custom players designed by DS Players specifically for Nova, and are really nice.
[/list:u:1f459aa971]
Other then that, please ,make sure and check out the Jamroom Tracker for all of the new features:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_tracker&o=browse

New features include:
[list:1f459aa971]
[*:1f459aa971]New "simplified" Vault setup, making it so the user only has to upload 1 file if they want to sell it.
[*:1f459aa971]More powerful invites that allow a user to invite another user to become part of their profile - this allows the creation of user controlled groups
[*:1f459aa971]Revamped signup system so you no longer have to modify templates to show new signup quotas
[*:1f459aa971]AlertPay merchant processor support in the Payment Pack
[*:1f459aa971]New bounced email processing
[*:1f459aa971]New Sentbox settings to make it so the admin's sentbox doesn't get overwhelmed with sent notes, by only showing notes that the admin actually sent manually, and excluding system generated private notes
[*:1f459aa971]Plus a TON more small features, tweaks, fixes and improvements
[/list:u:1f459aa971]

There's a ton of new stuff, and many new features that have been requested over the past 6 months or so - Kyle and I have been coding like crazy ;)

Please let us know on this thread any issues you encounter, or any feedback you have on the new features.

We hope you enjoy Jamroom 4.1!

Jamroom 4.1 Development Update

Well - things are cooking along pretty well here at the "Jamroom Labs". Kyle and I have been busy working in new changes, cleanups and tweaks for Jamroom 4.1, and development is proceeding at a good pace. I'm anticipating the first "testing" release of Jamroom 4.1.0 will be out within a week, with full release by the end of August or the early part of September (barring any "show stopper" type issues).

So far we have the following worked in to Jamroom 4.1:
[list:dd3e3d2e0c]
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]Flow Player flash player integration into {jr_flash_player} - right now we are working on template updates for Nova to integrate the new player. There is also a new Jamroom Flow Player module that will be released along with Jamroom 4.1.0.
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]AlertPay payment Support - Kyle has wrapped up development of a new merchant plugin for "Alert Pay" for the Jamroom Payment System
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]The Jamroom Config -> Signup Settings section is now gone, with most of the signup options moved into the Jamroom Quota config, and a few moved into the Jamroom Config -> Account Settings section.
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]Bounced Email handling has been added as a tool to the Newsletter Manager
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]A new template variable modifier called "jr_reply" has been created that allows you to embed Twitter like "@" signs in posts, action updates, etc. - so when you type something like @Sample_Band, Jamroom will automatically create a link to that profile.
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]The Ranking System has been updated with several new parameters: search_min, search_max, exclude_area and exclude_string - these will allow you to create even more targeted listings using the Ranking System.
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]You can now define the hour of the day that daily maintenance runs on, as well as launch the maintenance from cron.
[*:dd3e3d2e0c]Plus more small tweaks, fixes and improvements.
[/list:u:dd3e3d2e0c]
Things are looking good so far - I'm excited to get Jamroom 4.1 into everyone's hands so they can start playing with it.

Feel free to post any questions you might have about Jamroom 4.1 in this thread and we'll do our best to answer ;)

Thanks everyone!

I can't believe it has been 6 years since Jamroom 1.0b1 was released - I think in "Internet years" that has to be close to a century ;) (or at least sometimes it feels like that!)

For those that may not have seen it, on Jamroom's 4th birthday I linked up some screenshots of Jamroom 1.0:

http://www.jamroom.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14548

It's come A LONG ways since the "old days" - we've seen a huge explosion in the number of social media sites, with no apparent slow down on the horizon. With Jamroom 4.1 coming out soon as well, Jamroom is continuing to grow and evolve, so we're looking forward to many more years to come.

We'd like to thank everyone for a fantastic 6 years - we're looking forward to supporting and expanding Jamroom for many more to come!

Thank you!

Jamroom 4.0.14 has been released!

I have just finished updating the Jamroom 4 Core downloads page with the latest release of Jamroom, version 4.0.14:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

This latest releases addresses issues that have come up since the release of Jamroom 4.0.13, as well as enhances and changes a few things:
[list:d3618dea4d]
[*:d3618dea4d]In the Nova Profile theme, the profile forum no longer loads via AJAX which will allow direct links to posts, as well as better indexing by search engines.
[*:d3618dea4d]The Payment Pack has been updated with a new email that is sent to a user when they make a vault purchase with a pending eCheck - it lets them know their vault item won't be added to their "My Files" section until the payment clears.
[*:d3618dea4d]The "image" grab in the Jamroom Jukebox has been disabled due to a new API that Amazon.com has rolled out - it would require too much configuration on the users (your) end to support well, so we'll be looking into alternatives. Note that Amazon.com will be disabling the image grab on August 15th.
[*:d3618dea4d]Jamroom should run without issue on the recently released PHP 5.3.0 - a few changes were required due to PHP 5.3.0 breaking some compatibility with older functions, but these were small and easily worked around.
[/list:u:d3618dea4d]
I want to thank Kyle for his hard work on this new release - we've got a good system in place here that is going to really help with the Jamroom 4.1 development. With that said, this release will the [b:d3618dea4d]last release in the Jamroom 4.0.x line[/b:d3618dea4d] (barring any unforeseen critical problems) - we're focusing 100% on Jamroom 4.1.0 now, and any outstanding issues that crop up in Jamroom 4.0.14 will be addresses in 4.1.0.

We hope you enjoy using the new version!

Thanks!

Jamroom 4.1 Development Kick Off

With the summer (at least in the northern hemisphere) upon us, and Jamroom's 6th birthday rapidly approaching (on July 28th), we're gearing up here to begin the Jamroom 4.1 development process. I'm really excited for this new release, as Jamroom 4 is really maturing into a great core to build upon, and we've seen an increasing number of developers beginning to offer additional features with Jamroom modules.

The Jamroom 4.1 release is NOT going to be a huge release from a feature standpoint. Our goal with Jamroom 4.1 is to:
[list:a4769ec0a1]
[*:a4769ec0a1]Enhance the existing tools and features by making them more robust, and adding missing features (such as email bounce handling, etc.).

Overall our goal is to make the day to day running of Jamroom easier and more robust. We also know that many of you in the Jamroom community have great ideas, so please feel free to add your ideas to the post here - some of them will probably already be scheduled for addition in to Jamroom 4.1, but if not, and it's something we feel we can work in, then it might just make it ;)

As Kyle and I get our heads down in the code, we'll also be able to provide a more detailed list in the future of the changes coming, as we'll find out just what is going to work (and what may not work).

I'm super excited to kick of the 7th year of Jamroom with new ideas for a new release!

Thanks everyone!

I am pleased to announce that Kyle has agreed to join the Talldude Networks team in a full time position as a Jamroom Developer!

Many of you have known Kyle for some time, as he has always provided a lot of help here on the Jamroom User Support forums, and "officially" his role was forum and ticket support. He also would occassionaly take on a Jamroom related project for a customer.

Over the last few years, Kyle has rapidly progressed in his knowledge of web development, especially PHP programming, and I'm super excited to have him joining in now as a full time developer. Kyle will be initially working with me on the upcoming Jamroom 4.1, as well as bug fixes and general PHP support for all projects (Jamroom and add-ons + modules).

Thank you (and congratulations) Kyle!

Jamroom Mobile Module 1.0.0 has been released!

I have just updated the Jamroom Marketplace with the first non-beta release of the Jamroom Mobile Module - version 1.0.0:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_market&o=browse&category=Jamroom+4+Modules

This new release contains a single bug fix, plus a new feature:
[list:57fac76c98]
[*:57fac76c98]the jrMobile module was incorrectly counting the "streams" from mobile devices as downloads - this has been fixed.
[*:57fac76c98]a new "agents.php" file has been included that allows you to add/remove USER_AGENT strings from the module. The USER_AGENT string is what the module uses to allow/deny access to the module for mobile devices and non-mobile devices, so this gives the site owner the flexibility to allow or deny additional handsets, etc.
[/list:u:57fac76c98]
If anyone has any questions about this initial release, please let us know. If you have suggestions for improvements to the module, please feel free to post in the Suggestions forum, and we'll check it out.

I hope you enjoy using the new release!

p.s. for those that have not picked up a copy of the Jamroom Mobile module, until the end of the month (June) it will be 10% off the normal price of $39 - you can pick it up until then for only $35.

Jamroom 4.0.13 has been released - important!

I have just finished updating the Jamroom Downloads page:

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

with the latest release of Jamroom + add ons, version 4.0.13.

I apologize for this release coming out so quickly, but it was important that this be handled today, due to a serious licensing dispute between us and the developer of the Jeroen FLV media player. Specifically they have informed us that the unlimited commercial license we purchased a year ago is no longer valid for the version 4.x of the player, and it would need to be removed from our product. I disagree with their assertion that it does not cover version 4 of the player, but that's something that we will take care of. As it is, [b:db52359810]going forward we will no longer be supporting the use of the Jeroen version 4 player in Jamroom.[/b:db52359810] Even if we were to somehow acquire a license for version 4 of the player, it will not be included into Jamroom due to their treatment of us as a customer.

I am working hard to find a new (better) flash player that will be used in Jamroom to replace the Jeroen 4 player.

As it is, the Nova and JamTube skins have been updated to use the Jeroen 3 player - once we fully integrate a new player into Jamroom, they will again be updated to support the new player.

I want to apologize to everyone for the hassle that this might cause you, but I believe it is the best in the long run for Jamroom, and the new player we are currently looking at appears to be more flexible and powerful then the Jeroen player, and in the long run will suit us better.

[b:db52359810]important[/b:db52359810] - if you are currently using the Jeroen 4 flash player on your site, and want to continue doing so, you will need to purchase a Commercial license for your domain from longtail video. As much as I regret sending any business their way, my primary concern is for your site and business, and I want to let you know that this would be required to continue using the Jeroen 4 FLV player. The Jeroen 3 FLV player included in the Jamroom Power Pack is fully licensed, and can be used without any compensation to long tail video.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to let me know, and I will do my best to answer them. At this time I don't think it would be prudent to discuss any of the details of their accusations other then to say I am 100% confident they are false.

Thanks everyone!

http://www.jamroom.net/Downloads4_Core

This new release brings in several new features, as well as dozens of fixes and small changes:
[list:719bccd776]
[*:719bccd776]9 new image filters have been included: http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_tracker&o=view&id=1491
[*:719bccd776]new "Mode Hooks" for Jamroom module developers has been introduced (documentation in the Module Developer Guide is forthcoming)
[*:719bccd776]a new PHP Profiler system for module developers has been included: http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_tracker&o=view&id=1480
[*:719bccd776]The Nova community forum now has direct URLs to topics - it no longer loads via AJAX
[*:719bccd776]The Nova skin config (Nova.cfg) has been udpated with new settings to make it easy to change to a different Flash player, as well as manipulate the colors of the Jeroen flash player.
[*:719bccd776]The Page Protect tool now works across cluster servers
[*:719bccd776]Profile themes now load the proper skin config file even if the associated skin is not the "active" skin - this should allow for better mixing and matching of profile themes and skins (i.e. I'm hopeful you can now use the Nova profile theme with a different skin, etc.)
[/list:u:719bccd776]
Plus a lot more tweaks and bug fixes. Check out the Jamroom Tracker for a full list of changes:

The Jamroom Geo Locate module has been released!

I have just updated the Jamroom Marketplace Modules section with a new [b:f9fc6a255e]FREE Jamroom Module[/b:f9fc6a255e] - jrGeoLocate:

http://www.jamroom.net/index.php?m=td_market&o=browse&category=Jamroom+4+Modules

This new module allows you to get the approximate location of the viewing user based on a lookup of their IP Address. The module is super easy to install (simply unzip it into your Jamroom directory), and once installed you'll have access to a new Template function called {jr_geo_locate}:

 http://www.jamroom.net/Jamroom4_jr_geo_locate

Which can be embedded into any Skin template. Make sure and check out the linked document for the different options you can use.

If anyone has any questions about the new module, feel free to post here, otherwise I hope you find it useful!

Thanks!
