In here though, a couple of awesome sky shots while I was in the top of the South for work, and I was invited on a fun kayaking mission in Lytelton Harbor in Christchurch. We paddled out to Quail Island for lunch and a walk.

Some healthy stuff, with food, and I smacked my shin while practicing Parkour.

The highlight of the month though, was the snowboard trip for 4 nights around Castle Hill. The club fields around this area are awesome, Porters Heights, Broken River, Craigieburn and Mt Cheesman.

I saw the title of this post as a search term for some visitors to my website. This is the big question at the moment. Lots of people want to plan their futures based on what has happened, and what might happen.

First, New Zealand is a big fault line, the edge of the Pacific and Indo-Australian Plates. We are made up of volcanoes, we have built around, on and in these volcanoes.

Knowing where we live is important so we can be prepared for what may happen. The New Zealand Government spends a lot of money on campaigns for Natural Disasters. Being prepared is the first thing we should be.

There is only so much we can do though. An earthquake can strike at any time, and if you are “in the wrong place at the wrong time“, you may experience much more than others. This is the risk of life. When walking or driving to work, due to something you have no control over, you may experience unforeseen, unpredictable things.

This brings me to the Moon Man, Ken Ring and all the noise John Campbell has raised about the 20 March 2011 prediction. If we do our best to be prepared as best we can, then no matter what any person says, we can listen and take heed without being herded like sheep into an extreme state of fear or disregard.

To make a prediction, is to foretell the future.

I watch the weather forecasters regularly for my daily and future activities. I have noticed that sometimes, they are on the money, other times, they can be days out or completely wrong.

Can someone predict an earthquake? I have seen people do it, watch this video, jump to 4min 50secs and he speaks of an earthquake for Christchurch, posted on the 15 February 2011. Yes, he was a day out.

Both parties are predicting, trying to foresee what has not happened. Both of them do their best based on the information gathered and experience. Neither of them get it right all the time.

If you are worried about the earthquakes that New Zealand has had and will have, then maybe you are best to move to somewhere like Australia where earthquakes are reasonably unlikely. But they have their own challenges too.

For now, be prepared. No matter where you live. This provides peace of mind now and in the event. Knowing you have a Plan B, knowing your family have a Plan B, is the best action you can have, no matter what the prediction is.

Be prepared.
Peace
I was here for this one, standing outside watching the world wobble.

Click the image to view a great chart of earthquake stats.

The severity of what happened didn’t hit me until Saturday 26 Feb. We went to help a friend move house and we had to drive from the West side to the East side of Christchurch. It was amazing, the sand all over the streets, the massive sink holes that you can fit cars in, and being able to see the tops of the city centre buildings and how damaged they are.

It is going to be interesting times for the next couple of years here in New Zealand. Socially, Economically, Politically.

People have left Christchurch to try and escape the earthquakes, even though New Zealand is one big fault line. Last night, 1 March 2011 at 10:07pm, they had a 4.5.

Economically, it is also going to be very interesting as the cost of this quake has not only shut down the centre of Christchurch for months, but the rest of New Zealand will also feel the effects, most likely at least through a tax.

Politically, both of the above are going to be drivers as to what happens with the politics.

Food for thought:

“An earthquake achieves what the law promises but does not in practice maintain – the equality of all men.” ~Ignazio Silone

For many, the earthquake reminds us what is important. How long will we practice those things that are important before we go back to our day dreams?

Peace,

On Saturday, 4th September 2010 at 4:35am, Christchurch, New Zealand was hit with a 7.1 magnitude earthquake at a depth of 11km.

I was outside of Christchurch for the weekend with friends in Hanmer, but we still woke up to the shaking, unaware of the severity that Christchurch had was experiencing. We all went back to sleep thinking it was pretty normal.

Upon returning to Christchurch I experienced the reality of what had happened, being greeted by tears in the earth as I drove in on the Motorway, and the relentless aftershocks for the following week. Sleep became a valuable commodity as the “aftershocks” kept Christchurch on edge.

A Canterbury University student put together a great website using Google Maps showing a visual time lapse of the last week. http://www.christchurchquakemap.co.nz. In just over a week, we have had more than 490 earthquakes.

Good Times

A busy month was June 2009. I was busy doing an Intention Rice experiment, baking foods from whole food ingredients, and making Raw Foods for super yummy pot lucks.

Whole Foods Cookies

Intention Rice is a fun experiment that I learnt from watching a video about Dr. Emoto on water. It works on the the theory that we project our energy, and that we project different kinds of energy that have different effects. For example, I cooked up 1 pot of rice and split it into 3 jars.

I then placed those 3 jars on a piece of paper each on the same table and each with a label. The paper and labels read, “Love”, blank and “Hate”. Every day when I woke, and went to bed, I did the following with each jar.

The Love jar, I said, “I love you”, and sat and projected loving thoughts on to the jar.

I ignored the jar with the blank label.

And the Hate jar, I said, “I hate you”, and sat and projected hateful thoughts on to the jar.

As time went on the contents of each jar changed. It took about 6 weeks to have a real obvious difference, but it was worth it. The best sign that things were different was the smell. The love jar had a sweet smell, the blank jar that I neglected was not as pleasant, and the hate jar made you kick your head back, it smelt that bad.

This was a great experiment to show that we really do need to be concious about the thoughts we have. I plan on doing it again as it was lots of fun.

I have been working on updating the plugin and deciding on how best to move forward with it.

I have not implemented any of the features requested yet as they have required a little more time than I have had for them just yet. This release has the following updates:

# Override setting to force all posts to use a global “Apply to” setting
# On the edit posts page, the IMM-Glossary Settings are now in a dragable box
# On the admin pages, I updated and shifted the credit notice.

On my Todo list:

* Plural search
* Look at adding a WYSIWYG editor to term editor
* Term page, add ability to have anchors to each term or links to view terms on individual pages

Download:
