I took this picture of a clear blue sky this morning on my way to the office. I took it using my camera phone. I anticipated a hot day today it will be back then.

But it is cloudy right now, as at 1545 in the afternoon. Look like it is going to rain anytime soon. This has been the weather lately. It can be very hot in the morning, and the temperature suddenly drops after a shower in the late afternoon. It is very easy to suffer heatstroke with this kind of weather. Drink more waters, my friends!

Giant Crabs

I like to eat crabs. How about you? Besides, I also kill, clean and prepare crabs for cooking. If you love to eat crabs as much as I do, you should really pick up those skills too! Killing crabs is a pain especially if you are dealing with a giant one. My father in law passed to me 3 giant crabs last week, each weighing at least up to half a kilogram. I usually use chopstick to stab into its abdomen to kill a crab. I would say it takes a lot of your energy to overpower the strength of a giant crab in order to kill it.

Ferns caught my attention the other day. Ferns are one of the oldest plants on earth, with its first fossil record dated well back to 360 million years ago! Unlike most plants, ferns do not have either seeds or flowers. They reproduce via spores. Ferns do have stems, leaves and roots though. I took these close-up pictures of ferns in the garden of Rumah Ebo, a guesthouse I stayed in Bandung. How I would like to have a garden as green and as serene as this one! Growing ferns in your garden does make your garden looks greener, doesn’t it?

This is Batik Tree, a kind of tree I found in Mount Tangkuban Perahu, Bandung, Indonesia. The tree bark has natural batik patterns and the locals make beautiful handicrafts out of the tree. There are ash trays, pen holders and vases. I had bought a few small vases to bring home. If you are visiting Tangkuban Perahu in the near future, do look out for these Batik Trees, a must see for every visitors to Bandung.

I have a small garden in my backyard, where I plant all my fruit trees and flowers. I always like small garden as shown in the following picture.

This is Pek Yek, a traditional Sarawak pastry. A packet like this only costs RM 1. The main ingredients of Pek Yek are rice flour, fried peanuts and fried anchovies. The mixture is deep fried in oil until crispy. This packet of Pek Yek was brought to me all the way back from Oya, a small town in the central region of Sarawak. A present of love indeed! Trust me, the Pek Yek tastes extraordinarily crispy and delicious!

I brought my mom to see an acupuncturist last weekend. She fell down and broken her arm from climbing high. Am a Chinese myself, I have always put more trust on traditional Chinese medicine to heal injuries from falls, fractures, contusions and strains.

Acupuncture is a procedure of inserting and manipulating needles into various points on the body to relieve pain or for therapeutic purposes. I am interested as well as having high confidence in this traditional Chinese medicine practice although acupuncture remains controversial among modern medical researchers and clinicians.
