For those who have followed my blogging for a little while, you will recognize the Theme Playground name. Theme Playground was the WordPress blog I wrote before acquiring WPCandy this year. As of today, all of Theme Playground lives at WPCandy.

Cory Miller was the one to encourage me, and helped me choose the name of Theme Playground back in the day. It was launched in 2007 and was host to just over 200 posts about WordPress during its lifetime. Of course, Theme Playground will live on, contributing to the content of this site.

If you’re interested in browsing through the Theme Playground content that was moved over, most of it can be found from my author archive, the oldest 15 pages or so. It’s kind of fun to look through (and a bit nostalgic, at least for me).

PollDaddy announced today that they are introducing a File Uploads question type that can be included in surveys to capture photos, documents or other files from survey respondents. Once captured, photos will be viewable in survey reports and all files will be available for download. Regarding how the new question type will affect user experience, John Godley on the official PollDaddy blog wrote:

“We’ve tried to make this easy to use for your respondents, and once a file is uploaded it is remembered for the duration of the survey. If a respondent incorrectly completes a survey their existing uploads will remain in place while they correct any errors – there is no need to re-upload.”

TricksDaddy has released WP Perfect, a free two-column WordPress theme. The theme includes a 3-column widgetized footer, an author profile box below posts, a theme options page to control basic settings and describes itself as “SEO-optimized.” WP Perfect is designed to look both professional and simple and to load pages in a minimal amount of time. Brian Richards has posted on the Startbox blog that, for the month of September, $30 from each sale of the Startbox theme framework will be donated to charity:water. Startbox is participating in a charity:water campaign called ’30 Bloggers, 30 Days, $30,000′ which is attempting to raise $30,000 for the organization. The campaign has already raised nearly $3,000.

charity:water is a non-profit organization that raises money to bring “clean and safe drinking water to developing nations.” 100% of every donation to charity:water goes straight to water projects. Those who aren’t interested in purchasing the Startbox framework are encouraged to donate directly.

The amount and diversity of technology available today is unbelievable. Apple per se have made remarkable achievements over the years and today we are featuring iPad. To a certain extent, an iPad changes the tide of web designer’s routine. iPad enables the potential for designers to accomplish their task and project on time because it is a portable workstation that allows designers to work on the dot. With a touch of a your finger, the magazines apps springs into life and whats more, the pictures are vivid and it satisfy the sophisticated taste for every designer. CSSReflex reports that Markus Thömmes has released a PHP script called WordPress AdminPage Class. AdminPage Class is an option page framework that allows for quick development of custom WordPress option pages. The script is meant to handle saving and security issues thus freeing up a developer’s time to focus on building the actual option page.
