This is the real thing, an original Amazing Spiderman cover piece by Todd McFarlane himself. I was in the comic art, and toy collectable business for 35 years, and it is my opinion, based on empirical evidence of the number of people showing up to conventions, that Todd Mcfarlane is the single most popular comic artist ever (with all due respect to Jack Kirby, God bless him).

Todd McFarlane did only 26 issues of Amazing Spiderman. And I consider this cover the best of the lot (although 314 with both Greeen Goblin and Hobgoblin was real close).

I fully believe that this art will command at least $250,000 to $1,000,000 in the future. As far as investments go, you cannot go wrong with a one of a kind item. Original Cover Art that I sold for $300 TO $700 is going now for $5,000 to $7,000.

The art has two dates on it. On the side is December 4, 1986, and under Todd’s signature it says 89. Since his art was so great, it might have taken that much lead time to do it. I am uncertain of the date of the official comic release.

It is 10.5 inches by 17 inches lie almost all comic originals. It is in excellent condition. If you buy art from ebay, you know that the art always looks better in when you receive it in person, but I got the best pictures I could of it. It is off-white (which is because of the paper it was drawn on rather than aging). And it has four holes where I had put it up on the wall with push pins. Since there is only one of these in the world, I hope you don’t mind.

This is an absolutely beautiful comic! No restoration.

Overall, this is an extremely clean looking book. It is certainly worth more then I am willing to let it go for, but times are tough.

There are no serious spine-breaking stresses and no tears on the top or bottom edges either on the back or front of this absolutely beautiful book.

I am not a professional comic dealer, but I do not see any dust shadows on the back cover; All of my descriptions are consistent with the fact that the CGC Universal Grade people made absolutely no mention of any of the above issues that I have described as NOT contained on this book. Having said this, I am not a professional, but believe that a CGC Universal Grade of VF 8.0 speaks for itself. CGC notes a small indent at the bottom of the back of the spine.This book is being sold solely based on this objective grade system by CGC and will be sold "as is".

with light tan to off-white pages.

Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cleaned, reinforced, staples cleaned.
The restoration was done by Susan Cicconi in 1992.

Condition: Apparent Very Good PGX 4.5.
Superman's second issue is packed with early Action stories by Siegel and Shuster, and shows the Man of Steel in his earliest incarnation. This copy has a great feel to it, with no tears or missing pieces. Defects include tape running the length of the spine and soiling on the right area of the front cover. Restoration includes trimming along the right side, and three small spots of red color touch on the cover. The pages are very well-preserved, having an off-white to white appearance. Superman #3

This early issue of Superman has one of the most iconic and classic early images of Superman on the cover, ripping open a bank vault to free people who are trapped inside. This cover image was reprinted many times in the 40s and many times since, appearing on all kinds of merchandise.
The interior is also quite classic, featuring great early Siegel and Shuster stories from the period when Superman was truly taking the world by storm.

Attractive but lower grade copy. Small piece of tape at the top and bottom of the spine. Cover detached but held on by 4 extra staples (2 front, 2 back), 3" + 4" spine splits. Nice supple CREAM TO OFF-WHITE PAGES.
It could easily be restored to an excellent condition appearance but I will leave it to you to have that done or just keep and enjoy it as is

Some light pencil traced around the edges of Superman. Mainly seen when holding the book under a light.

This comic is complete, has no restoration or tape, has deep colors and some gloss, tight staples, and very light interior pages (about OWL 9.5.) 68 pages. Interior covers are darker, about OWL 6. Flaws include a spine split for the bottom inch and the top 1/4". There are 2 tiny pieces out of the spine (1/8"), one piece 1/8" x 1/4" and at the top, a 1/4" diameter piece out. There are oxidation shadows top and right edge fc, and top back cover; within the shadow seems to be minor soiling. There are two tiny holes on the spine – it appears that a staple was removed. Might be first perry White. Superman #8

Note that a small plastic stabilizing peg is loose inside the CGC holder, not affecting the integrity of the holder or the comic itself. From the Aviator Collection.

Centerfold loose; bugs chewed a 1/2" piece off upper right corners of first 32 pages (no art affected); a 1" clean tear on mid-right edge and thru first 32 pages; slight spine roll; several small chips off spine and 2 small pieces of tape over them. Otherwise comic is TIGHT and VERY GOOD.
