Open up  your laptop by removing the screws from the bottom of it. Once all screws are removed, flip the laptop over and the keyboard should easily come out.  Disconnect the ribbon cable attached to the motherboard very carefully and lay it aside. This cable is very fragile so be extra careful with it. Unscrew the screws that you find on top. Remove the ribbon for your track bad and any other cables that are connected around palm rest area of the laptop. This area should now very easily come out, and you will now have access to the inside of your laptop.

Look at the heat sink and the fan inside of the laptop. Make sure it is not very dirty or dusty. If you do notice a large amount of dust build up, this can cause your laptop to overheat. Simply clean this out and your laptop should work like new again. You can use canned air to blow out the dust, and use a soft rag to wipe off the fan.

If you did not find very much dust, you can next look at the heat sink, which is located over the GPU and CPU.  You will need to remove these. Each laptop is different and you may have to remove the motherboard also. This is  not difficult to do. Make sure you know where everything goes for when you put it back together.

Once the  heat sinks are removed, you should clean the factory thermal compound from the processors, as well as the bottom of each heat sink. You can purchase a special cleaner that is made for removing this compound at any electronic store. Make sure all old compound is removed and all the components are completely clean.

Place a very small amount of thermal compound, which can also be purchased at any electronic store, on both the CPU and GPU. Spread the compound out very even and think over each of the chips.

Remount each  heat sink and make sure they are both properly tightened. There needs to be very good contact between the heat sink and chip for it to work properly.

Put your laptop back together and power it up. You should not have any type of heating problems.  If you still notice it overheating, you may need to have someone professional look at it for you.
