In the past few months, we have had a chance to review hundreds of applications available for iPhone. There are plenty of creative, 3D applications available on this platform, but the quality of music apps has been surprising to say the least. There are plenty of music apps that let you play your favorite instruments on your phone and have fun day in and day out. iGOG: Massive Drums is one of those apps.

iGOG is a cool virtual drum machine that features 384 multisampled drum hits per pad. It may not be the real thing, but the sound certainly comes close. iGOG takes advantage of a patent pending technology (VelAucity) that makes this app more responsive to your touch. The fun thing about this app is that the harder you strike the pads, the louder the drum hit will be. Of course, you don’t want to touch the pad too hard for obvious reasons (VelAUcity is not available for iPod Touch).

iGOG also supports air drumming as you can take advantage of Mic Triggering mode to turn object sounds to drum sounds. I could explain to you how the app works, but nothing would do this app justice than you seeing it in action:

You get 6 free drum kits with this app, and you can purchase more through the interface. You can also load your own material by uploading a wav, air, or gog files. The built in sequencer is fun to play with as it give you yet more options to customize iGog. And who can forget about the built-in file transfer mode that lets you share files between the app and your computer easily. All in all, if you are into drumming, this is one app you should try.

In case you haven’t noticed, your iPhone 3GS is a pretty decent mobile camcorder. It’s capable of capturing fairly decent videos on the road. Now you can always capture videos, transfer them to your computer, and do a heavy edit job on them. But if you want to make movies from your videos on your phone, there is an app for that.

ReelDirector lets you combine your scattered videos and make a movie out of them fast. You can easily drag and drop your video clips and stitch them together to make your movie. ReelDirector also allows you to add watermarks to your work. So whether you are looking to add a credit section to your work or put a magnetic title on your movie, you can do it easily with ReelDirector.

You can also use ReelDirector to add transitions between your videos to give a more professional look and feel to your final video product. Three are 27 transitions to choose from, so you have got some real good options there. Here are a few transitions available in this app:

I found the interface to be very easy to get used to. The app is very capable for its purpose. It doesn’t give you too many options as let’s say Adobe Premiere, but it does enhance your phone’s video editing capability. It’s certainly worth a try for video junkies.

What I like about Good Reader is that it makes it easy to transfer files to your iPhone via Wi-Fi. You can also use it with MobileMe iDisk to manage your documents more effectively on your phone.

Good Reader is a decent PDF viewer as well. Sure, it’s fast but it also helps you search through your docs, take advantage of PDF links, and zoom in on your document by 50x. All in all, if you are looking for a fast PDF reader to go through your personal or business documents on the go, Good Reader is a decent reader to try.

I don’t know about you but I was always a big fan of geometry and trigonometry problems when I was in school. They can certainly help keep you sharp and improve your problem skills. But these topics are not easy for everyone to tackle, which is where Trigonomics comes in handy. It’s an innovative problem solver that helps you solve those triangle problems, understand sin(x) and cos(x) relationships, and graph trigonometric functions right on your phone.

The Triangle Solver is perhaps the most impressive feature in this app. It can help you solve those triangle problems in a flash. It will also tell you if the numbers you have inserted can’t work for a triangle.

Trigonomics’ graphing capability is fun to play with as well. Besides, you can learn a thing or two about the relationship between all these functions by taking a look at all these graphs. You can always turn off the functions that you don’t want to show up on your graph.

In summary, Trigonomics is a very easy to use application that can be very helpful for high school students and math fans alike. It can save you time if you have a triangle problem on your hands. The app is not as sophisticated as Matlab, and it’s not intended to be. But it can save you time whether you are a student or an engineer.

iPhone may be a great smart-phone with lots of cool capabilities, but what I love about it the most is the fact that it lets me manage my tasks and stay on the right track whether I am at home, in office, or on the road. List Manager! is one of the most popular apps on iTunes that lets you create lists and use them to keep yourself on track at all times.

List Maker is not your average list app for iPhone. It’s very flexible and lets you create grocery, to-do, movie, workout, gift, music, and all kinds of other lists for that matter. You have the option to define what type of information you want to store in your database and the app does the rest for you. I also like the fact that List Maker makes it so easy to define how much information you want to see on your screen.

All in all, List Maker is a very easy to use and flexible application that lets you create all kinds of lists on your phone to help you stay on the right track and get more done everyday. It’s like having a super flexible database management system in your pocket.

Barcode scanners are one of the most popular app categories on iPhone. These apps make it convenient to find out more about the items you are hoping to pick up by enabling you to scan UPCs and more with your iPhone camera. A few weeks ago, we reviewed a top paid bar code app for iPhone. A lot of you got back to us and suggested we should review pic2shop as well. Pic2shop has been around for a while, and while the earlier versions were nothing to write home about, the latest updates have made pic2shop to one fun bar-code app to own on iPhone.

I found the app very easy to work with. All you have to do is line up the red line across the barcode on your iPhone camera. The line turns green when the code is being red. Your images are stored and available for access in a future date. The app is certainly unique as it’s the first app capable of reading barcodes in video mode. That certainly makes things much more convenient.

The app is quite accurate when it comes to reading bar-codes. I also like the fact that most products you can find in stores are covered. pic2shop is certainly a spectacular bar-code scanner app for iPhone that is worth picking up. It’s free so there is no risk!

Puzzles are perfect time killers on iPhone. Whether you have some down time, or just want to take some time to sharpen your problem solving skills for a few minutes every day, puzzle iPhone games come in handy. Mercutio is one of those games. It’s a cool, simple game of matching discs that will test your ability to plan ahead and mix and match discs of different colors in a way that bags you the most points possible.

Here is how the game works. You have four different kinds of discs that you can put on the grid. You can only put them down in groups of 4 (horizontally, vertically, or in a 2*2 space). Your goal is to overlap your groups as much as possible to earn the most points. The game comes with 200 different levels, so you can keep playing until you run out of time. The game may sound simple on the surface, but you do need to think a bit to improve your score with every try.

Like most modern puzzle games for iPhone, Mercutio comes with an international high scores and social gaming features to help you have more fun on your phone. The game also saves your progress automatically, so you can always get back to it in the future without having to start the game from scratch. All in all, if you are looking for a simple, fun puzzle game to play on your phone, Mercutio is a nice one to try.

I found Tweetie 2 to be an upgrade worth considering. The interface is much more intuitive and the additional features make it much easier to get more done on Twitter. It’s tough to say whether Tweetie is the best Twitter client for iPhone, but it is definitely in the top 3.

I can’t say enough about Tweetie 2. It’s one great application for the iPhone platform. If you are a Twitter junkie like me, you are going to enjoy Tweetie. Who needs a Twitterpeek when you have Tweetie.
