Truth be told, I don't mind the greeting/passing of the peace during the service. But I'm also Presbyterian so it's pretty short and sometimes you're actually given a phrase to say "Peace of Christ be with you." I do think the symbolism of a community worshiping together is important, even if it's not our favorite part of the service. My extroverted wife likes it less than I do!

#6 is perfect :-). I'm so happy I now go to a church that doesn't have a greeting time. Lo and behold, after months of being able to sit quietly without that forced mini-social event, I now actually do speak with some of the people around me before and after church for a few minutes--and even enjoy it.

Before I came to this church, I was visiting different ones and had about decided the best thing to do was to conveniently go to the bathroom during the "pass the peace" time.

I enjoy reading the comments section of many blogs, and I was delighted by one extravert's comment. Someone actually got it and finally undertsood Psalm 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God." I've been quoting that verse to myself and others for the past six months!

I think your potential hypothesis is plausible. My mind starts thinking about what other variables might be affected by lattitude, and would there be any correlation between those variables and introvertedness if indeed there is enough substantiation for your hypothesis and other variables. The first variable that comes to mind is Vitamin D level.

I'm only 31 but I feel that Introversion is a deeper form of Wisdom than Extroversion - and I feel that the Modern church caters for Extroverts, whereas the High Church caters for Introverts!! My Introversion has taught me soooo much wisdom about life, about not taking anything or anyone for granted, and that is the result of the crippling Shyness which paralysed me earlier in life. So yes, Introversion can often be a phase into which people grow after they become more wise, even if they started off as Extroverts! :-)
