One of the benefits of having a blog is that it offers tremendous search engine optimization capability. Search engines spiders look for new content constantly and as a blog owner, you’re hopefully publishing new content on a regular basis. However, if you’re not utilizing the search engine features your blog provides then you could be missing some valuable traffic. WordPress is the most used blog format and it offers some of the most functional SEO plugins. Here’s are 5 WordPress SEO plugins and how to use them.

1.All in One SEO Pack

The All In One SEO Pack is perhaps the mack daddy of the plugins. It covers the basics and lets you set page titles, meta tags, keywords, and descriptions automatically. It covers the elemental but extremely necessary SEO functions every blog should have. The Platinum SEO Pack offers much of the same features and functions and adds 301 redirects and a few other functions to the package.

2.SEO Smart Links

This easy to use plugin can automatically link keywords and phrases in your posts and comments with corresponding posts, pages, categories and tags on your blog. This is valuable because your internal linking structure is one of the key elements search engines look for when analyzing and ranking your website. Manually creating these internal links takes hours of your valuable time. SEO Smart Links does it automatically.

3.SEO Friendly Images

Search engines don’t analyze graphics however, they do analyze the meta data in your graphics. Because images often plan an important role in blog posting, if your images are not optimized your missing potential traffic. SEO Friendly Images enables you to tag your images correctly so the search engines recognize them and include them in your ranking.

4.Google Positioner

This great plugin actually tells you which keywords are getting searched for on your blog. This is a great analytics tool because it’ll help you hone in on the most popular and useful keywords for your readers. Thus enabling you to focus on what they are searching for. This plugin coupled with Google Analytics empowers you to have all the information you need to make strategic business decisions.

5.SEO Slugs

This plugin removes common words like ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘in’ from post slugs to improve search engine optimization. For example, “How to Optimize Your Blog For the Search Engines” becomes “Optimize Blog Search Engines” Thus making it more effective with the search engines and generating better ranking for you. And the slug is generated once you save your post so if you want to change it, you can manually change it to fit your search engine needs.

Blogging offers a number of benefits to build your business and one of the most important is improving your SEO. Take advantage of the powerful Plugins WordPress has to offer and get started optimizing your blog today.

When businesses write articles that are related to their industry and have them published it is a type of advertising which is called ‘Article Marketing’. All the articles published online carry a “byline” or a “bio box”. A byline or a bio box gives the reader contact information and references to the writer and his business. Therefore, an article which is well written is distributed for free. Once the article is read by the online readers, the credibility of the author will increase, in turn attracting new customers to the author of the article and the business he advertises.

In print form, the business owner can obtain free press space, and get his business recognized at no cost. Many business professionals have been using the technique of article marketing ever since mass printing started.

Business owners started article marketing by writing an article that was useful and gave it to a newspaper without being charged by the newspaper. Traditional media and especially newspapers had limited budgets, yet they had to provide content. So the newspaper for example, which needs interesting and new content, would print the article, free of charge, along with the business contact information for the article. This arrangement was quite advantageous for both parties, who had limited budgets, since both parties would benefit from free advertising and marketing. Prior to tax season an accounting firm could write an article on “How to Avoid Getting Audited” and submit it to a magazine or a printed newsletter that focused on accounting and taxation. A roofing company could send in an article to a local newspaper right before the winter season begins, entitled “10 Ways to Avoid Ice Damage to Your Roof.”

With the rise of internet marketing and e-commerce, online article marketing has become the preferred method and is quite popular among many businesses. Article writing and marketing has acquired a dual role – providing free content for publishers and providing free advertising for advertisers, much like what was being done with newspapers and magazines before.

Websites where authors post their articles are called ‘Article Directories’. A directory owner will place advertising material on each page of the article and will collect the revenue that is generated from the advertisements. In turn that specific article directory website will gradually become popular amongst the search engines, and so not only will more authors post articles on that site, but more readers will also visit that site. That means the chances of an article being read and the link provided being clicked upon get maximized, all in favor of the business that initially posted the article.

Working at home can be exhausting for a mom, and breaks might be rare. But you might work from home because you need the extra money and can’t afford to take breaks. But you can create breaks within the context of work.

Let’s look at this further. What we mean is that you can still work your full-time WAHM job, but add something in to break the monotony, or perhaps bring in extra money for holidays or to fill in a gap when your industry slows down temporarily.

These jobs likely won’t net you full-time income, but they are fun and interesting alternatives from the everyday work that you might be burnt from.

Letter writers

At Christmas, many WAHMs make extra money by writing letters from Santa. These can be postmarked from the “North Pole” or they can be on special paper or they might include special treats from Santa. You can build a quick website and market it to other moms who might be interested in their child or children getting a letter from Santa.

There are also websites that specialize in writing letters for people who can’t do it themselves or who want to present a more polished image than their own writing might provide.

Cake bakers

Many at-home moms turn into amateur bakers for weekend gatherings, from birthday parties to weddings. If you can bake well and can learn, or know, the art of cake decorating, you can make extra money at home selling decorated cakes.

This can be a nice break from your regular WAHM job, especially if your regular job is a solitary or sedentary affair. Making and decorating cakes can be creative, offering a nice respite from the demands of a less creative job.

Mystery shopping

If you miss being out and about while working your WAHM job, you might want to pick up a mystery shopping job now and then. These can be quick (taking less than an hour) but can net you a few dollars and sometimes free products. Look online for mystery shopping companies that provide services to the kinds of business you would like to shop – you might do mystery shops at restaurants, apartment complexes or cell phone kiosks.

Sell products

While many moms make a full-time living as consultants selling everything from skincare products to food, you can do it on a part-time basis and work when you need some variety or extra cash.

If you decide to sell items as a part-time gig, make sure you read the fine print carefully of the company you sign up with. Some have minimum requirements you must meet on a monthly or quarterly basis. Make sure that even on a part-time basis you can meet that minimum requirement.

Go outside the house

Working at home might be what you have always wanted to do and you are happy with all that it brings to your life. But you might have a desire to get out more. There are always options for very part-time jobs that serve you well in some way. For example, if you are a fitness freak, you might work just a few hours a week at the gym, netting you not only some extra money but likely a break on your gym fees. You might work just during the holidays at a department store.

The key to creating a WAHM arrangement that works for you is to work through any challenges you might face working at home. Picking up a now and then extra job might be the key to keeping yourself happy working at home.

You could walk into a room full of Twitter users and ask the question “What is Twitter?” The likely reaction would be a room buzzing with any possible number of responses. Not because these different people don’t know a thing about Twitter. Quite the contrary as a matter of fact, Twitter is so multi-functional all of the responses are true to each and every person’s own experience. Let’s look at some of those different uses. Twitter is…

> …a miniature blog. Not all people wish to blog in long posts. They would rather just provide people with a tiny one or two lined update of what is going on throughout their day. Blog posts often take a lot of forethought and creativity, whereas with Twitter you can just post something along the lines of “eating supper then taking kids to soccer.” The maximum number of characters in your Twitter posts is 140.

> …an outlet for making new friends. You can search for people with similar interests or hobbies, and request to follow them. They then decide if they will allow you to or not. This is the one spot you are urged to use with caution, however. If the “follower” causes any discomfort or actually seems to be “following” you too closely, it may be prudent to block them from following you.

> …news on the run. If you watch the news on television, normally there is a news ticker rolling across the bottom of your screen. This is where the headlines are posted throughout the broadcast. With more people using the internet for obtaining their news information, a ticker such as the one found on television was needed for internet users. This just happens to be another great use for Twitter. The news media of the internet has embraced Twitter as the news ticket of the blogosphere, as it is more immediate and faster than blog services.

> …social messaging, being somewhat of a cross between a blog and instant messaging. With this resource we are now able to follow people as well as have people follow us. Even via your cell phone, you can still keep up to date with all Twitter members. It can be used to let people know where you are so you can meet up later in the evening, remind people of a meeting at the office or even keeping your friends up to date on sales, sports events or concerts coming up.

So, you know that Twitter is like a miniature blog. Do you realize what this could mean to your small business? You can now make sure everyone on your team is “following” or receiving updates from one another. You can send messages or “tweets” to one employee or all of them. You can create different aliases depending on the area of the business is involved if you wish (sales, inventory, website etc.). You can decide to send messages to your entire staff, or just certain members to which this particular situation applies as well.

With this micro-blogging tool, you can be accessible to all of your employees when they need you, and vice versa. Handy and versatile, are you ready to make running your business easier? And this is only a few of the many uses. You can also use it as a learning or teaching tool.

When we talk about real estate as in buying and selling land, location is the most important criteria to be considered. What role does location play when we talk about virtual real estate since what you are selling are domain names and websites and not houses and lots?

These two realms are one and the same in principle. Visibility is the key in any business although it may be used in different forms. The place you are selling must be in a populated area whether it is a real house you are trying to sell or a domain name. In virtual realty, you require lots of people to come see your site and not just a few. Only when the product is exhibited will it command interest. Now how do you do that exactly? Again, the same tactics used by successful realtors come into play here. It is all about how you promote the product you are selling. There are thousands of ways to promote a website or a domain name. Search engines and their various marketing tools can definitely help you here as long as you know the right way to use these resources.

Your domain name should be related to your keywords and the target market. It is always a good idea to have your domain name as part of your keyword. If you use the right play of words between your domain name and your keywords, you can expect to be placed among the right search results and receive quality scores from search engines thereby pulling in targeted visitors. This way your requirement of gaining exposure is taken care of. Where the domain names and keywords match, the right combination is created for a better search result to appear and better visibility is therefore obtained.

When this happens, you only do not get to promote and sell whatever product you are selling on your site, but the importance of your virtual property is also elevated to a higher ground. You can then continue to benefit from its virtual location and as with land and houses, in due time, the value will also increase. If at all you do plan to sell it, you can be assured of a good income.

Now, what about those domain names you have acquired in the past for some particular purpose which has remained unfulfilled and which do not make money? These are by no means a dead investment. You can definitely make them work for you with the right marketing strategies and tactics that you would normally use with your active and profitable domain names. Use the power of search engine optimization (SEO) so the right kind of traffic is driven to the domain names that you are trying to awaken from deep slumber. Perhaps along the way, sometime, someone out there would be looking for exactly what you have and then you have the opportunity to drive a real hard bargain and make the most of your virtual investments.

Too many niche marketers have wild fantasies about making big money on the Internet almost overnight and give up in frustration when that doesn’t happen. Just look around at the sales pitches geared toward niche marketing and Internet marketers. Pitches that promise if you’ll only buy this program or ebook or report that you will make an enormous amount of money working only a few minutes a day. Hogwash!

Slow and Steady

The truth is it takes a while to build up a successful niche marketing business. It takes time and a lot of hard work. In fact, you’ll probably work harder and make less money than you did at your current or last job. In the beginning, that is. However, if you work hard and work smart, you can build up a successful niche marketing business that will pay you for years to come.

You may have very little website traffic in the beginning. You may be working 10, 12, or 14 hours a day for weeks and wonder why you bother when you are getting so little traffic. Often, however, it takes the search engines weeks to index new sites and this could be the case. Besides, you should be so busy optimizing your site the first few weeks and getting it ready for a steady flow of traffic that you don’t have time to be concerned that you haven’t made your first million yet.

Don’t Fall for every Internet Marketing Sales Pitch

Niche marketing is just another form of Internet marketing, although it is certainly one of the best forms. Be aware, though, that there are thousands of Internet marketers promoting thousands of products geared toward making you think you need their product in order to succeed as a niche marketer. Now, while there’s nothing wrong with taking a course, buying an ebook, or anything else that will offer you real guidance, don’t be swayed by every offer you come across. While you can make a living in niche marketing, stay away from any claims with outlandish and instant promises of wealth.

Educate Yourself

Niche marketing isn’t rocket science but it is still in its infancy on the World Wide Web and no one has all the answers. While you don’t have to have all the answers either, you should start your business with a plan of action. You can learn a tremendous amount about niche marketing for free on the Internet without having to buy a thing. You should also seek out blogs of other niche marketers to see how others are setting them up, what products they are offering, and what, if anything, is missing. In other words, do your research and educate yourself about the business of niche marketing.

Duplicate Your Success

The great thing about niche marketing is that once you find a measure of success, it’s easy to replicate that success by doing the same thing all over again. Pick another niche, set up another blog or website and position your product line. Once you find success with niche marketing, you’ll find that it is much easier the second time around. While you don’t want to have so many websites that you can’t give them the attention they deserve and update them regularly, anyone can manage a few easily.

Are you an internet marketer? Although you may not technically be employed as one, it is one of the many hats you will and should wear when working online. Do you run a website or blog that sells a product, service, or generates income through affiliate links? If so, you must double as an internet marketer. Why? Because marketing is vital to your success. After all, you will not generate income if consumers do not know you exist.

If you are new to internet marketing, you will turn to the internet for research. You will get many great ideas, including the use of article directory back links, buying advertisements on other sites, exchanging banners with other webmasters, and search engine optimization. These are important internet marketing steps, but to maximize your results, think outside-of-the-box. When you do, you will find Twitter.

Twitter is a social networking micro-blog. Users can communicate with each other through updates, also known as Tweets. Many Twitter members highlight their daily activities, but many also use updates to generate traffic to their websites or blogs and to increase sales. Straight up advertisements are allowed, as long as they do not qualify as spam. With that said, many find the best approach to be taking the roundabout way. If your sell a product or service, drop hints and highlight what you do or what you sell. Be sure to include a link.

As nice as it is to hear that you can use Twitter for internet marketing, as a newbie, you may have a few questions. Continue reading on for answers.

Question: Why use Twitter for internet marketing?

Answer: The better question should be why not. There are over 5 million members on Twitter.com. You will not communicate will all members, but it gives you an amazing opportunity to meet and network with others. By playing your cards right, you can find your targeted market. For example, do you work as a freelance web designer? If so, your target market is those who want to make money through affiliate links or business owners who want a professional website.

Question: How much time does Twitter take?

Answer: It all depends. Like any form of internet marketing, the time and energy you put forth depends on you. With Twitter, you want to take it slow and easy. If you create too many messages directing your followers to products you sell online, your messages may be considered spam. For that reason, send a few Tweets a day. Since Tweets are 140 characters or less, this is easy. The most time consuming part of Twitter is finding and adding contacts.

Question: What can be marketed on Twitter?

Answer: Just about anything. As previously stated, it doesn’t matter whether you sell a product, a service, or if you generate income through affiliate links, you can market yourself on Twitter. You can do so by sending carefully crafted updates. @replies can be sent to members on your list or those you find on Seach.Twitter.com. Look for members that ask questions you can answer. Always provide a link to your website or blog.

Question: Won’t people turn away from advertisements?

Answer: Yes. As previously stated, you want to carefully craft your Tweet messages and @replies. Don’t just say “Come shop at my online store.” Instead, send messages stating that you updated your store, got a new product in, or ask for feedback. Always provide a link and those interested will click, but without feeling forced into doing so.

Question: How much money can I make using Twitter?

Answer: It varies. Twitter is a service that is free to use. You are not paid for using it, but there is income potential. The first step is driving traffic to your website or blog, where you sell a product, service, or have affiliate links displayed. It is, however, important to have something good to sell. No matter how much traffic your generate, poor quality products and services will not sell.

If you tend to be like the majority of business owners in this day and age you are using Adwords to assist in the promotion of your venture. If this is the case, you likely have come to understand how helpful a well managed Adwords campaign can be to the profitability of your business. With that said, there are some factors that you need to keep in mind when it comes to staying on top of your Adwords campaign. Through this article you are provided an overview of these factors to assist you in maintaining the most effective Adwords campaign possible.

Many business owners who initiate an Adwords campaign develop the program in the first instance and then do very little else. In other words these business owners seem to believe that their Adwords program really ends up on automatic pilot.

The reality is that if you need to insure that your Adwords campaign remains completely effective into the future you need to make sure that you put in place a system in which you can constantly plus effectively monitor your program. In the end, you have to be an involved pilot when it does come to your Adwords program and campaign.

There are two primary areas in which you will want to focus when it comes to monitoring your Adwords campaign today and into the future. First, you definitely will want to track the number of people who are coming to your site overall as opposed to the number of people who are entering your site through your Adwords links. Obviously, you want to implement and utilize an Adwords campaign that clearly is increasing the volume of quality traffic to your Internet website.

Second, you need to pay attention to any changes that may have occurred in regard to the rankings of keywords that you are using as part of your Adwords efforts. The fact is that the World Wide Web is a constantly evolving and changing place. As a result, you need to make sure that you are always using the most appropriate keywords within your Adwords efforts. And, you need to be able to make changes to your Adwords campaign to make sure that you continue to use the most appropriate and popular keywords being utilized in consumer searches relating to the products you sell or the services you provide through your online business enterprise.

Without a doubt, Adsense continues to be a lucrative business opportunity for many Internet marketers. The wisest among them are those that rely on Adsense along with several other sources of online income but it continues to be a profitable venture for anyone that is interested in creating a secondary or even primary stream of passive income. Though passive does seem to be the wrong word considering the amount of work that goes into establishing the initial stream of income.

Making money online is becoming an easier proposition in many ways and more difficult in just as many. As more people become interested in Internet, affiliate, and other marketing methods used online, competition grows. However, for those interested in making money through Adsense, this sets the stage for incredible opportunities. Higher competition means higher prices and earnings for those that are paying for Adwords clicks. By default, this means more income for those who are advertising their ads on websites.

Traffic, of course, is the key to clicks and the results you seek. The more traffic you get the more likely it will be that someone will find something of value in the ads on your blog or web site. If you really want to keep people coming back, and clicking, you need to offer something of value to those who visit your site. This is where the hard work comes in. Good, compelling content doesn’t write itself. You need to either find quality freelance writers to help you in your efforts or plan to spend a great deal of time writing content for your many sites to keep them up to date, informative, and competitive.

More importantly, you don’t want your visitors to think you are only attempting to get their clicks or sell them something. You need to have something of value to offer everyone who clicks on your link. They are a guest in your little corner of the World Wide Web, you need to make them feel welcome, at home, and appreciated.

One way that many marketers have of doing this is by offering free gifts or rewards to visitors. There are all kinds of programs that allow you to give gifts to your visitors at little or no cost to you. These gifts are excellent incentive for visitors to keep coming back and, by default, clicking on your Adsense ads. Those clicks are the reason that Adsense remains a viable money making option even today.

A well-endowed email list is an internet marketer’s pass to regular and sustained profits. Your email list also referred to as an opt-in list or a lead list is a collection of the email addresses of people who have expressed an interest in your business products or services. In short, it’s a list of pre-qualified leads. Therefore, it pays to create an ongoing strategy to build and grow your email list. Here’s how:

Step One: Make it public and prominent. The best way to garner attention for your email list opt-in form is to place it on your website home page and to make sure it’s in a location that captures attention. Many times this is the upper right hand corner of your home page however, it’s important to test and track the location. Consider trying a few locations on your webpage to see which receives the highest opt-in rate.

Step Two: Make sure your opt-in offers value. A simple, sign up for my email list isn’t likely to gain much attention, however a sign up and receive this free 100 page ebook on how to___________ offers value in exchange for an email address and the agreement to receive regular communications from you and your company.

Your offer doesn’t have to be an ebook it could be free consulting, software, an online course or a regular newsletter. Like testing and tracking the location of your opt-in form, you may also want to test your offer. Perhaps your audience responds better to an ebook than to a newsletter or vice versa. Test and track for optimal conversions.

Step Three: Consider advertising. PPC, pay-per-click, campaigns like Google AdWords are a great way to gauge interest in your business and to drive traffic to your opt-in form. The process is fairly straightforward. Begin by creating your opt-in form or webpage, sign up for your PPC campaign through your chosen provider, and carefully test and track the results. PPC campaigns can become very expensive so it’s important to only bid on niche terms your audience will use to find information on your topic.

For example, if your website is based on weight loss the search term “weight loss” has a lot of competition and will cost more than “women’s weight loss” or “high school reunion weight loss”. Track the results daily. If you find you’re receiving a 50% conversion on “Women’s weight loss” and a 3% conversion on “high school reunion weight loss” then you may want to drop that search term and stick with the one that’s showing the best results.

Step Four: Consider partnering with other relevant businesses. Joint venture partnerships take many shapes and forms. One way in which a partnership can be productive for both sides is to promote each other’s email lists. For example, you could promote their opt-in offer on your website or newsletter and vice versa. The trick is to find a partner who is in a complimentary business. For example, if you promote weight loss information and books, you might partner with a business that promotes makeover advice or fitness guidance.

Step Five: Follow through. One of the best ways to build an opt-in list is to generate positive word of mouth. Uphold not only the privacy statement you have on your website and maintain the communication you promised. For example, if people sign up for a weekly newsletter then it’s important to deliver a weekly newsletter. If you promise a high quality step-by-step book on how to buy a home for half its market value then deliver that book.

Building an email list takes a bit of planning and careful testing and tracking. Once you find the right formula for success stick with it. Your email list is your ticket to regular communication with a group of people who have expressed interest in your business. Use it to build a community of followers and promote your products or services.
