So, when would that thin line help you to success rather than failure?

When you are willing to learn new things and do not hesitate to spend extra time to do so. To sacrifice that extra time, you will also need to sacrifice time from some of the things you really love to do; sleep, watching your favorite program, going out with friends, etc. But, you should always know that, you can do all those things again with the satisfaction of accomplishment.

When you are open minded. There isn’t only one way to do things. Try new methods and different approaches to solve the problems. If one approach doesn’t give you the solution you expected, then you probably haven’t discovered the right one. So, you should never give up until you discover the right approach to solve your problems.

When you adapt the attitude of your role model. However that doesn’t mean you should imitate them. You have to put your own thoughts across regularly and you should not hesitate. Role models can teach us to take actions and never give up attitude. However, you need to identify your own actions and keep taking those actions, not your role models’.

When you don’t ignore the future. We can only learn from our past, but we can’t change it. But, we have the ability to change our future the way we want it to be. If we keep repeating the mistakes we’ve done in the past, then we are destine to have a future very similar to our past.

When you always have clear picture of what you want to achieve. If, you can’t visualize your dreams, then you will have great difficulty to reach those dreams. You need to spare some time to sit down and visualize, how the future would be, if you accomplish all your goals. This will help you to motivate to take appropriate actions to make those dreams come true.

When you think that you don’t have enough time to do extra things, but manage to create time. This is when you build the main road to your successful future. We all complain lack of time. But, if you look at people with full of achievements, they were also lack of time. But they always manage to create time to chase their dreams.

Everyone have their own thin line that separates success from failure. You need to identify and find out, what limits you to take that extra step. After you identify those limitations, it will be a lot easier to use them for you advantage.

Do I have to blog daily?

Although you should not publish blog posts in daily basis, you should always try to improve your blog regards to design and content. Blogging doesn’t only involve publishing articles. It also involves research and being active in online communities. When comes to publishing, you need to set your own routine and try to stick to that routine as much as you can.

How Can I Come Up With an Idea of a Blog Post?

In my case, I always keep a pen and a small note book ready. Whenever I get the inspiration for a blog posts, I quickly jot down the idea and the key points. Many people will give you different tips regards to creating blog posts from scratch. And they are all valuable tips as well. However, one method that works for them doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for you. You need to discover your own way to get inspirations and ideas for an article.

Which One Should I Do The Most, Guest Posting or Article marketing?

Article marketing is measured by quantity, however, guest posting is measured by quality. I personally use both methods. You can write articles for directories very quickly and to be honest, you don’t have to spend lots of time for research.  In return you will get some traffic; however that traffic dies within a week or so.

On the other hand guest posting requires some work. You need to give the same attention as the articles that you publish on your blog. Otherwise, they won’t get accepted by the blog owners for all the right reasons. Guest posting allows you to publish your articles on popular blogs. So, you will get targeted traffic, subscribers, and most importantly some recognition.

In my opinion, you should try to do both. Because, in the long run articles that are published in the article directories can get a lot of search engine traffic, if you use the right keywords. And guest posting will also help you to build your traffic and at the same time help you to build your online reputation.

How Many Comments Should I Leave In A Day?

I used to aim for leaving at least 50 comments a day. Not only it required a lot of time, it also used to affect me to work on my own blog. I think, in commenting, you should also aim for quality rather than quantity. I had few comments left on other blogs, which caught the attention of readers of those blog. The traffic I’ve received from those comments was more than what I used to get with 50 comments.

How important is the Community?

Community means support and sharing. Without that support you can only progress to a certain point. You would go backwards but surely not forward. As well as using the benefits of getting the support of a community, you should offer your help and support, to others also.

How much should I care about the search engines, when I am writing my blog posts?

There are two types of content. Content that is written for the search engines and content that is written for your current and potential readers. As a blogger you surely must aim to produce content for readers. But that doesn’t mean you should forget about the search engines. Do some keyword research, before writing your articles. Find out, what are people searching for and what is the competition like for that particular keyword or key phrase. After identifying, you can use the keywords to produce your articles. But make sure you don’t use them excessively. Remember, you are writing for your readers not for the search engines.  You can also use those keywords as tags as well.

If you carry on blogging regularly, you will discover your own answers to most of the questions. I am hoping my answers will help you to find out your own methods and solutions faster.

Use emails on your comments for newsletters

People are required to leave their email address when they are commenting on your blog. This is purely to prevent spamming. As you can see their email, this doesn’t allow you to send promotions and newsletters to their inbox.

Use FeedBurner Email Subscription for other purposes

FeedBurner allows your readers to subscribe to your blog via email. That means, whenever you publish a new post an email alert is send to the subscriber. However, some people take the advantage of this and use those emails for promoting their newsletters. If you keep doing this, that advantage will rapidly turn into disadvantage and you will start losing your readers faster than you imagine.

Arguing and disrespecting your commentators

Your readers don’t have to agree to your opinions and they can tell you, why they don’t agree. You also, don’t have to agree to their comments, but you should not argue or get into offensive discussion with the commentators. This will only make you lose more readers and credibility.

Not allowing people to speak their mind

We all love to read good comments on our blogs. However, we should also be open to constructive criticism. By just allowing comments that praise your content is not the way to gain more readers. You should encourage your readers to speak their mind. Remember, you can learn a lot from them.

Not making regular posts

Posting couple of times in a week regularly can establish a solid readership. However, if you have irregularities between your posts, then your readers will stop subscribing as you don’t meet their expectations.

Keep changing the topic on your blog

Don’t confuse your readers. If your blog’s niche is about Internet Marketing, you should stick to that niche. You can see some blogs changing their topic by reviewing other blogs for money. Although money can be attractive, it will surely destroy your blog.  You wouldn’t like it, if I start publishing articles about pills or flowers.

Ignoring comments

You may not reply to all comments. But you must make sure you read every single of them. Because, people can ask you questions or even provide you with valuable information by commenting on your blog. If you ignore those, it will only upset the commentator.

Relying on guest posts

Guest posting is good for free and quality content. However, if your bog totally relies on guest posting then you don’t really share your thoughts with your readers. Blogs that rely on guest posting will not reflect your own personality and there will always be barrier between you and your readers.

Posting articles from article directories

People usually do this, when they struggle to come up with a new content. However, I think this is really unprofessional. If you really like a post from those directories, you should link to them rather than publishing the whole article on your blog. Also, the same article probably gets published on many other blogs. So, you won’t really have unique content.

Not linking to good blog posts

Don’t be stubborn. If you like something on other blogs, then share it with your readers. Provide a link on your blog. This way, you will not only provide a good content for your readers, you will also get noticed by the blog owner. It can even lead to a partnership, which is one of the key factors behind online success.

Not rewarding your readers

You don’t have to splash cash or unrealistic rewards. You should always show your appreciation to your regular readers by tweeting, stumbling, or digging their content. Although they probably won’t expect you to do it, it would certainly make them happy.

Not providing information about yourself

I think your readers have right to know a little bit more about you. You don’t have to give them your life story; the readers certainly want to know more about the person, who writes the blog posts.

Not being persistent

There can be a lot of time you may not feel like blogging. However, during those times you need to push yourself harder than usual. Otherwise, you will start losing your readers and you will abandon your blog.

I have been trying really hard to get quality traffic since the day I started Teenius.com. I tried many different methods such as paid advertisement and PPC campaigns. However, due to the shortage of cash, I had to stop paying money for the advertisements. Therefore, I start trying different methods to get traffic to my blog, without paying single penny.

So, I started to do the following instead of paying for advertisement.

Guest Posting

I have around 4 guest posts published on different blogs. This might not seem a lot. However, I still get around 100 visitors a month from those guest posts. And I published the last one few weeks ago, and others around couple of months ago. So, at the moment, I am preparing more blog posts to publish on different blogs.

Having RSS Email Subscription Enabled

Before I only had RSS subscription enabled. I never thought having email subscription will give really good effect on traffic. As I made this feature available, I started to see more returning visits. Because, RSS Email subscription allows readers to receive blog posts to their emails, whenever, you publish a new blog post. But, you need to keep one thing in mind. They subscribe for the updates of your blog posts, nothing else.

ReTweeting other’s Post

When I see a good post, I can’t stop my fingers to press retweet button. As, a result I’ve seen positive reaction from the blog owners. They also retweet my posts and I started to get more traffic from Twitter.

Competition on my blog

As you all know, I have weekly contest here, which offers free advertisement to the top commentators. In fact even more prices now (Top Commentator competition). This competition brought lots of new visitors to my blog and still bringing more.

Article Marketing

I was a bit skeptic about article marketing. However, last few weeks, I’ve been publishing around 10 articles per week in Ezine Articles. Although the traffic you receive dies out within few days, I start to get steady traffic, after the articles start to appear in the search engines. But you need to make sure to aim for correct and uncompetitive keywords, when you are writing your articles.

Related Posts Plug-in

Although this plug-in doesn’t help you to get direct traffic, it certainly helps you to increase your page loads. Very useful way to make your old blog posts visible.

Blog Commenting

I always try to comment on other blogs. However, last few weeks I haven’t been commenting as much as before. However, the comments I leave now, are longer and much better. Obviously this has major role to get more traffic from blog commenting.  I would say, If can’t guest post; try to aim for leaving longer comments that relates to topic.

I know that it can be hard to get quality traffic. Especially, if you don’t have enough money to spare for advertisements. However, above methods would bring you as much traffic as you would get from advertisement. Maybe even more quality traffic. And, it will only cost you, your time.

Unfortunately, coming with an idea of a blog post is not the only problem that prevents us to publish on a regular basis. Fear of getting bad reactions from the readers can prevents us to over criticize our own articles. And in some cases, we stop writing.

Providing same quality in regular basis can be overwhelming. That may even result in phobia to create new blog posts. Because, you need to keep up the standards, you need to provide a content that is as good as the previous one, and you need to make your readers to stay as your readers, because you don’t want to lose them.

So, how can you overcome the phobia of writing new blog posts?

Not writing is worse than writing posts that get negative reaction from your readers.

Practice makes us better. More we write and more we get bad reaction from the readers, we can always use this to our advantage. Usually, a good reader always explains what they don’t like about your posts? That is the perfect way to learn from them. However, if we let our fears to prevent us to make new blog posts, we won’t have the opportunity to learn from our mistakes.

Allow your readers to speak up

So, don’t be that person, who only likes to hear good phrases from people. Always be open to constructive criticism. Allow your readers to say what they really want to say. If they don’t like your article and if they can openly let you know about it (of course in a certain manner), that will also make them feel as part of your community. In fact that will make them feel very important part of your community.

Imagine a community (either online or offline), where you are right all the time and you don’t care about what others say. You will realize very quickly that people are keeping their distance from you.

See your readers as your friends not your customers

It is always easier when our family and friends are around. We don’t really care about making mistakes. Because, we know for a fact that they will let us know if we do something wrong. Unfortunately, customers won’t always let you know about their problems with your products or services. They simply stop coming. As they don’t tell you what made them annoyed, you won’t get the chance to correct your mistakes.

So, if you start seeing your readers as your friends, you will be more brave and confident on what you write and what you publish on your blog.

There might be a blog post that leads your visitors to subscribe to your blog. On the other hand there might be another post that would make the same readers to unsubscribe. All you need to remember is, you can’t make everyone happy and there might be days where your blog posts may not be as good as the ones you published before. But you shouldn’t let the reactions of your readers to intimidate you to stop writing. Just keep doing it. Learn from your mistakes and learn from your readers.
