Sources indicate that Michael Jackson has died in Los Angeles today after suffering a cardiac arrest.No comment has been made at this time, but according to TMZ, paramedics were unable to revive the 50-year-old musician after they were called to his Los Angeles-area home. The screen rights to Larry Doyle's upcoming novel "Go Mutants!" has been picked up by Universal Pictures. Brian Grazer will produce, while Doyle will write the script.The teen comedy/adventure set in a high school where all of the tropes from classic 1950s alien invasion movies came true. Years later, the children of those mutant creatures have assimilated among the other kids. Alex Holmes has been hired by Warner Bros to rewrite and direct "The Interpretation of Murder".The story is an adaptation of the Jed Rubenfeld novel, which follows a Sigmund Freud protege who discovers a trail of sadistic murders in turn-of-the-century New York. The novel was published in 2007 by Picador.Chris Kyle wrote the first draft of the screenplay. Variety has more on this title.

Jerry O'Connell is attached to star in "Piranha 3-D" for The Weinstein Company. Alexandre Aja directs the action-thriller which co-stars Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Ving Rhames, Richard Dreyfuss and Jessica Szohr.A sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish in Lake Victoria and an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food.However, the heroine (Shue) is seriously outnumbered, and with only one chance to save the lake and her family from totally being devoured, she must risk everything to destroy the aquatic carnivores herself.Shooting starts next Monday at Lake Havasu, Arizona for a March 19th 2010 release.
