Chad and Danielle – Muskegon Engagement Session

This past weekend I had the honor of photographing Danielle and Chad’s engagement session in their home town of Muskegon, Michigan. We started the session around 10:30 am at the pier where Chad proposed to Danielle. Lake Michigan was the prefect place to start the day!

As the day went on I got to know Chad and Danielle a lot better! They first contacted me during my Free Wedding Contest and I was excited when they decided to book with me! They have been dating since high school and even attended college together!

The weather was perfect even though Danielle was hoping for a snowy engagement session! They were great sports even though I make up lame jokes! At this point I believe Danielle was laughing at her mother who had decided to sit in the middle of the icey walk way trying to hold back their dog Remington!

During lunch I found out that Danielle and Chad have traveled quite bit all over the US. I also found out Chad enjoys playing hockey, hunting and fishing, which I can now say I know an awful lot about ice fishing! Thanks Chad for putting up with all of my crazy questions!!!

After heading over to a park we found the SNOW Danielle had been wanting!!! The perfect way to end their engagement session.

I had a great time! I can not wait for their wedding August 14!

I woke up Monday morning to an email from Amanda at Bliss Wedding & Events telling me this…..

Crazy right?! So I had to wait until Tuesday morning to find out where I placed in the contest for “Homegrown Weddings”. I waited patiently tuntil 7 am on Tuesday to find out that I placed…

out of 400 entries! AMAZING! What an honor!

I have to say thank you first to Jen of Jen Lynne Photography for allowing me to second shoot for her on this amazing wedding.

Homegrown Michigan Wedding Photo Contest!

I knew there was a reason I could not sleep this morning! As I laid in bed staring at my clock thinking does it really say 5:46 AM? Yeah it did so I checked my emails and played WORDS with friends waiting for the time to be closer to 6 AM, trying so very hard not to wake Adam. All of a sudden I get this email from Amanda at Bliss Weddings and Events telling me one of my photo entries had been chosen as a top ten finalist! How exciting!!

Thanks to Amanda for putting this contest on! This is her second year for the contest and unlike last year she has created THREE categories:

My husband Adam and I have never really been into Valentines day. Depending on that day it falls on we just call it “Happy Sunday.”
To us it is just like any other day, but I know a lot of people do celebrate it and I think that is wonderful!
So in honor of it being Valentines day, I wanted to say congratulation to all of you newly engaged couples! Also sending much love to all of my married and already engaged clients!!
As cheesy as it may seem, I love love. Everything about from those first butterflies you get on the first date, to the anticipation of “is he going to kiss me or not?”
I just can not get enough of it! The look of pure happiness on the brides face as she walks down the isle to marry her best friend. Man, it gets me every time.
I appreciate my job so much, seeing that I get to capture the love they have for one another. It’s magical.

Today like I said was like any other Sunday. Adam and I lounged around in the morning, and then gave Samson a bath. We cleaned and reorganized our room. We cooked a yummy mushroom onion pot roast and watched a movie. The perfect day – the best part was that we were together.
So here is to being with the one you love every day.

Don’t get Samson wrong. He really does like getting a bath!! Hee Hee

Playing Around! Michigan Child Photographer

I have know this family since 2008 & love it when they call me to photograph their beautiful very energetic daughter C.

You might remember C from her “Candy Girl” blog post! Her mother always picks out the cutest outfits! For C’s 4th birthday her mom threw her a wonderful Cider Mill party & she wanted her 4 year old picture to have a “country” feel to them. I think we captured that & it also helped that she had the cutest cowgirl boots!!!

Adding me as a friend helps me get to know who you are better. At C’s session I was able to talk to her more one on one because I saw that she got to go to American Girl in Chicago for her birthday. C was so excited & opened up to me more because we had something in common, as a child I loved American Girl – so I had lots of questions & she was able to relax.

I look forward to next year!!! :] The BIG 5!!

Crazy In Love – Jamie & Aaron’s Wedding

Jamie & Aaron’s wedding had a big lead up seeing that we did two engagement session & had a blast on both! I couldn’t wait to photographer their crazy in love wedding!

Their wedding took place on 7-11 so of course we had to get our FREE 7.11 oz Slurpee! It was a perfect way to refresh ourselves!

I hope you all remember M.G. (Mountain Goat) of course he played a BIG part in the wedding day – so it was very fitting to see him & his new mate on top of the wedding cake! I had to seal him for their wedding ring shots as well! It just wouldn’t have been right without him!!

The Story of M.G.

“A” went to England for what would be their first Christmas together, he said he was going to wait to buy J’s Christmas present in England. She was thinking “cool, its going to be something sweet!” Well when he returned he was super excited to give J her gift. J was kinda hyped about it when all of a sudden he pulled this little toy mountain goat out of his pocket, smiling he said “isn’t it cool”, J’s response was “yea, where is the real gift, haha.” Well the mountain goat was it, he got it from what is supposedly the worlds biggest toy store in England. Little did he realize this Mountain Goat was manufactured by a popular toy company who even sells the same exact thing at Target. But still she thanked him and has TEASED him relentlessly forever sense. To make sure he never forgets, she brings mountain goat with her whenever she travels and take pictures of him with monuments, people etc. M.G. as we call him, has been to Chile, Argentina, Poland, a few college parties and even President Obamas inauguration. He is quite the traveled goat! And J swears to you, if you ever visit Valdivia, Chile at least 10 people will know of “la cabra.”

The Party was ON after dinner!

Aaron is part of a fraternity & it is one of their “traditions” to play Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believein’” – Here is my favorite shot from their group chant.

As the sun was setting we went outside for a few last shots of the newlyweds!

A & H Engagement Session – Detroit, Michigan

I met Heidi at a bridal show & a few months later she came in for a consult. We hit it off & I couldn’t wait to meet this A she had been talking about!
As a photographer I am a big preacher of seeing each other before the ceremony & I was so excited when H told me they were planning on doing just this!!

The first time I saw A – I thought “WOW is he TALL!”

They were constantly laughing & poking at each other. I always find it adorable to see the little inside jokes come out while photographing couples. They had a few!

Between us, the best part about having a second shooter work with me is the fun pictures they secretly take of me! Hee Hee!
I work with a lot of great photographers & I love that they always send me the snap shots of me working. As my collection grows I wanted to share some of them with you!
Plus they make me LAUGH!

urban maternity – owosso, michigan

I am fully admitting on my blog that I have a slight obsession with pregnant woman! Wait, not in the freaky “I want your baby” way but the “wow i am so fascinated” way.
So much is going on with their bodies & the amazing miracle that is growing inside of them just WOW’s me.
I always have a million questions & I love it when they give me answers like this….it makes me smile thinking I can not wait to experience that feeling. But it will be a while before then.

“…..she is always with me, I am going to miss that……“

I had this vision in my head about a really fun winter maternity session I had been wanting to do. So I posted on facebook how I was looking for “a very pregnant woman” and right away I got a message from M & M! I met them through my friend Jeff & was excited to set a date to photograph them. They weren’t sure what to expect so I told them to expect fun & laughter her response was “….sounds fun and like just what we need, time with each other, before our lives change (for the better!) “
Hanging out with M & M all morning was wonderful & I got a chance to capture their love for each other & baby T!
I shot this session all in JPEG & alot of the images are SOOC (straight out of the camera). I am very proud of these!!!

Isn’t she beautiful?! They are truly great people! I can not wait to meet baby T! M & M are going to be wonderful parents & I know they are anxious for baby T to get here!
