Speaking at the Council of Europe and European Parliament in Strasbourg, on a whistle stopping short trip on 25 November 2014, Pope Francis stuck a note of reality and hope to a 'lonely' and 'self-absorbed' Europe to 'recover its soul. Mohan Bhagwandas, who serves on the International Council of Initiatives of Change International, asks whether Initiatives of Change can facilitate a new conversation for Europe.

Assaad Chaftari, who during Lebanon’s civil war fought as part of a Christian militia, was interviewed on 10 November by 'Insight on Conflict'. With the strapline 'A religious fanatic turned peace advocate', the article describes Assad's 'wake up call', when he met Initiatives of Change in 1988. 'Little by little, he started wondering, was he really on the side of God? Only then he realized he had a bloody path and past.'

Recently Baringo county, Kenya, has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Fresh violence has hit the area, killing dozens of people and forcing many to flee their homes. Twenty-one police officers were ambushed and killed by bandits in Pokot. In a difficult context of violence and castle-rustling, three Peace Circles- in Kabarnet, Sandai (Bogoria) and Marigat reaching 48 women from the Tugens, Endorois and Ilchamus communities - addressed some of the root causes and equipped women to become peace-makers.
