Chembal Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar ,a doyen of Carnatic Music was born in Chembal Village,Kottayi,Palakkad district. He was awarded Padma Bhusan, Sangeet Academy Award for contribution to Carnatic Music.

Malampuzha Dam built across Malampuzha ,a tributary of Bharathapuzha is one of the best known tourist spots of Kerala.

Lakkidi  is the birth place of Kunjan Nambiar (1700-1775) Kerala’s greatest Humorist Poet.He is better Known as the originator of a solo dance performance called  ”Ottamthullal”.The Cancellation depicts the head gear of the artist performing the dance.

Horses of India – Miniature Sheet – By India Post. Placing both affected and normal Miniature sheet, a perforation of the above 2 stamps “Kathiawari and Marwari” shifted downward marked with arrows, leaving horse name “Kathiawari & Marwari” and Bharat/India out of the stamps.

I wonder if IPS ever acts on responses like this (R. Purushothaman)even if they may be sent directly to the authorities and decision makers at IPS. Haven’t seen its effects ever -if any. In view of the number of new stamps India releases month after month (not to mention at its whims), Mr R.Purushothaman’s concern over 50 stamps on the cinema subject should actually be considered quite fitting (sarcastically) in the sense that worldwide philately considers it a laughing stock. Add to that the zeal with which Indian collectors publish their own such purchases in the form of special cancellations and unlimited number of franked covers makes me laugh about complaints I read elsewhere, especially when there isn’t any co-relation between the issued stamp and the theme selected for a cover. Has any philatelist given a thought in India about what they have been purchasing that’s essentially shear ‘waste of money’ -items that won’t have any reason to appreciate in value, perhaps with few selected exceptions of worthy stamp subjects?  And I’m not even bringing in the current ‘hoopla’ (gaga) over those ridiculous custom made stamp sheets with pictures/designs of a collector’s choice to go along as adjacent ’decorations’ & at a premium while displaying them with ‘pride’ (?). And by the way, there was an individual by the name of Dadasaheb Phalake ( दादासाहेब फाळके) who in 1913 produced the first Indian film (Raja Harishchandra), however silent and in black and white from when the 100 Years Of Indian Cinema gets counted and there is not a mention of him despite him making 95 movies and 26 short films in his career spanning 19 years, till 1937, including his most noted works: Mohini Bhasmasur (1913), Satyavan Savitri (1914), Lanka Dahan (1917), Shri Krishna Janma (1918) and Kaliya Mardan (1919). But then, I must be an old soul who thinks what do I know about current Bollywood thoughts!
