Loving this black show-stopping evening dress by Maje isn’t very hard. Its silhouette is feminine and elegant, but also quite modern and contemporary. The bodice is fitted with a tailored pleated waist and a mini-length lining underneath the voluminous semi-sheer skirt and flattering chevron stripes at the bust. This beautiful dress would be a great addition to my evening repertoire as it’s perfectly cut out to be worn to formal events, but $470? I think I’ll have to pass on this one.

Lulus Aira Striped Mesh Midi Skater Dress

So have you fallen in love with Vince Camuto‘s Gigietta ankle boots yet? Because half of Instagram seems to be absolutely obsessed with them! At first, I’ve seen these pointy block heel booties on a couple of influencers’#ootds, but didn’t pay too much attention initially. However, these kind of ankle boots just kept popping up on my feed over again and over again in the last few weeks. And I finally knew there must be a major shoe trend going on when I noticed @trickandtreatyourself talking about them in one of her dupe posts and incessantly in her IG stories. And I can definitely see why so many people are loving these booties. The boot shape is almost architectural with its dramatic angles which come from the sharply pointed snip toe, the curved stacked block heel and the deep V-split cutouts that beautifully accent the sides. Plus, they come in a gazillion colors, prints and uppers. The original retail price for these stylish ankle boots is $149.95, but Nordstrom has them on sale for a little under $100 right now.

Save or Splurge – Gianvito Rossi 105 Classic Stiletto Pumps

I’ve been obsessed with these classic black stiletto pumps by Gianvito Rossi for several years now. To me, they are the epitome of the perfect black high heel, an absolute wardrobe classic that can last you a decade and never goes out of style or becomes obsolete. The design is simple but elegant and the arch is so distinctive, I would easily recognize it in a sea of black high heel pumps. Back then Gianvito Rossi shoes used to retail for around $450 and I should’ve taken the chance to buy a pair, but unfortunately I didn’t because I already owned a ton of black pumps and now Rossi’s classic styles go for almost $700 which is completely out of my budget and hence opting for the real deal is out of question.

I wondered: cam you have Italian craftmanship à la Gianvito Rossi for less than $700? Yes, you can and 8 by YOOX shows you how. Save or Splurge – Chloé Faye Flap Shoulder Bag

Back in May, we received a reader email from Madison who requested us to find a dupe for Chloé‘s Faye bag. At that time however, there were no Faye dupes available anywhere (at least none that we could find anyway), so I suggested to Madison to wait a couple more months until the fast fashion market would catch onto this bag trend. Fortunately, the Faye went viral in the fashion blogosphere in the meantime and many of the top notch style bloggers have been spotted carrying a Faye under their arm. This bag with its distinct chained O-ring on the front is available in an array of different colors and uppers and color combinations, but the most popular ones seem to be the black and the cognac brown version as shown below. And despite the hefty price tag of $1.950, many of the Faye bags seem to be on backorder at most online retailers. Luckily, we were able to find a few Chloé Faye dupes by now, so Madison (and you) don’t have to wait an eternity and spend a fortune on top to be able to tote this trendy bag style around.

Hedi Slimane for Céline. There, I think I might have opened Pandora’s box. But let’s talk about this controversial topic for a minute, shall we? Slimane’s first collection for Céline was certainly not very well received among the fashion world and I’m not quite sure whether it was because of people’s dislike for Hedi Slimane or their adoration for Phoebe Philo who was previously in charge as Céline’s creative director. Regardless of the reason, Céline fans were *not* pleased with Slimane’s new creative direction for Céline and many expressed their discontent with the emergence of the hashtag #OldCéline on social media. And while I was personally neither in favor of Slimane nor against him with regard to his appointment at Céline, I must admit I didn’t care much for most of his first Céline collection either. That was until I laid eyes on the Besace 16 bag which I think looks pretty amazing, doesn’t it? But, oh my, almost $3k for the natural calfskin? I think I’ll pass this time, thank you, Hedi…

MANGO Vero-LM Flap Crossbody Bag

When I spotted this crossbody flap bag in the new arrivals section at MANGO the other day, I immediately felt a designer inspired vibe radiating from this faux leather messenger bag. At first, I couldn’t put my finger on it, but after seeing the Besace 16 bag on the Céline website a few days later, it finally clicked and I was able to make the visual connection between these two bags. And now that I see both bags next to each other, let me tell you that I kind of prefer MANGO’s inspired interpretation of Hedi Slimane’s Céline Besace 16 bag. The flap, I think, looks nicer and I also like the clasp design better on the MANGO version. And don’t get me started on the price. $3k vs. $30? I think we all know in wich corner you’ll find me when it comes to what I’d rather spend my money on.

These Balenciaga studded gladiator sandals have been around for a long time, but are now right on trend with the current rise of fashionable slide sandals. They feature Balenciaga’s signature Giant studs in either gold- or silvertone, come in various colors and finishes, have a comfortable 0.8″ stacked heel and – unfortunately – a rather hefty price tag of almost $800. These would be a great buy if you’re looking for a slide sandal that you can wear every day, but which will also give your outfit a bit of an edge and some punk rock glam on top. Save or Splurge – Saint Laurent YSL Monogram Matelassé Envelope Chain Wallet

I’ve been lusting after one of these Saint Laurent YSL Monogram Envelope Wallet Bags for ages now, but there’s no way I could justify paying retail. However, I can’t seem to get them out of my head either and so I keep coming back to them on a regular basis to admire them from afar. It’s a such a classic and elegant design, don’t you agree? A timeless bag style that will surely stand the tests of time and will still be in style ten or twenty years from now. But $1.350? Unfortunately, my bank account doesn’t match my exquisite taste in fashion. So what’s a girl on a budget to do? Well, I might keep stalking this bag on second hand shopping platforms like Vestiaire Collective or The RealReal and try to scoop it up for a good price there, but what I learned so far from my shopping research is that this particular bag style is quite popular and sought after, so even the second hand prices are still relatively steep. I’m not ready to give up on this designer bag dream yet, but in the meantime I might resort to find myself a more affordable YSL alternative until I have the funds to buy the real deal.

Luckily, while browsing through the new arrivals at Forever 21 recently, I discovered these lovely chevron quilted crossbody flap bags and they instantly reminded me of the Saint Laurent wallet clutches above. Of course, they are missing the beautiful YSL monogram logo on the front, but the overall look still matches the designer version above and these here are also 98% cheaper than the real deal, so who I am to complain? I have a new jewelry obsession and big surprise, once again it’s by Céline. Now I’m usually not a fan of overly blingy jewelry, but Céline’s crystal-encrusted Edwige oval rhodium coated brass hoop earrings have taken my heart in an instant after I started seeing these sparkling hoops on my Instagram feed a few months ago. They’re a great way to add some grown-up glam and sparkle to your face or outfit without making it look tacky. But $670? As much as I love Céline, there must be a more affordable way to get the same type of glitz for a whole lot less.

I’ve definitely fallen in love with Céline’s Edwige hoops, but there’s no way I can justify spending almost $700 on such a trendy piece of costume jewelry which might go out of style just as quickly as it started showing up on everyone’s Insta feeds. Luckily, I was able to find a great dupe alternative for less than $10 at AliExpress which will give you the coveted look of Céline for just a little over 1% compared to the real deal designer earrings. I do not order at AliExpress too often because I find the product selection there overwhelming, return processing tends to be rather inconvenient and product quality can be hit or miss sometimes, but since I couldn’t find anything remotely similar elsewhere, I thought I would give it a try for $7.46. TL;DR: The earrings arrived in a timely manner and the quality is pretty decent if you consider I bought them for less than $8. They’re sturdy, the closure is solid, so the earrings won’t slide off your ears and none of the rhinestones have fallen out yet which was my biggest fear prior to ordering. They’re made of 18k white gold plated brass and cost $64 which isn’t exactly budget-friendly but still 90% cheaper than the real designer deal.

Leave it to Chanel to make us crave those #grannyshoes we all deemed ugly when we were teenagers. And if it weren’t for Chanel and the iconic CC-logo on the side of the heel, I doubt these would have been quite as popular as they are right now, but even though I know the greater part of the allure of these shoes can be traced back to just being by Chanel, I somehow still understand why so many bloggers and fashion insiders are so in love with these. The two-tone cap-toe, the mid-height block heel, the convenient slingback; it’s the perfect example of 50s retro chic and an absolute timeless classic. By pairing these shoes with modern pieces such as ripped skinny jeans or a cool biker jacket, you will keep yourself from looking like an actual granny in these. And while I don’t know what the exact retail price is for these, we’re talking about Chanel here after all, so I think it’s safe to say that they’re expensive. And apparently very hard to get ahold of these days.

Back in the old days (you know, 2005) the fashion world saw the introduction to the It Bag – a bag that became every starlet’s must have accessory. One day, readers (stay with me), Mary Kate Olsen was spotted carrying a gorgeous black, studded bag that no one could identify but that everyone immediately wanted. When it comes to sunglasses I have no strict budget policy because I’m slightly obsessed with sunglasses and both own designer shades priced upwards of $200 as well as super cheap $5 sunnies I randomly picked up at souvenir shops and pretty much everything in between. I like to have a large variety to choose from and will often buy designer dupes first before I later decide to splurge on the real deal if I happen to fall in love with a particular designer style. Opting for cheap sunglasses is often a smart choice because you don’t want to be constantly worrying about breaking your favorite $400 designer shades or getting them stolen at the beach or a fun festival weekend. Now let’s talk about these fabulous Céline sunglasses. I think I have confessed my love for Céline eyewear before and these Tilda sunnies are my latest obsession! I feel like I’ve mostly worn round cat-eye shapes lately, so I’m craving a change and these super square sunnies are a refreshing new style and would be a great addition to my ever-growing sunglass collection! I just love how big and masculine they are yet they seem to be universally flattering on almost any head shape. They definitely have the potential to become my latest pair of designer sunglasses. But before I spend $250 on them, first I’ll need to figure out whether this is just a momentary fling or an eternal love that could last a lifetime.

Save or Splurge – Chanel Cap-Toe Block Heel Pumps

I must say: Hats off to Chanel for being able to reinvent the classic ol’ granny shoe and reliven the outdated shoe while casually turning a blast from the past into a massive and worldwide shoe hype that is now gracing the feet of fashion lovers, editors and pretty much every fashion influencer under the sun. I really can’t remember how often I’ve seen Chanel’s infamous two-tone cap-toe slingbacks (or their look-alikes, respectively) lately. They are everywhere; in magazines, on blogs, social media, the streets and on the red carpet. There’s no escaping the Chanel granny shoe and I really don’t mind. While sceptical at first, I definitely have warmed up to the trend now and am loving the enormous influx of grandma inspired cap-toe shoes we’re currently seeing popping up everywhere. And while I do love the laissez-faire style of the highly popular slingback version, for Fall, I do prefer a shoe with a closed back, so these block heel pumps below would be a perfect addition to my Fall wardrobe. But whom are we kidding? This is Chanel we’re talking about and even though I don’t know what the retail price is on these beauties here, I’m quite certain my shopping budget isn’t nowhere near as opulent as it would have to be in order for me to be able to afford the real deal.

After having so much success with their Chanel slingback dupe Liah, I guess Ivanka Trump decided they weren’t quite done with riding that Chanel granny shoe trend train yet and so they came out with Lindi, a very Chanel-esque cap-toe pump which is basically the identical sister of Liah but in a non-slingback version. Lindi comes in either beige/black leather or suede and is also available in other colors such as burgundy, black and navy (suede). Like Liah, Lindi retails for $124.95 (now on sale for $93.75); which seems like a reasonable price for such a spot-on Chanel dupe made of genuine leather. Don’t wait too long with your purchase though as I’m pretty sure these will be similarly popular as Trump’s Liah slingbacks, so make your order before your size goes out of stock and while you’re at it, make sure to check out Larrie as well, it’s a lower flat version of Liah and Lindi.
