Bloom Where You're Planted - Floral

Our next challenge starts June 6. For those of you who aren't familiar with our challenges, the guidelines are below:

Tuesday T&T A Card For All Reasons

Because I give a lot of cards and don't always know for what that will be, I usually try to create a card I can use for any reason. Below are the rules I follow to do it:

The sentiment on the front is usually "For You". It can also be "Thinking Of You". Something that makes it personal, but could cover a broad number of reasons for giving the card.
I have gone crazy for the twisted easel cards because you can choose how much space to fill on the base, so you can say as much or little as you want. (Even if the space is full, you can always include a note piece of paper folded and placed behind the easel part).

Below is how I did it this time:

Background:

CAC Tapestry stamped on Neenah Solar White cardstock with VersaMark ink and embossed with a white pearl embossing powder (from my stash) was used as a matte for the Embossed Gift die cut, after brayering it with Memento Angel Pink.
The die cut was done twice using Curious Ice Gold cardstock and then overlapped as shown.
The die cuts were taped in place on the back. I placed the tape first and then inserted the "quilted" images.
The white cardstock matte for the "quilted look" was cut 6"X4" and then the edge die cut with a Border Duo 1 die for the edged below (taped in place with removeable Scotch tape).

Images:

Getting ready for the images meant doing a die cut with the paper cone die with another stashed CAC Tapestry stamped with Memento Angel Pink on Curious Ice Gold cardstock. It was then folded along the creases as shown and then embossed from the underside go give it dimension.
The two mini circle round tags were used to get a die cut from white cardstock and one from the Curious Ice Gold with the pink ink.
The flower bouquet was stamped twice from Spring Medley clear stamp set with Delicata Golden Glitz ink, painted with Twinks, and cut out as shown. The images were embossed from the back for dimension and mounted with 3D pop dots, then placed inside the Paper Cone and mounted as shown on the cardfront. A simple white organdy bow was attached with a glue dot.
The circles were mounted, the sentiment stamped with Memento Bamboo Leaves, a pearl mounted with Glossy Accents and glitter applied on the squashed part. It was mounted with 3D pop dots too.

So there you have it. All ready for whomever and whatever comes into play for any reason. :-)

Tuesday T&T More Flowers For You Too!

I was inspired by Dina Kowal's post HERE. This card is for someone who loved to garden and liked flowers of all kinds, so I went 3 dimensional. Below is what I did:

Base For The Flowers:

Embossed Floral Lace Heart on white cardstock for the base as shown.
Put the die back over the embossed area and used the 1/8" disc, from Magic Matter, and pencil to create a border around the embossed area.
Trimmed around the embossed area.

Finishing the Heart:

For more depth I die cut the Floral Lace Heart and then glued it to the embossed one.
Painted the leaves using two shades of green. The darker color was placed on the outside.
Cut out the flowers as shown and mounted them with glue dots in the middle and 3D dots under the petals. Painted them with twinks, but Copic or dye markers will work too. Also used All-Purpose Ink for the white flowers.
Added embellishments to the centers using pearl stickers, Glossy Accents, and glitter to the centers.

Sentiment:

The sentiment (from Hydrangea clear set) was stamped on white cardstock with Bamboo Leaves and then die cut using a Sign Post die.

Base:

Die cut Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles with green cardstock and mounted on white cardstock.
Mounted ribbon and Floral Lace Heart.
Applied bow.
Mounted sentiment.

It really was fast. I thought the flowers would take a long time, but they didn't. I think painting the leaves first really helped me mount the flowers faster for some reason.

Tuesday T&T Sign Post or Planter - Maybe Both!

Who says I don't see things sideways!! I saw the Sign Post Die Set and immediately thought of a planter with flowers growing in it. Below is how I did it:

Planter:

I left the dies for Sign Post connected to do the initial die cuts on brown cardstock. I re-spaced them on white cardstock so they would look more they had mortar in between.
Grass was die cut twice for the stems of the flowers.
Grass Border was cut for the grass around the planter.

Flowers:

I used 2 dies from Spiral Flowers and one from Layered Floral. I did the rolled flowers with vellum, but a little different from last time. I still used the Tweezers. A thin line of Glossy Accent (in the bottle on the left with the red top) was placed along the base from the second petal to about the fourth. I started rolling from the outside toward the center.
One of the glue dot, like those shown, had one side removed to be ready to use. When I was at the end of the wrap I released it a little so the outside was looser. Then I placed it on the glue dot, removed the tweezers. The tweezers were used to curl the petals a little.
The flower was placed it on one of the Leaf Clusters and then on the stems of the Grass in the planter.
For the 3 petal flowers and leaves I used the Layered Floral die. The flower petals were curled a little, mounted on the leaf "petals", then on the "grass" stems.

Sentiment:

I saved the cardstock from the "planter" die cuts and taped it in place on white cardstock with removable tape.
Thinking of You from Hydrangea clear set was stamped with Bamboo Leaves.
The die was laid over the area and a die cut was created.
The edge of the die cut was inked with Memento Rich Cocoa, faux brads were applied, then it was mounted on the planter with 3d pop dots.

Cardfront Base And Background:

The base is olive green, the die cut is from Spellbinders Locking Loops.
Diagonal Stripes was inked with Fluid Chalk Creamy Brown. I stamped it with the stripes going from left to right on purpose.
Rain was inked with Memento Bamboo Leaves and stamped with the drops going from right to left.
Stickles Diamonds glitter glue was used to accent some of the drops.
The Locking Loops die was used as a stencil, BG cut out, and then mounted on the die cut.

Assembly:

The ribbon was applied, planter mounted with 3D pop dots, and then the bow!
Viva Decor Yellow Quartz and Holo Iridescent and pearl stickers were used to accent the centers of the flowers.
Grass was placed at the base of the planter.

Tuesday T&T It's Still About Those Dies

I've wanted to use Cover-A-Card Distressed Brick for some time, so that is how I started this card:

BACKGROUND:

Stamped CAC Distressed Brick with Memento Toffee Crunch on both white and natural cardstock and decided on the natural.
Die Cut and embossed Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles for the background and the sentiment.
Used the same template for the background as a stencil for the Distressed Brick and mounted it on the die cut.
Taped the back center of the die cut and mounted a piece of natural cardstock 4"X6".

DIE READY:

It's about the connected dies!!! Some I like connected and some not. The nots I simply cut with my wire cutters. BE CAREFUL. Make sure the sharp bottom side of the cutter is even with the die and the connector, not overlapping the edge of the die. ;-) If it's still rough, a file smooths mine just fine.
I use leftover paper scraps for my smaller dies. :-) Yes I save paper. LOLOL If you look at the flower dies on the pink, there is a small hole in the back. I tried pins, etc, and sometimes it worked and sometimes it would go right through the cardstock or the vellum, like I am using here. I found that a Kabob skewer, like the one next to the wire cutters, worked really well without puncturing the paper.
Below are the dies I used with the papers:

DIE CUTS:

The first die cuts (upper right hand corner)are from Layered Floral Set on pink vellum. The dies cuts were also embossed, then embossed from the back with a stylus. The top layer was reversed for effect. The underside of the bottom layer has a 1/16" pop dot.
The spiral flower is from Spiral Flowers and cut from vellum and white cardstock to see which one I liked best. To do the flower, I used Tweezer Bee as shown below. You squeeze it to open it. It grips the end of the paper while you twist it around (embossed petals on the inside until you fold them out. I also used a thin line of Glossy Accents. At the bottom I added some Glossy Accents to the dot and pushed the top roll on it. It is attached to the cardstock with a glue dot. A tiny bit of GA goes a long way and dries faster.
Vine was used to help set the flowers and the leaves.
The leaves are from Leaf Cluster.
Those little butterflies are from Butterfly Set on white vellum, painted with a Memento Dandelion marker on the underside, and a line of Viva Decor Hematite was done down the middle of each one.

ASSEMBLY:

The vine was mounted, then the flowers, and the leaves on the left.
The sentiment is from the clear stamp set Hydrangea and is stamped in Fluid Chalk Deep Green.
The flower centers were embellished with Stickles glitter glue. The leaves, butterflies, and pearl hearts were mounted with GA and pop dots.

A fun card and I learned from doing this too. I had the Tweezer Bee but had never used it. One try with some needle nose pliers and I was sold. :-) Thanks for stopping by and see you back here for DT Thursday.
