We have heard in the Gospel reading about towns where Our Lord did the vast majority of His work, and He condemns them because they did not believe. It is quite amazing to hear what He has to say about these other towns, about Tyre and Sidon, about Sodom and Gomorrah, that Sodom would still have been around to that particular day if the works done in Capernaum had been done in Sodom. We all know what happened in Sodom, the horrible sins that were going on there, the gross homosexuality and all the problems that they had. And we know that when the angels came to Sodom, they wanted to sodomize the angels. Yet Our Lord is telling us that if those works that He did had been done in Sodom, Sodom would still be standing because the people would have converted.

Our Culture Is Worse Than Sodom And Gomorrah
We look around and we see things in our own society getting worse and worse and worse –not only our society, but throughout the world. We ask ourselves, “What is it going to take? What does God have to do to get people turned around?” We might say, “If He did some sort of miracle, people would surely believe.” How many miracles does He need to do? They are happening all the time, yet people refuse to believe. The amazing thing is that very often it is even the people for whom the miracles were done who refuse to believe these days. God does something extraordinary right in someone’s life and they just shrug it off! They continue to act the way that they were before. We are in such a situation that we have to understand that our society is worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. Now that is quite a statement, yet it is true. Sodom and Gomorrah would have converted if the works that the Lord continues to do even in our own day would have been done in them.

The Vast Majority Refuse To Repent and Believe In The Gospel
But we have been untouched as a society by the works of the Lord. How many Masses are said everyday. How many graces are brought down to this earth through the Mass being offered, through generous souls who are willing to suffer, through the prayers of good and holy people. Yet things continue just to degenerate. At the time of Our Lord, they did not understand the value of suffering. They did not have the Mass. They had Jesus going into these towns and working mighty deeds, but He told us that we would do even greater things than what He had done. So we have all of the saints. We have our Blessed Lady. We have Our Lord. We have the Mass. We have an understanding of the value of prayer and suffering and sacrifice and all these things. We have many, many generous people who are offering themselves to the Lord as victim souls and who are offering their daily sufferings to the Lord. Still, the vast majority refuses to hear and to change.

We Have To Continue To Pray And Do Penance For Our Lost Brothers And Sisters
We need desperately to continue to pray and to continue to offer our sufferings and sacrifices to the Lord. It is the only way. The devil right now has such a hold on the people of this world that our only hope for being able to snatch them from the hands of Satan is going to be through prayer and sacrifice. There are many who are willing to do so, yet when we look at the whole world, it is hardly a handful by comparison. God needs generous souls and He needs them desperately. We can be guaranteed if we are willing to offer up those sacrifices to the Lord that we will see extraordinary things happening, that we will know there are graces being brought to this world and there are souls who are being touched and converted. Even if things continue to go the wrong way on the large scale, we can be guaranteed that God’s grace is working in the lives of individuals to save their souls. That may be at the last moment of their life as they are dying, to get turned around, it may be in some other circumstance, and it may well be people that we do not even know. It does not matter. All that matters is that we have the faith, the confidence, and the trust that the Lord is going to accept what we offer Him and that He will apply it where it is most needed. So we need to do our part.

Beg The Lord For The Grace Of Conversion For Our Loved Ones And The World
If the works that have been done in our day had been done in a place like Sodom, it would have converted. America and the rest of the world have not. We have rejected the grace of God, and we have chosen sin that is far worse than what Sodom ever knew. We need to pray and we need to do penance. We need to beg the Lord to open the way so that people will be able to receive the grace so they will be converted and saved.
Won’t you pray for mercy while there is still time for mercy?

Archbishop Wenski Warns Faithful About New Age “Narcissistic Navel Gazing”

While recognizing the challenge New Age spirituality poses to the Church today, the Archbishop says there’s little that is “new” in New Age teachings.
“A joint statement issued a few years ago by the Pontifical Council for Culture and well as the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue quotes the Holy Father, who warns with regard to the ‘return of ancient Gnostic ideas under the guise of the so-called New Age: We cannot delude ourselves that this will lead toward a renewal of religion. It is only a new way of practicing Gnosticism – that attitude of the spirit that, in the name of a profound knowledge of God, results in distorting His Word and replacing it with purely human words’.”
This statement entitled “Jesus Christ, the Bearer of the Water of Life,” offers an insightful analysis of the New Age movement and its incompatibility with sound Christian doctrine and practice, the Archbishop writes.
“It specifically cautions against using the Enneagram, which in recent years has enjoyed some popularity among Christian groups and has even been promoted by some Catholic religious communities. The Enneagram, a pseudo-psychological exercise supposedly based on Eastern mysticism, introduces ambiguity into the doctrine and life of the Christian faith and therefore cannot be happily used to promote growth in an authentic Christian spirituality.”

Prayer for Priests by Fr Doyle
O my God, pour out in abundance Thy spirit of sacrifice upon Thy priests. It is both their glory and their duty to become victims, to be burnt up for souls, to live without ordinary joys, to be often the objects of distrust, injustice, and persecution.
The words they say every day at the altar, "This is my Body, this is my Blood," grant them to apply to themselves: "I am no longer myself, I am Jesus, Jesus crucified. I am, like the bread and wine, a substance no longer itself, but by consecration another."
O my God, I burn with desire for the sanctification of Thy priests. I wish all the priestly hands which touch Thee were hands whose touch is gentle and pleasing to Thee, that all the mouths uttering such sublime words at the altar should never descend to speaking trivialities.
Let priests in all their person stay at the level of their lofty functions, let every man find them simple and great, like the Holy Eucharist, accessible to all yet above the rest of men. O my God, grant them to carry with them from the Mass of today, a thirst for the Mass of tomorrow, and grant them, ladened themselves with gifts, to share these abundantly with their fellow men. Amen.

The Dangers of "Energy Work"

We went for peace to no avail; for a time of healing, but terror
comes instead." Jeremiah 8:15
TRUE VS. FALSE SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES
St. Catherine of Sienna questioned Our Lord about how to tell a true
extraordinary experience from a false one. The Lord responded that
false experiences and visions often bring a feeling of exhilaration
and happiness, later turning to uneasiness, doubt, and fear.
Lucifer is an angel of light and can masquerade as a good angel.
Counterfeit healings occur which seem to validate a person's
experience. New Age healers announce to their clients the coming
enlightenment of the planet, the "coming of age" of the individual
who should reject outmoded concepts of sin and guilt.
"Instead they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless
minds were darkened." Romans 1:21
FRUITS OF FALSE EXPERIENCES
Vivid dreams and visions often precede, accompany, or follows
contact with New Age healers, channelers, or counselors which
contain deep truths, predict wonderful occurrences, include the
figures of Our Lord, Our Lady, angels and saints. Oracular spirits
know how to weave an intricate pattern of seduction and betrayal.
FALSE TEACHINGS OF NEW AGE "HEALERS"
Denying The Cross
Healers often recommend "clients" get rid of the negative people in
their lives and accept the true power within, and follow the path of
the magician. Deepok Chapra is one of the most loving deceptive
teachers of this doctrine now.
The False Idol of the Self and Individualism
Healers teach we are all a part of God, and christs in the making.
Thus, the normal reality checks of community, priest, and scripture
are taken away.
Mixing Pop Psychology with Spiritualism
Healers "open up" clients deeply on subconscious levels, introduce
spiritual attachments, and excite emotional turmoil. Through a
variety of aggressive psychological techniques, often mixed with
psychic practices, healers lead clients into what they say is
"processing" material and letting go of past life blocks. Clients
are thrown into intense psychological states, which can also throw
their families into turmoil.
CAFETERIA CATHOLICISM
Many of the most powerful New Age healers are Catholics who continue
to frequent services and claim to follow the teachings of their
faith.
"Elijah appealed to all the people and said, 'How long will you
straddle the issue? If the Lord is God, follow Him; if Baal, follow
him.'" 1 Kings 18:21
Cafeteria Catholics abound who practice healing, psychic channeling
and counseling. They feel they practice a deeper or more
enlightened Catholicism and look with bemused pity and compassion on
those of us who are not liberated. A number of them are schooled in
seminaries and Catholic universities in Christian counseling and
have licenses as counselors.
A TIME FOR DELIVERANCE AND HEALING
"It is written, 'My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have
made it a den of thieves'". Isaiah 56:7, Luke 19:46
From my own personal contact with healers referred for assistance
who are in spiritual, emotional or physical crisis, New Age healers
and youth especially are now under the severe influence of spirits
because of their occult practices and contacts (such as trance
channeling, necromancy and divination).
New Age Healers are now becoming severely ill due to their exposure
to others' sins without the protection of the Holy Spirit. Families
of clients who seek occult healing can be opened to suffering
similar problems such as erratic behavior, rages, compulsions and
oppressions such as severe depression as spirits enter their homes.
WHAT CAN WE DO?
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE….
As the Lord spoke against sorcerers, "I will tear off your veils and
rescue my people from your power, so that they shall no longer be
prey to your hands. Thus you shall know that I am the Lord."
Ezekiel 13:21
1. Make sure your physical therapist, nurse, psychologist or doctor
does not utilize New Age techniques.
2. Do not assume you can easily discern true healing from false.
We now walk in great spiritual darkness. Get the facts on any
technique with which you are not familiar.
3. Work with a group of committed Catholics to remove these
teachings and practices from Catholic hospitals, retreat centers,
colleges, pastoral counseling programs and practices.
5. Create Eucharistic healing centers instead where patients and
retreatants can receive true healing from the sacraments.

Knowledge and Purity

Why is it that we both sense that grade nine and ten students have a greater capacity to appreciate deeper and loftier theological ideas than the more "sophisticated" grade twelve students? And how does one explain the profound theological response of a grade six child to a simple question about the nature of the Mass?
I believe the answer lies in a very real connection between purity and knowledge, in particular the intellectual gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, knowledge, and understanding). My younger students have a greater innocence and a deeper purity than most of the senior students of the school.
