Creating a Black and White photo really enhances the mood of the photo. If you can, let the "photo" create the "mood". Look into the photo; Look deep into the photo and the mood will come into the present. Too deep? Just enjoy whatever you see or conjure up.

Last night, while sitting in the Piper Pub imbibing, the sunset was beautiful. The reflection on the Wells Fargo Bank Building was brilliant. And the overall sky colors were vibrant. And as fast as the colors developed .... they were gone. Enjoy! These photos were taken with my Samsung Android.

The Osprey and The Cormorant

Another great ride on the Boise Greenbelt today. A little hot and windy, but good nonetheless. Then I saw this Cormorant getting ready to liftoff from his snag. But he never did fly off. Good photo of him, though. Then I saw the Osprey. It may be the same one from yesterday. One of these mornings I will start out about an hour earlier and see if I can get a photo in "hunting mode". That would be interesting. Folks have been asking what camera settings I have been using. Here they are:

Camera: Nikon D3000
Lens: VR 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6 G
Focal Length: 300mm
Exposure Mode: Manual
Metering Mode: Center-Weighted
1/800 sec - F/8
Exposure Comp.: 0 EV
Sensitivity: ISO 500

Be sure to really look at the eyes of the Osprey. A Bald Eagle has a really "Don't Tread On Me" look due probably to the face shape and the set of the eyes. But look closely here and this stare is unbelievably menacing and searching. Now that's a bird of prey. Enjoy!

The day always must come to a close. The Moon coming up over the Indian Creek Vineyard in Kuna, Idaho. A beautiful sight.
