iCetana Receives Accolade at the 2011 WA Innovator of the Year Awards

November 3 2011 iCetana is pleased to be announced as a WA Innovator of the Year 2011 winner for the iiNet innovation in superfast broadband applications award. This annual business competition is administered by the Department of Commerce and recognises Western Australia’s most innovative creative thinkers and companies. iCetana shared in a prize pool of $200,000 that includes professional services and mentoring plus the opportunity of in-kind support from iiNet.

Gary Pennefather (CEO) was thrilled to receive the award on behalf of the team at iCetana.

“It is great to be recognised by the panel of judges as one of WA’s top innovators. It’s especially pleasing to receive an award sponsored by iiNet, who are a great example of a WA ICT success story. The support of these awards by the State Government is important in raising the profile of innovation in Western Australia and helping bridge the gap from great idea to commercial success.”

iCetana Wins Award at Tech 23

August 19 2010 iCetana received the “Broadband Innovation Award” sponsored by the NSW Government and a $25,000 prize at this year’s Tech 23 event. Tech 23 is an annual gathering of 23 of the best innovative companies in Australia. The event was held in NSW and organised by Slattery IT. Matthew Macfarlane, on behalf of iCetana presented to a panel of tech industry leaders as well as an audience of 400+ potential investors, entrepreneurs, business mentors and possible clients.

iCetana Team with Tech 23 Award

Gary Pennefather, iCetana’s CEO, who was elated at winning the award, said:

“Innovations like iCetana’s intelligent video software will change the way video surveillance is used. Improved access to broadband networks will enable the ubiquitous uptake of IP-based video solutions and other IP related technologies for commercial entities through to home consumers.”

Gary also thanked the dedicated team at iCetana, researchers at Curtin University, tech industry leaders in NSW and the NSW Government for supporting Australian-developed innovation and for having the vision to assist technologies such as iCetana’s that can make a difference to public safety and security.

iCetana attends Seed Accelerator Networking Event

August 18 2010:- iCetana attends the inaugural Sydney Startup Networking Party organised by Seed Accelerator. The event held at one of Sydney’s most unique venues over looking that harbour at the Cockle Bay Wharf provided a great backdrop for bringing together of members of Australia’s startup community to network and help each other succeed. The night was filled with live entertainment and pitches by various startups and early stage technology ventures.

What is Tech23?
It is a celebration of innovation, where 23 innovative Australian ICT companies will present before panels of esteemed industry leaders, experienced entrepreneurs, experts and investors including Roger Allen; Fiona Balfour; Chris Beare; Scott Farquhar to name a few.
There will be 400+ people in attendance, including government, researchers, customers, industry members, and media. Our company is also eligible for a range of exciting prizes including $150,000 in Innovation Pathways prizes, sponsored by Industry & Investment NSW, which will be presented at Tech23’s after party.

iCetana’s Board Nominates Gary Pennefather as CEO

The iCetana board, comprised of investors and strategic partners as well representatives from Curtin University have nominated Gary Pennefather as CEO of iCetana Pty Ltd. The role was temporarily held by Matthew Macfarlane who was instrumental in igniting the commercialisation process and securing early stage venture capital for iCetana. Matt will now take up a board position and directorship with iCetana.

Gary brings a wealth of technical knowledge and also has a strong background in technology centric start-up companies from which he has gained experience at the executive level across business development, engineering, product development, and corporate finance. In addition, Gary has board level experience and was an executive director of a publicly listed technology company – QRSciences (Ticker: QRS). During his time at QRSciences, Gary was involved in a number of corporate takeovers and acquisitions to grow the company beyond its original R&D technology focus. Prior to QRSciences, he was a key founder and Vice President of Engineering at Atmosphere Networks, a Silicon Valley based telecommunications network developer. Gary received a B.E. from the University of Western Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Yuuwa Capital LLP invests in iCetana

Yuuwa Capital LLP, an early stage venture capital firm, will invest up to $1.2m in the software company iCetana for the commercialisation of an anomaly detection technology developed by Curtin University.

iCetana secures investment funding

iCetana Pty Ltd. secures up a mixture of investment funding up to $1.5 million from early stage venture capital firm Yuuwa Capital and pre-seed funding from Curtin University. The funding will support the commercialisation of the software technology developed by Professor Svetha Venkatesh and her team at Curtin University’s Institute of Multi-sensor Processing and Content Analysis (IMPCA).
