Back in August, folks over at Dell made a big announcement about a future line-up of Inspiron-Z machines.

Apparently they didn’t lose any precious time because the Australian Dell Z family (the 11-, 14- and 15-inchers) is now ready to welcome the new 13-inch model.

For AU$1,199 (US$1,106) you’ll get a 1.3GHz SU7300 Core 2 Duo, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, Intel integrated 4500MHD graphics, a 320GB HDD and an LED-backlit screen.

This sounds pretty good but let’s see how will this baby look like (financially speaking) in stores all over the globe.

Scott’s Gmail Alert handles Google Mail, Google Calendar and Google News.

There are tens of apps that will simply notify you whenever there’s a new mail in your inbox. We have Gmail Notifier Plus, Gmail Notifier, Gmail Assistant and the list goes on and on. They all drive in the same circle but the monotony was broken today by a new app: Scott’s Gmail Alert (SGA).

Why is it so great? Because it can handle up to five different Gmail accounts checking up for messages, setting the colors, customizing the fonts and creating special alerts for special contacts. Also it’s 100% Aero Glass friendly on Windows Vista and 7. Now you will be able to compose quick messages by simply right-clicking the SGA icon (attachments included).

As if that wasn’t enough, the app also manages Google Calendar and Google News.

The most amazing thing of all is that Scott’s Gmail Alert is free and it’s fully compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7.

Toshiba’s Qosmio G60 (Dynabook MX) is already known as one of the best laptops worldwide but there’s always room for improvement and considering that there’s no better time than now, we’re proud to announce you that the Japanese manufacturer finally decided to welcome Blu-ray into its family.

The 18.4-inch monster hides under a very sexy shell a Blu-ray drive and a Cell-based SpursEngine HD video co-processor. Now that’s video power!

The price? This baby will be sold in Japan starting next month for around ¥220,000 ($2,457) but unfortunately the US release date is yet to be determined.

Mozilla Seamonkey is a web browser, a IRC client, an email application and an HTML editor in a single internet suite.

If you’re interested in using a single application for several internet activities then Mozilla SeaMonkey is what you should focus your attention on because under a single roof it hosts an HTML editor, a IRC client, an email application and a web browser.

This weekend the SeaMonkey 2.0 Release Candidate 1 was presented to the gen pop so… let’s see what’s new about it.

Back in the old days we used Firefox for web browsing and Thunderbird as an email client but now SeaMonkey offers all this in an internet suite. Compared to the Beta version released this summer, the RC1 build is much more stable and is bringing a large number of bug fixes. Also, it has a Thunderbird-style tabbed mail client and can very easily delete/cut bookmarks from the bookmark search view and reopen closed browser windows.

This open source cross-platform application is Windows, Linux and Mac friendly and all you need to do is to enter the official website and download your own copy.

The iPod industry is writing its own page in the tech’s history but unfortunately for all shuffle fans the apple-shaped company is not planning to add a video camera to the iPod touch in the nearest future.

But don’t worry, every problem has a solution and this particular one is offered by Xiangyun Industry Co. This company just announced on the market the Mini MP3 DV Cam – a camcorder with no music playback functionality.

Inside the iPod shuffle-looking case the device packs a 1.3 megapixel sensor (640 x 480 resolution) and a built-in memory card for storing your precious clips.

The entire package will set you back $15 or $30 depending on how many items you order because… the minimum order is 100.

Big announcement: VMWare player version 3 has just presented the RC build to the public. The best part about this new version is that it can create virtual machines but that’s not all.

It also offers ALSA support on Linux guests, Windows 7 support, OpenGL support in guest machines, multiple monitor support and ThinPrint powered printing.

The install wizard is now simpler than before so now you can set up any OS on a new guest machine in a heart beat.

The world’s first USB 3 HDDs are wearing Buffalo’s signature.

We all heard the rumors about the USB 3.0 but my friends i’m glad to let you know that starting today Buffalo will set free on the market the HD-HU3 series of USB 3.0 hard disks. That’s a world’s premiere!

You probably think that a USB 3.0 device is pointless without a controller. It’s true. That’s why NEC’s IFC-PCIE2U3 2-port PCI Expressx1 host controller ( ¥5,300 / $60) will be shipped together with Buffalo’s hard drives. This will only happen in Japan and the announced shipping date was set for late October.

The 1TB and 1.5 TB HDDs will wear ¥20,000 (about $225) and ¥25,300 (about $284) price tags while the 2TB disk will go as high as ¥46,600 (about $523).
