Married Couple Dance Ministry

The other day I was reading my Bible and came across Proverbs 31.  I must tell you that I love this scripture so very much.  Especially verses 10-31.  I feel as if this particular woman, this woman of virtue, has found a way to live and manage all sides of her life.  And with our quests to find this balance have we ever thought to look what God has to say.  Well anyway, as I was reading a few verses stuck out to me and made me wonder, could the Working Housewife be a biblical idea?  Could this be the way we should live?  Now I am not a biblical scholar, Bishop, or Pastor.  These are just my own thoughts that popped into my head and I wanted to share with you all to get your point of view.  So here goes.

The Working Woman

(KJV) ¹⁶She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

(NIV) ¹⁶ She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

(KJV) ²⁴She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

(NIV) ²⁴ She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.

The verses above lead me to believe that this woman had some sort of financial contribution to her household.  I would like to believe it was indeed a business.  In verse 16 she contemplates on purchasing a field and from her earnings (NIV) she plants a vineyard.  The King James Version says from the fruit of her hands.  A part of me still wants to believe that there is a financial fruit being talked about here because we are told later on in verse 24 that she makes linen garments and sells.  Also in verse 13 it says that she seeks wool and flax (used to make clothing) and works eagerly or willingly with her hands.  Could this possibly mean that not only did she take care of her household but she contributed to the household  financially with the talents that the Lord gave her? Should we do the same?

The Housewife

(KJV) ²⁷She looketh well to the ways of her household…

(NIV) ²⁷ She watches over the affairs of her household….

Verse 27 assures me that she is a housewife.  It says she watches over there affairs of her household.  Now if you remember how I defined housewife, then this certainly fits.  She manages her household and make sure things are running smoothly, isn’t that what we mothers and wives do.  Don’t you feel as if you call the shots in your house (I know I do).  Not to say hour spouses aren’t there or they don’t have input, but we delegate and make sure chores are done, the house is clean, everyone gets there physicals and so forth.

So is the Working Housewife a biblical philosophy?   These were just some thoughts that came to my mind as I was reading.  I would love to here your thoughts and ideas on this.

Did You Choose Happiness This Morning?

I spent my Memorial Day weekend cleaning and organizing my home.  It’s very important to me to have some sort of order in my home or I will constantly feel on edge or out of whack.  I was so excited to be able to organize two rooms, clean the kitchen, dining room, and living room.  I feel like I can breathe, yes!  Also this weekend I was able to spend some quality time visiting my sister, catching up on life and just enjoying each others company.  But she said something to me that made me want to know if you all feel the same way.  So the question I have for you is: Are You Happy Every Day?

While catching up on life with my sister she said to me that I reminded her of Charlette (not sure if that’s how you spell her name) from Sex in The City.  I believe in the first movie the girls asked her if she was always happy.  Her response was yes.  She’s not happy all day long but she is happy every day.  At first that seems like wierd statement to say or claim.  But when I think about my life I can so relate.

I can honestly say that I am happy every single day.  Things may happen through out the day that will change my mood from time to time, but I wake up happy and be sure to be happy everyday.  How am I happy everyday?  I simply love my life.  I am constantly learning and growing and I’m reaching a point where I finally feel as if I’m doing things my way (well maybe not everything, but you know what I mean).  At any given time if you peak into my life you’ll see me working at my job, working on items for my clients in my business, trying to gain more clients, supporting my husband by going to events and things, managing my household, and enjoying quality time with the kids.  Every time I tell someone or write this down they look at me like I’m crazy.  But as busy as my life can get.  I love it.  I love every bit of it.  I’m living my life on my terms and not based on what someone else thinks.  I constantly have “stuff” going on, even if it’s relaxing, I still have something going on.  I’m creating life and no longer reacting to life.

So back to showing you how you to can be happy daily.  You don’t have to make your life extremely busy like me.  Some people like a more calmer environment, but regardless of how you live your life understand happiness is a choice.  Yes, that’s what I said a choice.  In my opinion being happy is a choice.  I choose to be happy and enjoy what I have, what I’m going through, and enjoy the fact that I just am.  Happiness does not depend on my situation, the weather, or who did not speak to me for today.  My happiness comes from the fact that every day the Lord breathes life into my body so I can wake up (well if that situation changes maybe I will be upset).  Although I don’t have all that I want in life at this particular moment, the fact that I am alive and can make steps to achieve it is awesome.  Also looking at all that I have now as oppose to what I didn’t have a year ago or 10 years ago.  Remember the life that you complain about or are miserable in someone wants it.  That in itself should give you a reason to be happy.
